This was Spain's best-selling car for 4 years in a row (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003). This car (and mk1 Seat León) is the closest thing there is to a VW Golf in Central Europe or a Toyota Corolla in much of the world. Everyone has one, had one, started driving with one or at least has some close relative or friend who did.
That is not the case here in Denmark. People avoided them back them, it is a french car. Peugeot ran with all the "french" customers up here. But still both Toyota Corolla and VW Golf sold a LOT better than these cheap french cars. :)
@@andersnielsen6044 French cars have a unreliable reputation down here as well, but in equal power, size or extras, they tend to be noticeably cheaper than their German or Japanese counterparts. Also a good reason why Korean brands have been trendy in more recent years. But there's also a bit of tradition as why Renault, Peugeot and Citroën are very popular in Spain. Back in the 60s during Franco's dictatorship, Seat was the only car brand you could have. And then these French brands started investing a lot of money and building huge factories. So basically, up until they early 80s (when Ford, VW and Opel showed up) or mid-late 80s (when the Japanese and Fiat started selling in the Spanish market), these French makes had been selling in Spain for around 20 years and were the only "foreign" cars you could get in Spain, so people didn't really see a Renault or a Citroen to be as exotic as a Toyota, a VW or an Opel.
@@LIONtib They are also newer. Mostly all the older models are either scrapped or exported to eastern europe, balticum, ukraine and africa. I my self have exported +500 Peugeots, Citroens and Renaults since 2003.
We had a '02 1.9D from 2007 until 2015. We had to get rid of it because our city was revoking our parking permit due to the cars emissions class being the worst you could get. The next year, after we sold the Xsara, the emission rule was cancelled... I still miss the sound that car made and the comfort of the seats and suspension
@@soufiansigma2645 true but I still consider it a relatively good alternative for what you'd normally get as a cheap first car. The golf engines drink more oil then a alcohol drinks beer, the focus engines are so loud (personal opinion) that you're gonna need noise canceling headphones once you go above 3000rpm and the astra's (from what I've heard and experienced myself) blow their thermostats.
Driving Xsara 2001, 1.4 75hp, drove well over 30k with it, past this year... The engine is a bit weak for the car, but still enjoyable, I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for this car, and I'm so happy. Also it has an interesting color and makes it look way different than the regular Xsara's, its golden!
I had in 2014-15 2003 Xsara 2.0 HDI. Roomy, cheap to buy and service, very comfortable, quite reliable car with average 6 l/100 km and max speed 185 km/h.
2007 roku byłem właścicielem przez kilka lat model Xsara Forte. Tani w eksploatacji. Duży bagażnik, dużo schowków, miękkie siedzenia i zawieszenie.
our PD has a lot of cars like that they respond in many calls everyday and they have very high mileage and they are unmaintained but they have never broken down those were very reliable old french are legends
I'm not hating, but the acceleration was pathetic. You're shifting gears way too early, keep in mind the max power of those engines is reached at 5750 RPM. With higher revs this car should do 0-100 in 11 seconds, not 15 seconds like you got. There's no point in doing an acceleration if you're short shifting. Cheers ;)
My parents had a '02 Xsara Chrono. Imported from germany but we are french 😂. They wanted the Xsara "jaune heliodor" but it was too expensive so they bought it blue. And we received the car aluminium grey 🤷🤣🤣. It was a great car 👌. 2.0 HDi 90hp, this engine is a monster, never had one problem ! I learn to drive with this car 😁. Miss this Xsara, we sold it in 2017 🥲
I also have - heated seats, cruise control and reverse radar (quite rare in my country at least), 2003 estate, 1.6 engine. 345 thousand km. I wish it consumed a little less but otherwise I love the car.
Aprox. Saludos
I have the 2001 exclusive version. Bought it with only 86.000km on the clock two years ago! It works fine although it lacks a bit of hp in my honest opinion, specially when going uphill.
Jest jakiś samochód na twoim kanale którego nie ma? niesamowita ilość nagranych aut.. jakiego auta bym nie szukał zawsze znajduje odcinek z jazdy nim :D
@@panagiotist47 Denmark. For the last 10 years I might have seen 10 cars.. There is much more Peugeots than Citroens here. But still 2003? They are likely 95% of them dusted away in a scrap yard :)
@@andersnielsen6044 Yeah because people can afford newer cars there while here most of cars are old and still people are buying old cars including me who has a 206 1.6 16v 2006 but i like it because its a nice car and fast for a first.
@@panagiotist47 I was working as a salesman at Citröen back in these days my self. I started my own business in 2003 after that I have traded approx 1500 cars every single year since. I haven't dealed such an old Citröen in like 2 years and it have been C5's almost only. Remember cars here are like 2-3 times as expensive as in Greece. I have exported several old cars to Greece the last 15 years and get taxes back in return from the state, and more for the car from my Greece-traders without taxes, than I would here in Denmark, cause I would only get the scrap yard price approx 250 euros :)
Still I have my Xsara convert to e85 changed my sparkplug iridium Bosch...I don't think this one will much mine in engine performance I can see sluggish in road but overall it great car
i have exactiy the same in greece and i am very happy ....but i wouid like if you can heip me i want a photo under your left foot where the fuses are......i m confused...thank you very mush
This is not good.. from 0 to 100km/h in my factory Citroen Xsara 1.6 109hp, I go to 100km/h in 9.7 seconds according to factory data, 9.5 seconds You didn't rev the engine enough, 14+ seconds is a lot
