I’ve been doing it for a long time so I have developed some feelings when it comes to torque. I agree with you (and other viewers) and always torque my bolts for the videos now. Thank you for your comment.

Great videos very thorough by chance can you post the model or number of the case bearing I see it’s Koyo and where do you get it? Thanks keep up the great content.
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for your feedback and support. The Koyo bearing is double sealed so be sure to remove one of them and put the bearing with the seal facing in. www.ebay.com/itm/163734036258?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4qcIU-gFTJm&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=K8gv8TS9R3W&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Alot of power in fact, too much power, soo many of these bikes rods blow up due to the high RPMs, bought a 07 YZ250F to rebuild and the rod grenaded and destroyed the cilylinder and two valves are bent

If the actual head is OK, depending on what you paid for the bike, it may be worth sourcing the parts to rebuild

Excellent video Just subscribed. I just got a 2005 yz250f to very clean. it runs great the only thing is 5th gear is blow out. It shifts super smooth up to 5th to then 5th is crunchy neutral. I just decided I’m going to do a WR transmission swap. According to old forms it should be a direct swap. going to upload a video of the swap on my channel to. ordered a mint 2013 wr250f transmission, all oem seals, timing chain, and bunch of other stuff.

As a bike builder, bottom ends top ends etc.. do you do flat rate pricing on bottom ends on labor? I’ve done 50 or so. Just curious. Love your channel!
@restoroosterohv

Yes, depending on how deep I get. For example, a crank and bearing replacement would generally be $400 + parts. Thanks for your support.

@@restoroosterohv I did a full frame off rebuild on a 2009 YZ250F. It wasn’t until I had the whole bike done, rebuilt and running I realized what I think originally caused the bottom connecting rod bearing failure. Someone installed a works connection guard on the right hand side of the bike under where the water pump cover is. Ironically the oil line rubbed though on the very device put on to protect it and leaked the oil out.
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 10 месяцев назад
@@northernmx5973 yeah, that'll do it. Hopefully you noticed it before any damage.

Were those titanium valves? I've heard a lot of folks say it's not the best to lap titanium valves.
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 10 месяцев назад
I generally don’t use titanium valves on my rebuilds due to the cost. I use stainless steel. You are absolutely correct, titanium should not be lapped due to damaging the coating. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Another good one . Now I have a question if you don’t mind , I have a 2012 kxf 250 with a snapped cam carrier and damaged head. I’m struggling to find a used head for this year are there any other years that I can used a the cylinder head from? Other than the 11/12 models .Thanks mate appreciate it.
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 10 месяцев назад
Thank you for your support and feedback. Unfortunately for you, the 2011 and 2012 heads are the only ones that will work on your machine. Not sure what your budget is but there a few complete heads on eBay now. You could also check Marketplace but beware of scammers. Good luck.

@@restoroosterohv sorry for late reply. I’ve just read that apparently the 09 /10 heads fit but they don’t have the temp sensor on like the 12s do . I know in terms of part numbers they are the only ones. Is there any other reason why the 09/10 heads won’t work other than the temp sensor?. Also I’m in the uk and there isn’t a single used 12 head on any of the sites . Not even marketplace .
@restoroosterohv
@restoroosterohv 10 месяцев назад
@bardy9240 I don’t want to steer you wrong here. I unfortunately don’t have any experience with using 09/10 cylinder heads on the 11/12 so I’m not going to be much help to you here. The temp sensor is extremely important and will cause starting issues if not installed properly (see my “Hard to start” video on my KX450F). I am building a 2011 now and I need the head otherwise I would certainly sell it to you.
@bardy9240
@bardy9240 10 месяцев назад
@@restoroosterohv no problem mate . I know you would help out if you could , I’ve watched all your videos you’re as genuine as they come . The temp sensor housing is present on the 09 head I’ve been advised it can be drilled out and tapped. A new bare head here is £670 valves £240 for intake and exhaust without springs and seals etc. this used head is £425 complete .

@bardy9240 believe me, I love to save money. Let me know if that works out for you. I might be able to help someone else out in the future that has that question. Good luck!
