@randomvideosn0where For future reference.... Check to make sure your speakers can handle the power that they will be receiving. Go to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and find the PAYNE manual for your crv. The manual is based on a complete tear down and rebuild of the vehicle(s) it covers. VERY USEFUL.

If I were to do it again, I would get myself the Honda Accord single DIN dash kit. Apparently that one has screws that fit perfectly. This one was from best buy and no screws. Yes, when I first installed it, it did rattle. I had to wedge in some rubber/ cloth to tighten up the spaces to prevent rattle.

Which socket you used to connect to the original socket behind the radio ?

@hazarabond I kept things simple. I bought a Honda wiring adaptor from best buy. With the adaptor, all I had to do was connect colored wires together... Blue to blue, red to red etc. It had instructions with the adaptor kit.

@MREURONCAP The car is fine. It's a car that does a lot of things. Okay gas mileage for a daily driver, large enough to carry most cargo, except when moving furniture.. Im getting 27.9mpg on mixed city/highway driving. I have about 120,000 miles on the car since i bought it in november 2002.

My thanks too! Local company wanted to charge me $370. I found the exact radio and Dash Installation Kit on Amazon for $156.

I’ve been told the cars alarm is connected to the radio system. So do you not have an alarm if you take out the original radio?

@karisic - my CD players eject mechanism broke because there was a small plastic cog /gear that broke. I superglued it back together, and it worked for 2 months and broke again. No one seems sells a replacement part. Unfortunate that you have to replace the whole thing bc of a 1 cent piece.

@mrboy2511 I didn't need a radio code for my aftermarket jvc system. If you installed another Honda system I presume you would need a code.

Thank you so much for this video, when I bought my 2003 CRV (4 years ago), I had come across the pros and cons and read that the factory radio/CDs often failed within the first 6 months and that it cost in the ball park of 1000 dollars to have Honda replace it because you couldn't replace the radio from inside the car. (I believed this was true until seeing your short video today) so two years ago when a CD was jammed into my player before the player was ready to accept the CD, I just went without a working sound system because it wasn't worth it too me to pay Honda that much money to replace it. My CD player tried to mount for a year and a half, it made the clicking noise and gave me flashing error lights until one day if just when black and no longer clicked or lit up. Does that mean that something possibly burned out and a new player might not work either? Reading that you would have used a 'Honda Accord single din dash kit' I decided to search for a '2003 Honda crv single din dash kit' and came up with many different options to choose from-- not that I know how to decide between them. How can I tell if a kit has screws vs clips? I am not savvy enough to know the right questions but it seems that something made specifically to fit the CRV should be a good fit choice, which makes me ask was the kit you installed was it specifically for a 2003 CRV?

@SPACECADET2U My OEM unit sits in my garage. The CD player's eject mechanism broke. actually, a small plastic cog that activates the eject function broke. Too bad, no one sells a replacement part for it that i know of.

@laxxmoneyy. I got mine at best buy. I have heard from others that honda makes one for the accord that fits the CRV perfectly.

Where did you get the stage thing? The object that has like the compartment beneath the head unit.. Is that Crv specific?

My daughter has a 2001 civic with an aftermarket radio . The car will not reset the maintenance required light. Have any of you guys ever come across this issue & how do you clear it ? Can we just disconnect the radio . We need to get it through a e-test & oil change is not a reason to fail . Thx

Some cars have a sticker in the glove compartment with a 5 digit number. If it is not there then you will need to ask the previous owner or call a Honda dealership.

I Installed My New Aftermarket radio as in the video the radio works like it should but part of my instrument cluster now does not light up or the Accessory Buttons Like AC Sunroof Lock Buttons Windows anybody have this problem? Any fixes?

What did you do with OEM CD player? Was there anything wrong with it?

@mrboy2511: yup, my aftermarket unit has these little snaps on the edges of the plastic - they sort of 'snap' into place. I prefer screws too, that why other folks have suggested getting the accord single din unit as an adaptor. Search the hondasuv.com website for more info.

The ground wiring came with the headunit.

Was it loose after installing it. Mine wobbles. The instructions the dash kit came with were horrible. The thing doesn't stay snapped in one you put the cover back on the dash.

hi, i installed xtron DVD in honda crv 2002, but the xtron DVD does not have radio illumination wire which i did not connect, but now i dont have light on dash when i turn the headlight on. please can assist where i should connect the illumination wire. thanks

The anti theft belongs with the stereo. The new stereo's anti-theft is a detachable faceplate.

why didnt you just connect the ground to the ground that comes of the plug?

@brie2683 I honestly can't remember. Go to hondasuv.com and search in the forum site. Someone there had posted the accord single DIN kit that supposedly fits perfectly in the CRV.

i got mine from Best Buy. it was around $20.

I bought a mounting kit from best buy. I would not buy it again. The one I got uses plastic clips to hold it in place. If you go to the website hondasuv dot com and search for CRV replacement stereos, someone there had suggested that a honda Accord mounting kit perfectly fits the CRV, and has the screws to hold it in place. That would be the way I would do it if I did it again.

@hazarabond I don't think I can help you. I am unfamiliar with what you have installed. It does not make sense to me that your dash lights are out after a stereo installation. Are you sure you don't have a blown fuse or an overloaded circuit? Or is the light switch worn out? Consider going to hondasuv.com and asking the forum members their opinion. Many folks there have much more electronics experience than I do. Good luck.

@sfgggggggggetc. My code was on a little card that came with the car. I think niceday has a good suggestion. Try a dealership.
