To not reuse the oil filter cap or the o-ring? If you have a new o-ring I would definitely use the new one. If you don't have a new one as long as the old one is not cracked anywhere and pliable you should be able to reuse. Most new oil filters come with an o-ring so this should not be an issue.

@dia_guys seems like it was all one piece oil filter and oil filter cap. I discarded it and bought a new cap a d the oil filter clips in and out

I'd suggest looking in the owners manual and use the oil the manufacturer recommends which meets all of the testing requirements. In this video I used a 15W-40 motor oil for diesel engines.

In the video I said the truck went 10k before the oil change. That was really too long, but this truck does not frequently carry heavy loads and tow. In all of my other vehicles I change the oil every 5,000 miles (even with synthetic) and we have started to do that with this truck too, it's just a little painful ($$) with the amount of oil this truck takes. I have heard of others using a 7,500 mile interval that may also be ok. An oil change interval of 5,000 miles makes it easier for me to know when a change is due and also makes sure we have good quality oil in the truck, which is likely good insurance. Also check the owners manual for recommendations from Ford. You should have a supplement manual for the power stroke. Ultimately you should change on the interval they recommend. In the back of the manual in the scheduled maintenance it looks like the oil and filter change interval is 7,500 miles. For severe duty (excessive idling, towing over 1,000 miles, dusty or off road, frequent short trips, sustained high speed driving when loaded in hot conditions, pg 38) they recommend a 5,000 mile service interval for the oil and filter. Yes. I have bought an aluminum one to install since this video. The stock one is plastic. It's ok.

If you're looking for the part number for the filter, you can just do a search on an auto parts website (Advance Auto, Napa, O'Reilly, Auto Zone, etc.) with your truck model, year, and engine for what fits your application. For the diesel engine I used a 15W40 motor oil from Mobil. Just check your owners manual to make sure what you are going to use matches the requirements in the owners manual.
