Amazing car! My grandfather had the same one loved it so much! One day I want to buy one of these! Greatest cars ever! It's look never looks old and is not outdated its very modern still in 2015.
Yes! I bought a black one that was kept in very good shape indoors. It had 120,000 miles on it and it looks better than some of the new ones! I love the small grille.
I have a 2008 e60 530i. Best car I will ever own. Still as good as new. All aluminium front end, television, 0-100 km/hour in 6.5 seconds. New it cost $124,000 in Australia. Six years old, I paid $35,000 for it. Now, I would be lucky to get $17,000 for it. But it still looks and feels like a million dollars every time you drive it.
Sprint booster will improve the throttle. These are great cars and if you can find a well maintained one that's had the suspension parts changed at the correct time with proper OEM parts along with the plastic cooling pipes being replaced they will be pretty easy on the wallet for maintenance.
***** You should be fine. I have a $2000 "just in case" fund on the side for my MB and whenever I use it I just top it back up. $1200 per year will do you fine and will even include maintenance. Just keep on top of things. Again if you find a good one make sure the suspension components have been changed and the cooling system inspected. Those are the finicky areas of a BMW. The M52 motors are pretty solid in the older 530i cars and should run nothing short of silky smooth.
Dude it's now 2019 This is arguably the best looking sedan of its time! e Even now people tell me my car is beautiful. I have a 2006 E60 530i love this car!
Great review. You guys are thorough. I'm looking at 2004 or 06' 530i or XI. I test drove the 06' 530I. It was smooth and steering tight and sporty. I don't understand the fuss about this version of the 5 series. 8 to 12 grand for a great sedan if you ask me is nice. How reliable are the AWD VERSION?
+Jujag Themag the problem is that it's not reliable , it's an awesome car but the comments on this car are all similiars it have a water pump and transmission problems i saw alot of comments on the same problem , i really love this car i found some cool 5's for an affordable price but i guess i won't be able to stand the maintenance prices it cost 1 grand minimum for the easiest thing
So vehicle virgins how much could i expect to spend on maintenance every year im 15 and have some money saved up but not enough hoping my soon to come job will help with that im just afraid after i buy it the maintenance may be to much anything helps thanks
my e38 - even the 95 version - can handle that twisty road yor on very impressively, too. it's a total sports sedan! even being so utterly BIG as it is. BMW fukin rocks!
no it is not as big as the e38. 6:05 - you guys are full of shit sometimes O_o it's not nearly as luxurious OR comfortable, even if it is the same size as the e38.
id say best e60 review. talked on all key points, especially considering other generations and series. yet dont get why you prefered e39 on comments, cause it seems to be rather e34 or e60 apart from the money issue
my dad has this car and is giving this to me its gold and has different rims but great video, ive been looking for a driving review of this car and you guys nailed it of all aspects. giving me more intel upon the car thanks guys.
Vehicle Virgins I drove one with 130k on it with the 6cyl, it was fine and looks the same as all the other 5 series. I wouldn't complain especially for the price. people want the 8cyl of any car because people told them that is what they want. 6cyl is the way to go on this car it works fine. Also I am assuming that the 8cyl is a 545i not a 530 anyways.
Nice vid. I picked up a 530i 04 with about 180k cross-state miles. Drives excellent. Paid only 5300. Hard to sell a high mile car. But once you know the feel of a bmw you can hop in one one and feel out if the car was treated with car and maintained.
Aside from the exterior looks, this car is better than the e39 in every way. Interior is MUCH better looking, and functional. know the e39 is THE Iconic 5 - Series, but, if it weren't for Chris Bangle's LSD-affected styling, this E90 would have been as well-regarded as the e39. And this is coming from a 2003 e39 owner.
Just got one very well made car , interior sucks tho . But overall there alot of upgrade you can do to this car to make it pop. Tint windows and get rims
It aged well, looks pretty modern for an 04, oldest guess would be 2003, maybe 2002. It’s looks good yes, but those door panels are kinda cheap looking unfortunately.
hopefully someone replies to me but I want to know how reliable this is alway do an oil change every 5000 miles like recommended for any car but the car my dad gave me a ml320 is major gas guzzler I need something that is going to give me good gas mileage and be realible for years to come BMW has record of having car issues all the time but people are saying 5's are the most realible
They are certainly no electrical nightmare of the 7 series nor the small 3 series burin going to give you advice try your best to get a 2006 or newer one with the manual it will save you tons of cash in the long run and for regular maintenance replace the tranny fluid every 25k to 50k get rid of the CDV make to always inspect the clutch when changing fluid run full synthetic preferably high mileage as the additives are good for the engine and especially the seals and gaskets run 93 octane run injector cleaner every 3k miles or in between oil changes now for the high dollar stuff get a full metal water pump it will save you tons of money since the oem ones are plastic and go bad every 50k miles usually timing belt change take it to a import repair shop not bmw it will also save loads don't buy the run flat tires they're pointless just get the slime stuff and a air compressor or fix a flat and most importantly if you can do it on your own DO IT! and save money not dealing with a dealer
How many miles did that BMW have on it cause i found the same model for $5,999 with 78,959 miles on it i was thinking about getting it for my first car
My mom has one of these cars we got certified pre owned and it's a 2006, and it's nice, but it has been expensive to maintain. I'm 19 and scared to drive it because I'm worried its technology will distract me.
The 2004 E60 530i has *exactly* the same engine as the E39 530i. The interior quality is dreadful, especially compared to the E39. I know, I have one. I've also owned an E39 528i and still own an E39 M5. iDrive is bloody awful. It is SO bad. It requires too much attention and too many clciks for simple operations. Temp gauge ommision is a bloody joke. It also looses the interior boot release and glovebox torch. The E39 has all of those. Auto door lock can be switched off. It's there to stop people getting in, not out. Centre console loses out space to put a mobile phone. Gap below CD player is useless as when you accelerate everything in it falls out.
jaymum23 Not sure about the F10, I really don't know much about it. IMO, it seems as though the E60 had many features designed by people who never drive. The E60 is my daily driver and I get used to it, then, occasionally, I treat myself to a weekend drive in my E39 M5 and, power aside, the car just makes the E60 seem cheap and nasty. The only thing the E60 improves on over the E39 is wind noise.
Reliable? I completely disagree, because the BMW 5 series and especially the 2004 version was very unreliable. My uncle bought a 2004 BMW 530i and had to go back to the dealer after three months due to the check engine sign. The dealer said there was nothing to worry about, so they decided to erase the code. Then it happened again after two weeks, and BMW finally admitted there was a faulty chip in this model year. So BMW dealership had to replace the faulty chip which it was covered under warranty.
+Mr.Logic23 Ok, so big deal. 1 little glitch (that was fixed under warranty, I might add) in an otherwise wonderful sports sedan, and you're going to make a huge issue of it?? Jesus, talk about the glass being half full...
+1970borntorun that is one of the issues mr. butt hurt and there many more. no one was disregarding thr driving dynamic about the bmw. I was speaking from a reliability perspective.
+Mr.Logic23 "Mr Butthurt" ?? Wow. How old are you, about 12?? I stand by my comment Mr. Maturity. You should try being more positive. People might actually enjoy your company someday.
1970borntorun People like you are ruining the discussions about facts. If you want to talk facts then we should do so, but will not get involved in the name calling and its up to you.
1970borntorun read the previous comment unless you have some short term memory problem. I am not going to low myself to some online kid who is trolling. You are being blocked.
That's what I hope to be as well I'm guessing you got the auto but I myself want a manual although hard to find also I want to give some advice change the transmission fluid every 50k miles or less that's a great way to help the tranny last longer and another thing when it comes to water pump time don't buy oe bmw ones they have plastic internals get one that's metal they're mentioned all over forums hope you're enjoying it just wish I could maybe find a 535 though🤔
Good informative review. Just a shame about the car...exterior sucks in every single way, and the interior is pretty dreadful as well. E39 rules, simple as!
+Paolo Panetta I disagree on the exterior look. I think it actually looks better than the current model in some ways, but that's probably a personal preference. To me it has a more classic BMW look than even the newer models, especially from the rear. The front of the car is very similar to the 2015 model.
