This has been the most helpful video I have found. I have a 2008 cadillac escalade and there are many details that no one else has mentioned... like the star bolts and the seat plug removal. Thank you so much for posting!!
I enjoyed this video info, the clip tips, and especially needed the socket sizes for the seat bolt removal for an 08 Escalade. That saved me some time. Do some more videos on something from the wrecking yard.
On my 07 gmc Yukon Denali the seat won’t move forward or backwards any more it seems that one the right side wants to move but the left side of the seat doesn’t do you know what could be the issue? Or would you recommend me just buying a used seat from the junkyard I’m located in the dfw are as well
I have a looooong trip coming up where my wife will need to drive my truck, and I discovered that my seat won't move up anymore. So this is really helpful even 3 years later. Couple of questions. Are there airbags to worry about? And I see it's a Denali - how did you deal with seat heat/cooling stuff? Thanks!!
I just unplugged everything and did not worry about the integral airbag, cooling, and heating. If that is a concern, disconnect the battery and wait about 10 minutes before touching anything. Also if you are replacing seat the extra options vary from year to year and model lines. A mechanical seat will do the job till you find one that is a exact fit or at least a seat track that you can swap out. The vin number can be used with a phone call to the dealer. Ask for the rpo codes related to the seat so you can match it with the salvage yard parts. In my area, they would not sell seat parts separately, I had to buy a whole seat assembly.
@mrobvious1100 my vehicle does have presence sensors. If I put a object or my dog is sitting in the passenger seat it will alert me. The wire route probably changed and my model is in a different location.
@mrobvious1100 that connector can be removed and spliced permanently. Also the suggestion that it needs to be replaced is odd without observing that it is damaged. I assume that a electrical diagnostic was performed and the trouble was deemed to be that connector.
It would not move backwards. One of the drive shafts was damaged and gears too. I was not able to find replacement parts. The salvage yards only offered the whole seat.
