The regaining of battery capacity from 50% to 83% (2007 Prius) through the use of Hybrid Automotive's Prolong balancing kit.
The rebalancing/reconditioning of all 28 modules can also help get rid of the RED triangle of death indicated by codes P3018, P3006,P0A80,and P3017.
There are a lot of ways to rebalance hybrid battery packs but after a little research I found the prolong system to be the easiest and most foolproof.

Hello, for hybrid or nimh batteries to work for many years, they require passive and permanent balancing due to their low cell tension, they will not be the same. This is solved by connecting a shunt zener diode with its current limiting resistor. It balances all the cells at the same voltage. It is not perfect and a small percentage of capacity is lost, but it is better than a dead battery after 3 years. This method is highly effective, reliable and easy to integrate, achieving triple the useful life of a battery.

4 days to do 3 cycles of charge and discharge.. Zzz dead.. im doing it right now and im only on day two..

I have the same kit. I wonder if I'm over doing the balancing by doing it once a year?

I don't have any updates on this Prius because the owner relocated to another state. The last Prius that I rebalanced saw around a 4% drop after 16 thousand miles of very hard driving. I haven't heard form the other owners in quite some time.

So i just got this same kit and it didn't work for me. Have you always had this kit work for you?? My first charge and discharge was at 238 than 237 and 238 again. But the power stil drop suddey after i start driving. I keep having to reset the ima.

The last Prius I did was about a month back. That battery really didn't need it at (86%) life expectancy but I reconditioned it anyway with just to get a little more life out of it. No problems with any of the packs I reconditioned yet. Are any of your cell blocks over 30 milli ohms?

Yes I still have it and has worked very well the times I have used it. Well worth the investment for me and I would still buy this one over all others on the market today. Thanks.

How's the life expectancy/capacity after 6 months? I read elsewhere the effect doesn't last very long

@@ctang5954 You are charging and discharging with these devices and this balances out the modules. You can pay someone else who has done this for you and you could end up paying any where from $700 to $2,000 for used used battery pack modules that have gone thru practically the same method. So maybe your purchased battery pack last 6 months or so and your back in the same boat again having to purchase another battery pack.

I have been conditioning my 3 prius gen 2 cars once a year. It does need to be redone about annually but I've only had to change the low cells the first year
