Well earlier we had a look at this "NO START / CRANKS OK" that was dropped off to us from another shop. I think they were right, this '05 Vibe has some "major issues!" Now that we have diagnosed it lets get it ripped apart!
Miss part 1? Look here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL2Ds...

I find it amusing that content creators, like you Eric, have little idea as to what it is that your audience wants to see. Videos like this are gold. We want to see it all, not just three minutes of Scotty screaming.

Eric asked: "Is anyone going to watch an entire engine replacement video" YES! I love in depth videos. us DIY folks who are handy enough to work on our own cars eat this stuff up, it's like sitting in a classroom being taught how to do something. It helps prepare for the real thing in the same way school prepares for real life.

For April Fools Day, I want to see you and Mrs. O trade places. She does a repair video and you work the office with Trinity. No excuses. If you don't, I'm going to run advertising saying SMA is the premier Chrysler repair shop in all of New York. Let that sink in for a bit! Besides, the video will go viral and you'll have a million subscribers in no time!

+FordTechMakuloco Well I don't wanna be the Debbie downer but when I asked the salvage yard if they would take it back for core credit if I stripped it down they said half credit... so that means it would have cost me $150 to peal it apart after I had all ready made the deal with them... If I was thinking I should have told them the head was off it all ready but hey hind sight is 20/20 right...
@Tedybear315

South Main Auto Repair A bit on the greedy side. All they are going to do is toss the core into a junker that is gonna get crushed for the scrap value. Doesn't matter if the head's been removed or not. It all weights the same

Hey this is part 2 , and your right don't warranty no junk yard engine. I would assume a new one would be worth purchasing. The vehicles body looks in great shape and it would beat purchasing a new vehicle or even used... Man some people are just cheap..okay maybe if the person can afford a new engine that's different , but really ? Thanks Eric , don't even warranty the compressor if it is junk yard one.

I needed to replace the o ring on the distributor of my honda accord so I went to ebay and bought what was listed as 'genuine oem honda'. It arrives in the mail and it was just some oring they pulled from a 500 piece harbor freight set of orings that sell for 6 bucks/500. I spent 6 bucks for the one oring and it wasn't even as thick as the oem one which made it useless.

Excellent video production - thumbs up. My fingers are crossed for your customer and hope that is a good used engine. I watched the entire video mostly because I wanted to see what kinds of problems you ran into taking out the engine. In my less than two years of experience I have learned that electrical connectors in 10 year old vehicles are mostly brittle from many heat cycles and age which make them difficult to work with. Very interesting video showing an alternative method of pulling a transverse engine. I haven't done any later models so it is very worth while to watch. Seeing a large cross section of models gives a lot of practical info. I still don't know how you pop all those plastic electrical connectors without breaking the tabs of at least a few! Your diagnostic approach is excellent, you follow the evidence and reach conclusions based on fact, not what normally fails on these cars, a lot of mechanics in the UK diagnose by swapping parts and expect the customer to keep paying until it's fixed, even the main dealers.
