Part Deux of my 2005 Kia Sedona starter replacement videos. By trial and error and your comments and suggestions I learned some new tips and tricks to help others successfully complete their starter replacement from underneath the van to hopefully save you some time. Sorry for the choppy video. I'm learning how to use a new editing program. Idaho_Weibert_60 just parted with my 2005 it was at 127k, my 2006 has 138k. Missing my 2005 already. Such great vans.

:( sorry for your loss...lol when we first bought it I was skeptical, but it has been a good van. the only real issue I had with mine over the years, other than the recent starter problem, was the brake system. other than that, it has served me well :) . will miss mine when it goes, but it is time for a truck...….but not until the kia has finished serving it's time...lol thanks again for the comment and hope you liked the video for me. :)

Not sure if you mentioned " remove neg battery terminal as well as pos. " before our start.

Gonna try your method with heat shield. I spent more time tying to remove heat shield than removing starter.

Great vid but could have been better had you mentioned the size of sockets or wrenches used. I use to remember having had to replace the Cotton picking thing twice already and this is the third time just can't seem to remember size tho

Don't skimp on the gloves. Ya gotta use the blue 9 mil ones. Worth it.

Thanks for this video, it's a bit clearer to see than the other one. I've been having a hell of a time trying to get these bolts blind. I finally realized I need a universal joint to try to get that one bolt in the deep well. I've pulled the wrong bolts so many times I think. Just to clarify though, there's ONLY 2 mount bolts...right? It should be loose after top and bottom are removed? My '06 has 2 bolts near the top of the starter and they're both the same size... I can't tell which one is holding it in on top.

droptozro glad it helped. sorry for taking me so ling to respond. been busy with life. yrs there are only two the top which required the universal joint to get the nut off the stud and the bottom bolt.

droptozro also remember you have to disconnect the heat shield otherwise might make it seem like it has not been loosened.

droptozro i would not think only a year apart it would be that different. and having just two on top does not sound like it would be very secure that way. let me know if i can help in any other way. God bless!

Yeah I ended up getting it. I still have one extra bolt I can't figure out where I got it from though. Everything runs fine... but gotta find that bolt location! Thanks for the video again.

Sliped the heat shield out by pulling it towards the oil filter and pushing it up! No need to remove the pipe! Or really anything else ijs! Goodluck guys

im not a mechanic either, have just repaired several of my vehicles on my own so know a little bit. Sorry if i wasn't detailed enough on this video. my first vid was a little more detailed but this one shows a quicker way to do it.
