Just a quick video of the oil filter and pan locations on the GS eclipse. I know there are hundreds of videos on how to change your oil online, but I figured this would help a first timer or anyone that is unsure. The rest is the same as any other oil change, which you can watch a more detailed video.
This will also work on any 4G69 engine: Lancer Ralliart, Galant, and Outlander.

The oil cap screw is stripped and afraid to use a drill to drill it out that metal shavings will get into the oil fill up tank

Whenever I change my oil the valves sound terrible for a few hours do u have this problem

lowell horn No, I haven't noticed this at all. What weight and type of oil are you running? This engines are known to have valve lash and need adjustment every 90k or so supposedly. Maybe it could be that.

Does the type of oil matter? Like it can use regular oil instead of synthetic right?

It matters yes. If the car is brand new you just need the 5W-20 oil, after racking up some miles like 100,000 or more it's best to use 5W-30 full synthetic oil, it's thicker oil and makes your cars engine life last way longer.

Where is the egr/pcv on the eclipse? My manual doesn't have it listed.

Jezus G Top left corner. Under the plastic cover that says 2.4L. That line is the pcv line. The valve itself is screwed into the valve cover.

what was the size of the drain bolt did u have and also the oil filter size?

It's a 17mm if I remember correctly. The oil filter size, I can't remember since it varies from one manufacturer to another

How many ft/lbs do u torque it typically? cuz what I got was a 16mm

@@vincentquintero8028 I just do it hand tight. I may take a hammer and lightly tap it once or twice to make sure its nice and tight but nothing crazy. It's only a drain bolt, and as long as it doesn't drip a crazy amount, its not that serious imo.

How hard is it to change the pan itself ?

Not too bad. There are a lot of bolts surrounding the pan. Just remove those and get a screw driver or pry bar and pop the pan off. Then scrap off all the old RTV. Put some new gasket sealer on the new pan and bolt back in. Be sure to wait a couple of hours to let the RTV dry or use a gasket if available before you add oil.

Lefty loosy works if you are looking straight at the bolt. If you are positioned in front of the pan it is the opposite lol

Reset the oil service light? This car doesnt have one. If the oil light is on, you have low oil pressure

@@sevensickszero6112 Yea that's not good man. The service engine soon is your check engine light and the oil light means low oil pressure, so there is probably something seriously wrong with your engine. I would have it checked out asap
