2006-2019 GSXR 600/750 Stator and Stator Cover Replacement

In this video you'll see how to remove and install the stator, stator cover and the process in-between. If I can do it, you can as well. You'll see that I only replaced the cover itself, but that requires pulling the stator out too. If you're ONLY replacing your stator, then do the same process but unplug it from the rectifier and plug your new one in, then continue the same process that I've shown. Hope this helps... We all know GSXR's and the charging systems suck! xD

You don't put loctite on the 8mm's that hold the covers on do you? Just the ones holding the stators?

That is correct! Only on the three holding the actual stator down to the cover.

bike wasn't charging battery, aka dead battery every 10min running. tested via ohms, DMM, rotor was giving less than manual specs. Bought new one, ran same ohm test, new one passed easily. mounted new stator. your video was invaluable!! i followed your route with the gears and the smaller back plate. The washer on the end, mine seamed either magnetic OR a good hole into the lining, not sure which. I was paranoid about dropping washer in, since the amount of effort to get cover off again, no thx. Went fine, i put smaller cover on and it meshed 1st try with the mounting holes. Felt good. Haven't started her up, need to get more oil first. I love the feeling of dissolving mystery. (didn't know what that stator part was until i was trouble shooting) i didn't think "what's that do?" but after having studied mechanical ect, now i know all parts. BUT knowing parts vs experience of working on them are different. Knowing about an alternator or stator is one thing.. crimping your fingers between 2 magnetic parts.. you learn. (thankfully i didn't, BUT had a close OCRAP.. as it did snap back on and caught me surprised.)

Thanks a ton for the comment. I’m very glad that the video helped, as that was my intention in the first place (to guide people through this install). Things can seem quite intimidating at first, but hopefully people realize they can do it if I can too. I’m very glad to hear your experience went well and that you’re back at it! Great work on the troubleshooting too. Best wishes - TWT!

@twowheelthings
@twowheelthings 8 месяцев назад
Hey man… So usually they’ll drop all the way to the oil pan. So you’ll most likely need to drop the exhaust, then remove the oil pan. It should be in there. When putting the pan back on, you can sometimes reuse the gasket that’s on there if it’s not broken or damaged, or sometimes I use yamabond

How can I know if the cover is OEM? It is necessary to use Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker
@twowheelthings
@twowheelthings 2 года назад
You can check the part number on the inside of the cover. You'll usually also notice that the weight of an OEM cover is generally a little heavier than aftermarket ones. I would stick to the model number to ensure it's an actual OEM part though. As far as the gasket maker, I generally don't use that on these bikes. I order a gasket, throw it on and it tends to do really well. I've personally never used anything else besides the gasket itself on these bikes.

It's always best to drop the oil pan. IT IS NEVER good for any pieces to get in your engine. Generally with GSXR's, the metal will get pulled to the drain plug, but you'll probably want to drop that pan.
