Out of curiosity. Did y'all have and install the oil slinger that goes over the rear main. Granted Ford no longer calls it an "oil slinger". Because no oil even touches it. Unless of course the rear main does bad. I'm asking because I today I installed a new rear main on my 4.6L 2 valve. I'm just not 100% sure I've got everything fully seated. I know you can push the rear main in to far, supposedly. It's just I can no long get everything to move further into the housing, without doing some form of damage. So if y'all did not have or use the oil slinger. How far in did y'all push the main in. With the main and slinger in the housing. I might have the slinger proud towards the flex plate 0.20 or maybe 0.15. Any knowledge would be GREATLY appreciated!! 2 piece mains aside, this has got to be one of the most difficult mains I've done. Anyway, Thanks Guys!! Apologies for any typing errors, it's been a long day!!

Would a slide hammer tool work on that pilot bearing? Or would it not get behind the bearing? I have to do my rear main and I may just as well do that
