It was a dull looking race day. Low, dark grey skies, constant drizzle of rain and it was the first time the race ended at full darkness. Never really enjoyed the 500's that was scheduled to end at night between 06 and 09. It was good racing though. Thanks for the upload
+bobalose3and88 I never said that the racing or the finishes were bad in those years. I just enjoy daytime Daytona 500's and night time July Coke Zero 400's more.
I love the 500 ending under the lights... I think the impending darkness raises the stakes. As it gets darker, the action kicks up. To be fair, this is my favorite Daytona 500 simply because of the factors that made this race different. Notice how it wasn't a giant pack race the whole time. Handling was a giant factor in this race. Plus, the environment made the race look intimidating. It was such a dark and gloomy day, that it kind of made the Daytona 500 look more prestigious.
This is when NASCAR started moving more races to a later start and finish to try to get the prime time TV audience. This is also when TV ratings started to drop from their absolute peak from 2005. One of many examples of how Bri-guy kept fixing NASCAR until he broke it.
A crossroads 500- First race to end at night, first race in decades without Ricky Rudd/Rusty Wallace, the debut of the Ford Fusion, and so many driver changes (All 3 Ganassi cars had different drivers from yr before, Kurt Busch/Jamie Mac)
@@TheRacingGenius88Yeah. Crappy FOX, Destroyed The DAYTONA 500 Brodcast. Since NBC Is Staying, NBC Needs To Broadcast The DAYTONA 500 Every Year, Like They Did From 2002 To 2006.
I liked the race it was a fun race day to watch but I was not even born but to put the replay on thanks and now my favorite J.J won his first Daytona 500 on 2006
Good old days when NBC broke in from commercial when a crash happened. I also remember all that talk about Waltrip abandoning Jr, and he had to do it all on his own at Daytona. He could of won the Daytona 500 and Uaw Ford 500 at Talladega if he had help from anyone.
I don’t think it’s that funny. You can hear the dread in his voice. That was the scary part, it’s very surprising that Kinsey’s missed everyone. So Weber had as much of a natural reaction as anyone else in that situation. So, Weber was like we were expecting Kenseth to get absolutely destroyed by every car.
You might have noticed one of the songs used this promo for the 2006 Daytona 500 for NBC was Click Click Boom the song would be the winner this past week for The Rod Ryan Show in 'Houston for 94.5 the Buzz's throwback Thursday. I just thought you'd know that.
Casey Mears plays the sleeper... actually finished second not Ryan Newman... Jimmie Johnson said himself Casey Mears is for most underrated driver or at least was
@@TravisMSimpson ah. Guess three years back I was delusional cause of the camera angles, it’s just crazy to think how popular nascar was back than. Wish it still was
@@TravisMSimpson yeah. If nascar embraced what got them popular in the first place rather than being something there not they would be in a much better place. I mean it’s not all doom and gloom. Ratings have steadied and even rose over the past year
@@kcksutx4816 yeah but 4 million average on the main channels and 2 on the back up channels compared to when they had from what I understand an average of 10 in the 2000s. There is a reason the races start when they do, ratings show the networks NASCAR isn't really worth their time anymore. Everyone talks about the crappy coverage of FOX and NBC, basically the networks are sabotaging their coverage on purpose because they don't care. We saw the same thing with TNT and ESPN
36:30 This is the same Fergie who botched the National Anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, exactly 12 years after a flawless rendition at Daytona...if she performed well at Daytona in '06, how come she messed up at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game? Inquiring minds wanna know...
Fr I wish they still had those cars I don't like the new cars and get rid of stage racing that's why I stopped watching nascar and just decided to watch the old nascar races
Tony "hypocrite" Stewart. Never liked him. The two biggest penalties enforced in this race Stewart STARTED!! But got of scott free. Glad he's retired. Whiner and dirty driver.
Yeah, after all that talk all week about people keeping their heads and don't be aggressive until the end, and then he goes out and has many altercations with several drivers. I think he said after the race Kenseth bumped him earlier, but the replay showed he got loose all by himself.
Fergalicious; she should sing the anthem at ALL the races as well as the Pledge (her right hand covering her heart), _God Bless America_ and leading a long, direct pre-race prayer along with 10 minutes of memorial silence for fallen NASCAR personnel straight after the pledge (that's how long her hand will remain on her heart). 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
