Late to game, got mine a year ago. Thank you so much, my 08 has 470k. Bought it to transport my wife to cancer treatments. Greatest investment EVER. Lost her, will never let this car go. Thank you for your knowledge and passion. Thank you thank you.
Get the 2011 to 2013 ( I prefer) definitely get the history report. Check the suspension make no leaks and DO NOT GET AIR SUSPENSION unless recently replaced. ( I doubt it’ll be) I have two LS one 11 and a 13 love them both. I can send pictures if you like to see
MERCEDESBENZS600 S500 not as smooth.. but still smooth. I’ve notice the difference. If I purchase one I’d make sure a Warrantee comes with it. It’s a 5K to 8K service for air suspension part and service.
Working at a Lexus dealer there’s a good amount of 460 drivers with well over 200k. One guy has a 2010 600hL with 353k. You can look at everything and say the car has 60k miles.
@@iamryan4130 this is hilarious, I actually just worked with him yesterday and got to drive his car around, he’s at 372,XXX miles, the hybrid system is still all original, all we did for him was an oil change and rear diff service. The battery is still holding up well and the V8 engine up front doesn’t knock or burn any oil, and even with that many miles the 600hL still flies
@@iamryan4130 in my opinion I think it’s because they do a better job making smaller engines, their inline 6 is indestructible. The v8s have too much tech and too much plastic so something failing is a matter of when. They design vehicles with the intent of components failing. Lexus makes good v8 engines, great ones but they tend to be less reliable than their v6’s and 4cyls.
We bought an 07' LS460 last year with 92k. The original owner did a great job of having all Recalls and TSBs taken care of as well as maintaining the interior and exterior finishes. The only thing that my mechanic could find wrong with the car was that it was a little down on horsepower and throttle response. My mechanic cleaned the air intake system and the mass airflow meter for $80 and the engine now runs very strong with snappy throttle response. Other than that, we haven't had to repair anything, just oil and filter changes. Excellent car. Super comfortable seats and ride. Accelerates fast when you want it to.
Great job. I drive a 07 L trim with 185k miles. I love it. Update. My car now has 208k miles on it. It still drives like a dream. Toyota makes great vehicles.
I can confirm that the valve spring recall is redeemable anytime. Did mine on 7 years old pre-owned LS imported to Europe from US and local dealer did the job no questions asked.
I have an appointment today to test drive a 2010 base model LS, one owner corporate car with 100,000 miles and complete dealer service history and I found this video REALLY helpful. I appreciate your effort in putting this out. Thanks!
Just got a 2007 LS 460L and couldn't be happier, air suspension isn't too bad once you look into it, easy to upgrade to aftermarket air or use a controller to adjust ride height with data systems, even has the link adjustment where you can lower it on the factory air settings as well, and it's easy to convert over to a traditional four-loader system, I like the fact that I have the option to stay air or easily convert
Thanks! This was mainly a buyers guide but I did do an actual road review and full feature tour on my channel if you’re interested definitely a great car!
Mark Levinson sound system is amazing, once you have it you can not go back to generic sound system in a vehicle....I had a 2010 LS460 with 135K miles that i took in routinely for standard oil changes at dealer and had no problems with the car and just traded in and got excellent trade value
I've been watching your series about owning 2007 Lexus LS 460 and loving them. You have done a great service for buyers like me who are scared of costs of ownership of a used LS 460. Thank you ! You can put all these videos in a playlist so they are easier to find in one place.
Review is ON POINT I’ve had control arms and water pump replaced on my 2007 LS460....both under warranty ... My brake actuator recently failed and since I love the car I’m getting it repaired although it’s pricey and isn’t covered under the extended enhancement warranty given by Lexus....I also had to have my trunk actuator replaced which wasn’t expensive at all....
A quick note, there were issues with squishy upper dashboard and upper front door and armrest materials. Many 2007-2009 had this replaced under warranties or paid hefty amounts to get their dashboards and front door cards replaced
Just purchased a 2011 460 L, in the Granite color with 60k miles. Just wanted to give you a shoutout, as thanks to your videos on these cars, i was able to make a well informed purchase. Short story I'm loving this car, glad to be part of the LS crew now.
I have a 10 Ls460, have had the brake actuator replaced under warranty and had to replace all my shocks! 5 years and those are the only two major problems i had! I have 3 lexus cars and they are almost bullet proof! Reliability is the main reason i love Lexus!
I have owned Lexus since 1995, l sold my last 2012, it was the greatest of all of the ones that I owned. I now own a IS 250 AWD, twin turbo v6 built engine. Great car!
I find myself going through phases with cars and watch your videos multiple times over the course of different years. I appreciate you making these as they are super helpful to refer back to. You’ve reviewed most cars I’ve ever watched to learn about as we like the same kinds. Would you ever have another 460?
Thanks for the video. As an owner of a 2007, I'd also mention the issue with sticky/cracking door panels. Some owners on the Club Lexus forum were able to get this fixed without charge, but I have not had the same luck.
Hey glad you appreciate the video. Yea the only issue I recall reading about was the vents cracking. Try out some other dealers perhaps with a high rating on google. You may have to travel a bit to find a good dealer in a populated area
I just bought a used 2007 with 123K miles, very clean just two owners, FL car, clean CARFAX no accident, and one owner was a dealer. I did what you said and signed up at Lexus to see the vehicle maintenance history, and it was manintenance with Lexus until 122K. I am so happy. I took it to my mechanic and he said only the wipers needed to be replaced, and oil change. He was impressed with the price I paid, and said it was ready to drive to California. Only other thing which is minor is the roof trim peel. I am thinking about taking it off and getting it painted. I might even do it myself. Bar none this is the best car I have ever owned and I bought several cars new. Great review dude!
Hey congrats on your new purchase that’s awesome my friend. Glad the Lexus drivers tip was useful and it was smart to get it inspected. I’ve also owned a lot of new cars and driven new cars but man this thing is something special. Enjoy the ride and thank you so much for watching!
@@eternalafterlyfe I eventually traded the car for a new Honda HRV. A few reasons. #1. Gas. Once prices started going up it was a bear to fill 60-80 every week with premium for a 22 gallon tank. #2 minor things started happening that would put the car out of commission e.g. the trunk latch actuator went out. I couldn't find it anywhere, Lexus wanted to charge $2500, eventually I found it on e-bay but had to wait a month because it was being shipped from Japan. Then the oxygen sensor went out and it was a whole different issue because its located on the fire wall and not an easy fix. I couldn't do it myself and it cost. Other than that the next thing up was going to be the control arms and I had enough. It still rode like a dream, white fluffy cloudy, like driving a craftmatic bed, but it still is a 2007. If I had the money time and patience I would have kept it, but alas. I hope this info is helpful.
My brother recently picked up a 07 460 and it's a pretty awesome car! Paid 14k for one with 41000 miles. Never been in an accident, one owner, all recorded regular maintenance! I prefer my is350, by the comfy LS has grown on me!
Wow congrats and incredible price was it at a dealership? And yes the IS350 is an incredible sports sedan as well you guys know what’s up when it comes to cars. Thanks so much for stopping by
@@MeynMotorGroup yes it was at a dealership, was priced quite below other ones for sale, so he jumped at the chance! Thanks for making awesome content!
Wow I am looking at one and it's a private seller says he has all service records 2007 with the luxury package . 94k miles he's asking 14 for it . By the pics it looks clean , considering going to look at it in person though
skers, actually $14,000 is quite a bit above Kelly blue book and you definitely want to look at the service history from the dealership or better pass if you don’ have it. I was offered $6250 for my LS460L recently in close to mint condition for a trade in at Ontario Lexus with 120,000 mi. And body in 100% excellent condition that was a mailer to buy a a new LS 👎🏻
I’ve driven the LS since 1991, 2 LS400, 2 LS430, 1 SC430, and 1LS460. Prior to 1991 I drove Mercedes, BMW & Jaguar and all 3 brands spent way too much time and $ in the shop plus depreciated huge when over 125,000 miles. None of the Lexus broke and resale numbers way superior. If you’re getting the LS460 I recommend the 2011 or 2012 where control arms resolved and other minor issues resolved. Sadly, with the new “snow plow look” ugly grills I can’t own a 2013 on up, but I’m retired and at age 74 my low mileage 2012 maybe my last, ha ha! Even with COVID era inflated prices the 2011s are just under 20K. Great video!
I had a 2010 for 8 years. I purchased in 2013 with 20k and sold it in 2021 with 107k. It was the perfect car! I traded up for 2018 LS500. The only issue I had was the suspension. Make sure that its been replaced before purchasing.
The brake actuator issue may be related to H2O contamination of the brake fluid and corrosion within the actuator if the fluid is not flushed regularly. Brake fluid will attract H2O over time. Regular brake fluid flushes will minimize H2O within the fluid. Many owners and many mechanics ignore this maintenance.
Great Video, I'm the owner of a 2007 LS460 with 280K and love it. last fall, I replaced lower and upper control arms, so far so good. Best car I've ever owned and the most reliable.
Good post, I am a 2013 LS460 AWD owner, had 108k miles on it, so far so good. The ML audio system is a must for LS. The AWD version come with a LSD which make it handling better. The spring suspension on LS is good enough, Air suspension didn't make a huge difference.
Current owner of an '07 RX 350. I want either An LS 430/460 or GS 430. It's really hard to find a V8 powered GS, though so I'll roll with the LS. Great video. You gave me a lot of insight on the 460.
Nice and thanks so much for your kind words I’m glad to be of help. I would actually go for a very clean LS430 with a warranty I think you will really love that motor, insanely smooth
Stanley Williams yeah patiently in the market for an 04-06 LS430 myself. such a player car and I’m a sucker for a beautiful and reliable car. Only thing I’m worried about is will it have some go for cruising the curvy roads n country hills. But my motorcycle should cover my speed thrills. I have a ‘17 honda hrv (great lil crossover) and I always ask myself why didn’t I save a lil money and snag a used 07-10 RX lol my mom had 06 and it was great till my lil bro totaled it
08-13 .. beleive it or not ... only 1600 gs 460s were ever built in these yrs and that model ... gs 460 .. 342 hp , detuned (with smaller manifold ) but same engine as the 390+ hp ls .... get a gs 460 .. send to perforance shop .. for a $1k get an uptune to get your ls HP it should have and engine built for (cant have luxary model , gs , same HP as sports model ., ls .. ) ... plus gs is rear wheel drive ... awd costly to repair ... gs is rare , only 1600 08 13 models so better resale value being a rarer car ...
I paid 6000.00 straight cash for 2008, black on black. I was told by seller , an honest person in my opinion the car will need the dreaded actuator and that is reason to get rid of the car. Bought it anyway. I am a tree shade wrench and will replace the actuator myself and gravity bleed it for couple of days if it need be. Yes it will be couple of gallons of brake fluid but so is life. The one thing to watch while bleeding is not to introduce any moisture into system, kinda pita but easy does it, And then take it to the dealer for programming. This ought to save me thousands. Some have had dificulty getting the thing licensed so they can drive it to the garage even, to replace the actuator. There is tempoary fix looking back at you when facing the dash, did I say dash? Get creative..... And yes it is temporary, right! An no need to mess with programing either, just common sense and a screewdriver.. The one concern I noticed while pulling the wheels is the Jacking Points on the body, they leave much to be desired for. Especially in rust belt areas, where I am at. They suffer from sloppy application of jacks and easy fold to curbside or from.I will clean the area of paint to the bare metal and weld small reinforcement into them, repaint and have a beer. Just got me one of the Vevor air jacks and that thing is a hoot, well worth the money (it was 150.00 cnd. That jack beats the factory scissor one by far. Other than that the car is definitely worth the money I spent. Only one thing I would add, the factory 18" wheels on this car are really heavy. Will go aftermarket with something more jazzy and light. Seen some nice gold ones, jikes! Ps: Kevin's review are top notch! I like his no nonsense and clear relaxed pace of presentation, thank You Kevin!
I own a 08 460 with rear entertainment (ML).61k miles with full Lexus SH..i also own a 2012 XJL Supersport with the VIP 650hp conversion.. awesome car for sure but when we switch to going out in our Lexus.. one word sums it up.. Blissful x We love our Lexus.. its like a poor mans Rolls Royce Phantom
I'm a new owner of a 2007 LS460L w 165K miles. It's my first highendcar and l've spent the first year ironing kinks-- lm out $12.5K. The quality of family road trips is unmatched! I want be able to boost 300+ miles too. I love your conversational, confident manner.
I may be wrong but I believe you can just change the bushings on the control arms. Not that difficult of a job and saves a ton of money. So if just the bushings are worn, check out going that route.
Great review for me. I'm looking for an LS460 right now. I've looked at a couple, but now I feel like I've got more ammo to negotiate a better price. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks for this!
@@MeynMotorGroup Just got mine today! 2008 SWB w/ML stereo and RWD just over 100,000 miles. Very happy with the car. Not too happy about the aftermarket rims though. I'll look for some OEM rims.
Review was spot on. When I got my 2009 460 with 131k miles all that needed to be done was the front control arms that were shot common problem got them fixed replaced them myself. But do beware the brake actuator brake booster and sometimes abs pump will go out on these, if you don’t have some sort of warranty or you bought a 460 that had these replaced recently be careful. Not saying it’s some hidden secrets but I’m currently saving 6k to replace the brake actuator and ABS pump as they both failed which was a given as my car is 14 years old with now 145k miles but I really did not expect them to fail at the same time Lexus looked at it for free as I do work there and confirmed the problem. I don’t to much mind as I have other cars but kinda bums me out Lexus doesn’t grant a extended warranty for a part they know fails yeah you could say it’s a part that will need to be replaced such as brakes but we have had 460s with 40k 50k miles come in for the same problem my car has. Lexus did have a warranty back in 2016-2017 but only for a year. All around good car literally nothing else is wrong with it like at all. Everything works inside and out the most comfortable Lexus I’ve ever sat in. It’s more comfortable than the new LS 500s yes I’m being serious I drive all types of Lexus 5 days a week.
Bros you aint lying. That LONG WHEEL BASE with the self parking assist and all that...man..i went through 3 sets of control arms in 3 years. The car was super duper attractive and luxurious...but one year I spent about $6k in repairs..i had to drive that big body to CarMax and get rid of it and catch an uber home...
Excellent review, I appreciate your info and background! I have owned a 2007 LS460L in Smokey Granite Mika for almost four years now. I purchased the car from a dealership in Illinois with 53k miles on it (currently have 58k). She sits more than she is driven, but she has been babied her entire life. All service by me and the previous owner completed at Lexus dealerships. A few things to point out from my experience... After I purchased the car I did notice a faint squeaking noise when first applying the brakes. I brought it to my local Lexus dealer and was concerned it was the brake actuator after doing some research online (mechanically the brakes were performing fine and no warning lights were on). Agreed to try a brake bleed but the noise still was there. They ended up replacing the entire brake actuator system for free under the enhanced warranty (TSB-54191) in 2017 and never charged me for the original brake bleed job. Also, in April 2020, Lexus mailed me a letter with details about extending the original 10 year warranty enhancement (even further than it originally was) so when I brought it in for an oil change this year I asked the service advisor about it. Again, they replaced everything free under the warranty. It did not have any sticky components or cracks, rather the glove box and the sides of the center console were slightly discolored from the original black color. They replaced all the door panels, glove box, console, and dashboard. The service advisor said if paid out of pocket it would be close to $7,500 for this repair. The only problems I've had with the car were the passenger side mirror stopped folding in when locked, and the driver lumbar support didn't engage. When I bought the car I purchased an extended warranty (4y/50k coverage for $2,750 and a $50 deductible) and both were covered. If I didn't have the extended warranty I would likely not have fixed them as both are conveniences and don't affect the performance of the car. I also own a 2013 RX and have had good reliability and service experiences with the Lexus dealerships. My two cents is if you own or are looking to purchase a Lexus is to connect with a local Lexus service advisor and try to do at least some of your maintenance and repair work there. Indeed, they do take excellent care of you and your car, but I sincerely believe they will work with you should something come up. I bought my RX in August of 2016 as a certified vehicle. It came with an unlimited mileage warranty for two years and a few complementary oil changes/tire rotations. Fast forward to December 2018 I brought it in for an oil change and the service advisor waived these charges and even changed the brake fluid, wiper blades, and engine/ac filters (even though the comped services ended August 2018). Understandable that not everyone wants to spend the extra money on dealer repairs, but the old saying "good is not always cheap, and cheap is not always good" rings true. I went to a Lexus from a Mercedes (also owned an Audi and Volvo) but will likely never leave the Lexus brand. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the design direction they went to on the newer vehicles, but for me service and reliability will outweigh that factor by a long mile. And no, I am not an employee of Toyota or Lexus, just a passionate owner sharing his experience.
Regarding the front dash cracking and/or melting from continuous high heat like experienced in southern states, my local Atlanta Lexus dealer told me last month that Lexus is still willing to replace the dash under warrantee even for 2007 models over 100k.
Rock chipped front end … that’s actually a good tip! Obviously just one small clue as you build a case for or against a vehicle you’re considering … but personally I do prioritize mechanical state over aesthetic condition, I’ll take low miles bad paint over high miles good paint- and obviously the perceived abuse or care in said miles
Excellent video. I am at the end of my 2001 430LS which was already stuffed with electronics. All of them still work except for the cruise control module that gave out a year ago. A fix would cost more than the car is worth to me. And so I am looking at getting another LS. Momentarily considered an A8 but as reliability is a BIG thing for me and I do not need super powers in my car, LS wins again. The air suspension on mine has been problem free, so I would actually recommend it. Breaks are fine, but unless you go for the high end rotors, they strain and wobble which is a pain. Other than that this is a superb car.
@@fantasma.b it's been good so far. The control arms are all in good if not great condition. I took it in for the the valve spring recall two weeks ago and that has been fixed by lexus. I haven't put any money in repair or anything else since I got it but that's about to change. The rear passenger strut is leaking fluid and that needs to be changed. I'm planning on going with oem strut as I love how it rides. I dont want to lose that with an aftermarket strut. I also plan to change the differential fluid too cos I'm plaanning 800 miles round trip which is my main reason for getting the car. The only thing disappointing so far I have noticed is the audio system. Mine has the premium audio with 10 speakers and the audio quality is disappointing.
Yo. Scored my wife an '06 430 with 109k on the clicker. Thing rolls like new, pretty much. We're amazed. We were able to pay cash for it, and to ride around in that without a car payment has us reconsidered everything.
One advantage to the hybrid LS600hl with executive pkg is enjoying hvac +power seat in accessory mode with engine off. Yes, there is additional expense, but taking an afternoon nap break at work is priceless!
The 2007 to 2012 Lexus LS 460 is one of the best used cars you can buy. Incredibly reliable, sufficiently luxurious, and probably the best looking LS of all time, at least so far. Nice details in and out.
I'm going to pick up a black 2009, with 46k miles, tomorrow! One owner, TX car. It is mint! This will be my 8th Lexus, and 5th LS. I've never had a 460. I've had 3 400s and 1 430. I love these cars!
I want to advise anyone considering to buy a used vehicle to have a through Pre-Purchase inspection done by either the Lexus dealer (about $140) or your trusted mechanic (about $80), even if the car has the reputation of being indestructible. Two out of three of the LS460s that I had inspected did not pass a thorough inspection. By this I mean that they had cumulative problems that added up to not being financially worth buying even if the seller discounted the car. Tried to buy a 2005 to 2012 Acura TL for my son. Had five inspected and all failed badly even though these were very well built cars. They looked awesome, but the previous owners just didnt take care of them. I consider spending $80 (or even $140) to save me $5,000 of repairs well spent money.
@Yemi Yes, I never had any dealership refuse to allow me to take the car to my independent mechanic or to a dealership mechanic. If they were to refuse, I would walk away from that car. Many times I found a Lexus or Acura on a Chevy used car lot or a Chrysler used car lot and they always agreed to let me take it to a Lexus or Acura mechanic to check it out. I refused to talk price until I knew the condition first . One independent lot allowed us to leave our car at their lot and allowed us 3 days to keep the Acura to have it checked out by our mechanic and drive it around all that we wanted. We loved that car and bought it.
@Yemi I forgot to mention that if I was looking at an Acura at an Acura dealership, then I would take the car to my independent mechanic for review, rather than another Acura dealership. This way I don't have to worry about the dealership having a conflict of interest (example: the Acura dealership doing the review over states problems with the car so that they can try to get me to buy a car from their dealership instead- this actually happened once).
Couple of things to add - I had the 2007 Exec edition - the dash was sticky and melting, and I had to pay several hundred dollars to get it redone. Another early year issue was the braking click noise when shifting in reverse or backing up at slow speeds. I didn’t have this car long, but I had the previous car (2004 LS430) and loved it. 2007 was a letdown. It’s not a drivers car, at least the Exec edition. My current 2016 A8L with the APR tuned 545HP is everything I wanted.
I just bought a ls460sport edition yesterday for 9,500 cash... in good shape no obvious problems 300miles in so far. The isf style transmission and the big fsport breaks and sport suspension makes it fucking awesome to drive
I got lucky with a 2007 LS 460 with the rear seat package reclining, heat and cooled etc. 74.5 k miles 😮. Florida Car 1 owner all maintenance records. Taking it to the shop for a full breakdown. Took the car on a road trip already 8 hours total and was pleased! I've been driving a Benz for the last 10 years (but my Wife has a GS 300) and have had the C, E and S class style. Impressive Car.
Thank you so much about the service part. I’m looking at this LS right now and looks like the owner always took it at the local Lexus dealer for maintenance. You made helped my decision on purchasing the car. On my way to buy it now 👌🏽
Fantastic so happy for you and I’m humbled that I was able to help you in your buying process I would suggest a warranty and you should be good to go best of luck my friend
dhh488 mine is a 2011 and its silver just like this on the video s far I love it. The way it drive and the smooth power delivery of the V8 it’s fantastic. It’s a boat with a lot of power especially on my long drives. A week after I got it I took it from Chicago to Toronto, then Montreal then Quebec, Quebec. Then back to Chicago. The car handled amazing. Never been happy and content in a vehicle before. I recommend it 100%
Got my ‘11 460L in 3/2023 with 179k, I’m only 24 and I’m in love with this car.. I am not a fan of the newer models only this face!! No issues, I have 199k now and have to replace the control arm, maybe ball joint due to Nashville roads lol.. I’d rather replace that on this than anything on like a S550 or not comparing genesis or equs
So the lower control arm has problems? Glad you corrected the timing belt interval that was stated. I worked at Lexus and I’ve seen the timing belts go 190,000 to 280,000 cause the customers water pump started leaking. If it had not they would have still been driving the vehicle lol.
I love how you described the LS 430 as "bulletproof". I have the LS 430 and love the thing. I just hate how it doesn't have bluetooth connectivity for Pandora, RU-vid, etc.
@@MeynMotorGroup have you heard of anyone that was able to replace the in-dash receiver/GPS with another one that allows you to stream audio from your phone (either wireless or wired) through the LS 430's sound system?
GROM sells their V-line 1 and 2 Android based computers for the LS430. The V-line will allow you to have Apple Carplay , Bluetooth streaming , You Tube Music, Pandora etc all available via touch control from the original unit's main screen. It's pricey , but it will allow you to update and keep the original factory controls and appearance. GROM also sells a Bluetooth streaming only adapter for the factory system as well. Android tablet style replacement head unit's , made in China, are also available. They also have Bluetooth streaming capability built in. Ali Express sells the head unit's fairly inexpensively.
On my 2007, The seat belts, when un-snapped from their lock, hits the door (which is common) and has literally torn out large pieces of rubber/vinyl from both the arm rest and side trim. I have seen this on the early models. On the 2013 and newer models, Lexus re-engineered the side trim inward so it is not susceptible to seat belt damage. Why would the engineers install foam and vinyl on their side interior doors is besides me. My ls 400 1998 is all leather and looks like new. This model has been a 'train wreck'.
Wowza. I bought one used, a 2008 with the chrome rims. Until I saw this video, I assumed it had a donut space saver spare----never even checked. I found a used chrome rim on E-Bay, also found a matching tire, went to a shop and had it mounted and keep it in my trunk. After watching this, I just went out to the car and lifted that carpet in the trunk---and sure enough, a full sized spare on a matching rim, LOL. So I've been driving around with two full sized spares.
Thank you sir for stopping by! I’m so happy you found it useful and I know your audience can’t thank you enough for all the great information you have shared with us. Take care!
*The LS460 has more problems than you think. I have a 2008, garaged kept and original owner. The dash, door panels and glovebox area started melting and leaving finger prints and gouges when you touch it. If you live in a hot and sunny climate like here in texas this will happen to your car. Also my battery went bad last year and I had it replaced by lexus and the infotainment display has never worked since replacing the battery. Just says some black error message all the time, can't use backup camera, gps, or anything else. Luckily there is a separate button for the ac and radio so I can still use them but can't see anything on the screen. Lexus dealer said $3200 to replace the infotainment center so I said screw that. Also the paint on the drip rails has peeled off, its just basically some sort of wrap over shiny and smooth chrome so no wonder why it doesn't stick. These are just a few of the gremlins that the ls460 has. I have a 2005 ls430 as well and only thing I've had to replace on that car is the battery and front wheel hub, which just went bad a couple of weeks ago after 16 years! Long story short, the ls430 is a much more reliable car than the ls460.*
I bought my 2007 with 93k. It’s an L model with air ride which one air suspension already changed RR. The wind noise thing is annoying on highway drives when you want silence it’s like leaving the window with a crack open. My trunk motor lift went out. I changed all my control arm bushings they were all shot.
Didn’t mention the door armrest issue where the finish deteriorates and eventually breaks down. Also headlamp ride night adjusters flooring rear suspension and trunk latch failure
Glenn that is right for some reason my Ls460L, 2008, uses a qt. of oil. Every 2000 miles drying Hwy on cruise 85 MPH. I have always used Mobil 1 5w-20 or 0w-20. I am thinking my pcv valve may be stuck open but I am not going to have a Lexus dealer take the intake manifold etc... and change a $12 pvc valve ie(2.1 hrs. Labor; so I will try a different brand of 5w-20:oil. Believe it or not sometimes that will solve the problem. 🙄
The LS600hl is extremely reliable, there have been no reported problems with the CVT or the hybrid Powertrain seemingly, plus if you live in California the whole system is warrantied for 10 years and a hundred fifty thousand miles, I realize that some of them are already out of warranty but if you got like a 2011 or 12 you would have some warranty left presumably if it was under a hundred fifty thousand miles
Just bought a 2011 LS460l for 7k from a salvage auction with minor damage. Gonna fix it up and throw some 22s on it because the stock 18s are too small
Haven’t driven it I did review a 2003 LS430 tho loved it actually the engine is even smoother than this LS460 so I would think the LS430 would be a better choice over the 400 a bit more power and every bit as smooth
I really want one. In the Philippines, Found a 2012 LWB LS460 top of the line for 22000 USD, around 20k miles driven. The base models are impossible to find here as this is a car many super rich and diplomats like to use 😅
Mine too. VSC, ABS, Brake light, Traction control light and check engine light comes on and turns off. Oddly, Try replacing the gas cap. For some reason a lot of people got all the lights to go off and haven't had an issue since.
James Martinez I was on the highway when all the same lights came on. I had the actuator changed, hopefully I just have to change it once. It’s pretty expensive
RooBoo Xyss It's not just the actuator. The abs something also goes out and many people on the forums replace both at the same time to save on labor. I would love an LS but between $2000+ for faulty brake components, $1000 for cheap control arms because you can't get bushings (i hate using cheap looking aftermarket arms), the melting interior (only 10 year replacement from lexus) and 15mpg in the city...I unfortunately have to pass.
