What an amazing day that was. I lived not too far from that track and so I woke up at 5 am and I went to my grandmother's house and asked her if she wanted to go to the race with me. I showed her the tickets and we packed up and went to the race. We are big Earnhardt Jr Fans And we made sure we got our t-shirts at his souvenir trailer. We then went and sat at our seats located above the start finish line but higher than that. And little did we know we'd see our favorite driver return to victory lane. I will never forget that amazing day.
I thought this was a perfect year for NASCAR- multiple contending drivers, a great mix of young and old (you had the likes of Carl, Kyle Busch, and Biffle, along with the legends- Rusty, Rudd, Martin, Jarrett), and some awesome-looking cars (the Ford Tauruses of Roush and Yates were sleek and beautiful), and outside of Burton inheriting the Cingular #31, a season in which there wasn't massive driver upheaval nor any drivers moving over to a completely different car at the time. It was an interesting year teamwise (Labonte's last ride at JGR, Rusty's last ride period, DEI dissension, Jarrett/Sadler and Mayfield/Kahne during better times, Roush's 5-man dream team,
@thattruckerwes8072 I'm gonna be 22 on the 31st that month. I didn't watch Nascar until 2010. But throughout my 14 years of being a fan, I've seen tons of races on RU-vid from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. This sport is freaking awesome
I remember I was jumping up and down screaming when Jr took the lead with 12 to go. Knowing how terrible that season was for him. That was much needed. I also remember how we kept track of how many laps Jr lead that season.
Nascar 07 challenge 2 × 4 2:48:10 Dale Earnhardt JR 8 In the race he drove the 8 Budweiser/MLB All star game Chevy as he led 11 laps to win despite having a loose car with two worn tires as he ended a losing streak of 19 races since he was in victory lane at Pheonix in the next to last race of the inaugural chase for the cup of 2004 as he was very jubilant and proud to score his first N only victory of 2005 good news but bad news was he missed the Chase For The Championship that season. Anyway in the challenge he was driving the 8 Dale JR Chevy as the player in the game had to navigate jrs car for just two laps on worn tires to hang on to the victory like he was able to do so. (as for all his challenges he was in his Busch series oreo firesuit)
Matt Kenseth Dominated leading 176 of the 267 laps this is a race he Should have won. This started his run to make the Chase that year But he made up for it by Dominating Bristol later in the year. But Congratulations to Dale jr using pit strategy to win this would be his last hurrah for the year tho. Overall this was one of the best Chicagoland races ever.
I noticed that when Tony Eury Sr. Was Earnhardt's crew chief he was winning on a regular basis. From the moment Eury Jr. took over, Dale's wins pretty much stopped.
Does anyone know what the name of the NBC NASCAR music is called that they use when they come back from a commercial break and during the race and results? Example would be at 40:10 to 40:38
Loved Sadler (big RYR fan), but man I hated that Combos car. Surprise he never drove a Twix/Milky Way bar (associate sponsors) and didn't drive Snickers until his 2nd to last race w/Yates.
