2006 Kawasaki ZX10r oil change. Please read my comments too.

Quick oil change before our cruise night ride. Lower faring came off very easy and I suggest doing it for the 3rd gen ZX10. Oil will get on the headers if you don't put tin foil over them during filter removal.
I talk about 3.5 quarts with filter change, please disregard. The 06 took all of 4 quarts, it put the level just below top line on sight glass. Do not put all 4 quarts in at once as things can vary. Overfilling your bike is a PITA. I looked at tons of stuff and saw 3.5, must be for other generations of this bike.

My service manual states 23 ft. lbs for the oil filter and 15 ft. lbs for the drain plug.

Yep we found it on a downloaded manual. I do state it in the vid after flipping through 500 pages of the shop manual. I must say 23 pounds on the filter was a lot of torque.

I would use a good 10-40 synthetic. Make sure its motorcycle oil without the friction additives.

Love the video! Call me biased because I own the very same year and model bike. Where did you get the replacement crush washer from or can you tell me the crush washer's measurement?

This is my Brothers son in law's bike. He just told the guy at the counter and he was handed it with no packaging. It the one that looks like a regular washer but a lighter material. Sorry its on the bike and never measured it.

Oh no problem. After a little research, I found that the Kawasaki OEM part number for the crush washer is 92065-097... just in case someone else is searching. Thanks again.

How do you read the oil gauge? Is it just supposed to fill up the whole bubble??

It just needs to be in the middle line. That being said though, total subjective. I go 3/4s to the top line. Never above. More oil more cooling.

Also. Read the bubble in the upright riding position/ angle.

@@richmsx125 thank you I already figured it out I just couldn’t see the lines on the outside because it was dark lol I shined my phone light in there and felt like an idiot!
