I hope you read this - I have written a long big thank you note below: . So I have a 2014 Nissan and the ball joint blew as I parked my car. Yes I should have taken the car in sooner - my bad. On the one hand I was lucky the ball joint blew right off as I arrived in my parking spot, on the other hand I park in an underground spot in my condo. As it turns out no tow company will take a car out of an under ground condo parking in my city. All of a sudden I realised I was well and truly f$#ked. . There was only one alternative, do the ball joint replacement myself in my condo parking spot, without the perks of a full garage, trestles, tools etc. . I did a little research on the internet and found that a ball joint costs about $25. I walked over to the local Nissan dealership and they wanted to sell me the complete swing arm (including ball joint) for $441. And I don't have the capability to install the full swing arm in my garage using a simple spare wheel jack to raise the car. I went to a spare shop and bought the ball joint for $29. . I researched different videos on changing ball joints and came across yours. Your video is the most applicable due to the age of the Nissan. It appears Nissan used to fit their ball joint with a ring clip and then stopped the ring clip and only press fed the joints. This is a very important fact. I spent a lot of time agonising trying find the clip and your video showed that there is no clip (only the replacement joint will come with a clip). The mere fact that you broke the ball joint housing using a socket was also a big lesson to me. By turning the press tool more slowly I was able to not break the housing. . The long and short of it is: after watching your video and seeing how it's done, after some agonising hours of work, $300 worth of tools (that I will use in the future) I have a new ball joint. I'm free again. Yes I will take your advice and organise for a wheel alignment. . So again, thank you for posting this specific video. It was a huge saving grace. If you ever come to Toronto, your beer is on me!!

There was a bunch of hang-ups for me doing this job, that you never mentioned. And I'll tell you what, doing this on the ground, in sub-zero temps is, for lack of a better term, 'trial by fire'.

We got a 2010 versa put the summer tires on the other day , backed it out of the driveway and the ball joint let go and snapped cv joint , what a mess , thanks for the video

We are working on this exact replacement with our Nissan Versa Note -- both lower control arms getting replaced and cannot get that ball joint connection loose. Wishing we had an impact driver to play with, lol!

Ummmm, Yeah this guy sucks! Why would you ever just replace the ball joint on something like a Versa? The lower control are and ball joint come as a single assembly....
