This was my first ever Canes game my freshman year. Will never forget this one. With the exception of the 2007 Super Bowl, this was the best game I've ever attended.
I was at this game! My only time going to a Miami vs FSU game! The atmosphere waz crazy! No assigened seats I loved that and oh I would never forget the amount of pretty college girls that were there that night. i was so wasted and I had a fuckin blast!
I had seen the Hurricanes play many times since 1991 but never at the OB. What a glorious night that was. Even met Brock & Greg Olsen the next morning at AllCanes. Oh & Chris Rix is my favorite Hurricane QB of all time. Thx Chris for everything u did for Miami football.
Hard Rock is great, but my dad and I have so many great memories in the OB. This one was probably the greatest. We cried like babies when Gore broke the plane lmao RIP OB
At 14:55, that was a class act and great plug B Mustberger did for Frank Gore. Boy, was he right. Frank Gore will be in the NFL hall of fame. This was a great game. I miss these days of Mia.
Just got to say, Chris Rix, was the best thing to happen to Miami since South Beach😂😂😂😂 Through his four years, Rix completed 41.5% of his passes, threw five touchdowns and NINE interceptions. And also, Rix was 0-5 against Miami
There for this one! all the way on the top row between the uprights. Seeing Frank Gore running into the end zone, disappearing behind the lower part of the crowd was one of my greatest memories at the Orange Bowl. My dad and I were in tears because it was such an amazing finish! RIP OB
My daughter was born during this game. The wife was in labor. We went to the hospital in the 1st quarter. Got there and they told us they were doing an emergency C-section. She was born healthy and they got my wife to a room. I went to the car for our bags and this game was still on in the ER waiting room.
aha! found it. This is one of only 2 college football games I've ever been to. Both were in the OB! First one was back in 92 against FAMU... we all stayed just to watch their maching band. BUt this game... WOW!!! talk about a thriller. Hope the CANES can get back to greatness!
Also, I was at this game. Me and my dad were all the way at the top right above the O in Orange. So many tears of joy when he broke that plain. I hope when I have a son one day we can share the some kind of moments at Sun Life :)
Feels like Miami has never been the same since they got rid of the Orange Bowl. They should have rebuilt a new stadium instead of That Marlins stadium which is always 3/4 empty. That stadium was the heart and soul of Miami football.
there was just something about that Orange Bowl. I bet you no one was happier the day it was bulldozed than FSU.went there for several big time canes games, what a great atmosphere there, i was sad to see it go
Hopefully our 4 star quarterback in the 13 class will give us some more rings. I'm telling u, the U is rising again. Its only a matter of a few seasons. I'd bet money on a championship in 2016. GO CANES
Hester legit saved the game with that block! Our offense was atrocious up until the last 2 min, so I know we would’ve lost if they would’ve went up 13-3 with 4 min left in the game. Hester deserves just as much credit as Rix does for this win 😀🤣.
The way teams play in the SEC copied Miami's and Florida State's style of fast and athletic defensive lineman and linebackers along with overall team speed. Miami had this style of recruiting players with superior athleticism back in the '80s then FSU copied Miami. Its evident today in the SEC and thats why Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, etc. are so good. They copied The U!!!! Real Talk!
@ileorin They were good against conventional offenses. Jimbo Fisher's offenses averaged 30 points a game against him. Unorthodox offenses.. Shannon had major issue scheming against them.
NCAA can't afford revenue drop from the death penalty. The SMU Mustangs hurt them bad and I'm sure they haven't done the DP since then. I'm sure hoping they don't though, I wouldn't watch football until the penalty is passed :/
@DApostalz777 Chris Rix was better than Lee and Weatherford combined. He was the best FSU had at the time. Did you not see the Sugar Bowl debacle with Fabian Walker in? He may have turned the ball over too much, but at least he moved the ball. I can't remember which season, I think it was 06 or 07, but our offense used screen passes instead of run plays because we were that bad offensively. Rix was long gone by then.
if u were a fan of either team, why on earth would u miss the labor day games ? 10-7 ? those were the worst games ever played by those teams in the rivalry
ok, what about 3 straight wins, one being a blowout when we were the underdogs, and that bs game in 2011 when the refs were trying everything they could to give Miami a win, but the U choked again haha
