2007 Passat thermostat replacement the coolant was not going over 75 deg cel. and after the repair it was going to max temp. at 95 deg cel. when driving at 90 km\h the temp. reading are done with a scan tool not the cluster gauge .
they must still have it I think they have at least 2 version of it the one I have is yellow in color it is the one that is more heavy duty I use it when we receive some thing heavy and the truck dosen't have a hydraulic tail gate or to put some thing in the back of a pick up truck. and it lifts pretty high if you want to work on something and not be bent over.
jay 269 Hi the small O ring is the one on the black metal pipe www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/sealing-o-ring-priced-each/wht006407/ and the big one is the quick connector and I think it’s the same as the ones on the radiator big connections www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/coolant-pipe-o-ring-priced-each/n90765301/ you could mesure the O rings and compare with the links I provided.
@@V10PDTDI Thanks Christian! I finally got around to doing the thermostat today. It took me forever as the hoses and connector on the thermostat were on there really tight. I bought a mahle o-ring based off the reference in your link and it worked! Also for those reading this, o-ring part number N90365302 will also work.
when you removed the oil cap it looks like there is a blown head gasket., a lot of bronish milky stuff there. is that normal for a bad thermostat? or the car got another issue like blown head gasket?
MrCtvs777 Hi the head gasket was fine the fact that the thermostat was defective and not running the engine hot enuf the condensation in the oil is not able to evaporated and burn the contaminant in the oil plus the piece that the oil cap goes on is taller than the valve cover so condensation goes up that piece and stays there it mostly visible in winter months and not in the hot summer months.
Hey man Thank you so much your video was very helpful despite that not being the problem with my car, it was a great insite. I have a problem with my radiator fan, it comes on when the car is off. Can you help? What could this be?? Thank you greatly!
Sergio Montes do you have the same car ? With the same engine ? If yes then it would be normal for the radiator to run for a short period of time after you shut the engine when it’s hot if it does it with a cold engine then I would check for a fault in the engine computer for a bad collant temperature sensor or a sensor that is reporting a hotter temperature than what it really is.
I would rather just put some tape on that live wire rather than disconnecting the battery because resetting the clock is far more of a pain than setting the car on fire 🔥
I have an 08 Passat with 150k miles it just broke down on me because the timing belt died it however had never been changed so understandable I love my Passat still waiting to get it back from the mechanic because it needed repairs from the timing belt (valves; being that it has an interference engine) other than that and a purge valve for emissions it's been fantastic
I got the two bolts off with a regular socket, the thermostat is held in place by the metal antifreeze line that is bolted in and the torx do not work Im assuming it a triple square , is it a 5mm
Bottom hose= Knightmare. Save yourself some grief and disconnect the entire pipe from the radiator lower hose and remove thermostat along with bottom hose.
@@V10PDTDI I have a question for you, hopefully you can answer, I just replaced the thermostat on the 2007 Volkswagen Passat , before that I had an overheating issue, fans not coming on, I tested the fans with a battery the both come on, with the engine running I put the heat on and that works good, I'm assuming the water pump is working, I checked all fuses , all look good, the car runs fine as long as I am moving and the air is cooling the engine but in stop and go traffic it tends to overheat and I have to stop the engine. I checked the oil level is good and color looks normal. What can yo tell me that I can check or replace? Fan relay or cooling system sensor maybe?
i think it is normal to fall below 90 c becose this is how a thermostat it works it keep the water in the engine to reach working temp 87 - 90 degree c and it opens a litle bit to don.t overheat the engine then fall a bit to 85 and it close again on and on , a failure of thermostat is when the temp cannot reach 87- 90 it stay at 70 75 or it goes over 90 like 95 or more...
This is A very unhelpful video. Talking about removing a thermostat from a V6 Volkswagen it’s not as good actually showing video of what exactly it is that you did to remove all the necessary parts including the alternator serpentine belt etc. etc. listening to audiobook no help at all not helpful
