This is a great college car. Good mileage and isn't too expensive to maintain. It's basic...nothing really fancy about it. The Chevy Cruze is a better car, but for someone who's buying their first car..this isn't a bad purchase. Just don't pay over 10 grand for it tho.

canibus19 If you know how to drive a manual and want a little fun while driving the Cobalt SS Turbo/Supercharged is an excellent choice also. it's cheaper than a Golf GTi and Civic Si, More powerful than a Scion Tc and is still very reliable

I've got a 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged and it's the best thing ever. I mean seriously, I don't know how I will ever switch vehicles. Never had a problem with this vehicle. 5 star rating

My 2006 Cobalt has 129,700 miles on it, and she still runs as good as new. I bought her from an Enterprise sales lot (she was a former rental car and had 26,000 miles when I bought her in April 2007. It is now September 2017 and this now makes 10 years 5 months of ownership. I plan to keep Ashley (that's her name) until the wheels fall off. I take the car for its oil change regularly (It won't be Jiffy Lube anymore; too many horror stories about people having their cars ruined by those so-called technicians there). And I wash it every week. It still looks great; no rust anywhere.

I'm pretty surprised KBB liked the Cobalt so much! Usually they aren't to impressed with Domestic cars, but this makes me happy, seeing as this is one of my favorite Chevy models! :)

yeah its really good on the road. it has enough power for quick overtaking and rides smooth. I have averaged 30-32mpg highway on trips of 500miles and more. not the best interior build quality, i admit, but for the money, you can't beat the space( huge trunk), ride quality, and gas milage.

i got a cobalt lt coupe as my first car, my family only drives gm's and i can see why, its a great ride my dad has an oldsmobile silhouette and my mom drives a yukon, my brother drives a silverado and im gonna be the same way. btw were canadian so americans rest assured, were taking care of u lol

I bought an '06 Chevy Cobalt SS coupe with the 2.4 NA, with a manual transmission, for $1,000 Canadian. I thought I would hate it (Because of the stick shift and the fact it's a cheap, cheap car) but it turned out that i'd much rather sell off my Automatic Transmission K1500 Blazer (Because I've never taken that thing off road like I thought I would) and keep the manual. Driving stick is so satisfying. Plus the SS comes with a sound system that blows me away every time I put Initial D music in it.

the steering will not fail, it just gets stiff at low speeds. I just bought a used Supercharged SS, and that was one of the first things I noticed, but I thought it was just the electric steering doing it's thing....although, my ION never did this.

i just bought an 08 Cobalt LS today with only 5500 miles, i like it so far even in N/A form. it has slightly less power then my BMW 325i, but probably still faster cuz my BMW is automatic and cobalt is a 5 speed

For my first bought car, I'm planning on getting a 2007 Cobalt LT coupe. I figured it would make a nice little race car, plus I seen 9 on the road yesterday. Maybe it's a sign that I should get one?

Dont race or thrash an LT if its your only car. There just as fast as any other average car from the era. And there very reliable if treated as such. There's to many beat up LT cobalts that were trashed and slapped full of stickers and plasti dipped parts.

Paid 2100$ for mine with 160k miles. Gave it to my niece an got an impala but that cobalt is still running the same with 250k now

@WonderfulWordsofLife thanks!...ya i got a chev cobalt ss maybe a month or 2 ago by boyfriend did the shopping for me, then i kinda researched it after and found out about the recall. lesson learned to do my own shit but its been an aamazing drive so far and real good on gas. i was worried when i saw your comment but thanks for getting back i was still wondering about geting winter tires for it so its good to know :)

One thing wrong in this video is where he says all trims of the Cobalt come with an auxiliary port, this is only partially correct. 2007 and up models came with this but the older models do not have them at all and the radios aren't interchangeable without alot of work, I drive an 06.

i have never heard anyone complain about their cobalt my old one had 120 k miles on it and i had absolutly NO problembs with it...i have a friend with an si and he had to put it in the shop for transmition probs...the only thing that i have wrong with my new cobalt is...gm put in a crapy pasanger window moter in. but they changed it out in a few hours and no probs since...=]

i should have the american car bias living in detroit and all, but i still think small american cars look like all hell, which is why few outside of Michigan buy them maybe its just personal preference. i feel small japanese cars offer a more attractive finished model inside and out. however i am excited for new fiesta/focus

Cobalt. It's cheaper, easier to fix, and easier to find parts for. Celica GTs are awesome, but they're harder to come by and odds are the owners will want an overshined penny for it.

I love my cobalt its an LT Coupe 2006 however i dont like the speed my cousins they said it goes slow. IM not one of those mindless idiots that likes fast cars to race, but my university is an hour away from where i live and at times i wish it would go alot faster, what are something i can do to make my car go faster other than going 90 mph lol? all in all it gets great gas mileage but i scratched the bottom off like 2 weeks ago =( it took of some yellow paint but its not that noticeable =/

@0purple0oranges0 I got a friend that has the Turbo edition Cobalt SS. They are nice n compared to my SRT-4 Neon, theyre jus as fast. The interior is okay but some of the plastics paint tends to wear off after a while, dunno why though. But its a nice sporty car. Get it bro.

The backseat is definitely has small legroom. Not comfortable for long drives if you're in the back.

So much of this video is wrong. In 2008 the SS was turbocharged for starters and made 260hp and tq. The Supercharged SS didnt "make 30 hp more than the base cobalt" like the video said. That was the Sport version or 2.4 SS . In 2007 the SS supercharged made 60 more than the base model at 205 hp

yeah, chevy was actually smart enough to do these things, so that's why the cobalt is better. :) And actually, the 2.0 Ecotech is wayyyy better than the Japanese 4-bangers. Hand-built FTW!

lol and what do u have...a civic...lol now that is a POS if i ever seen one lol. I have a Cobalt SS with 115,000 miles on it. i run it at the track, i raised the boost to 16psi at 5,000 miles and havent changed it since. I do regular maintainance on it myself (Certified ASE master tech), and i literally have never had a problem with any part of it, including powertrain, interior and buttons. I also have a 06 impala SS with 70,000 and i had a 06 civic si...i traded it for the Cobalt lol

@teofthe1 All i say is Cobalt ss VS Competition= Cobalt wins every time. Civic cant even hold a candle. Civic when they rev sound like my riding lawn mower pushed to rabbit LAWL. I cant have that. I need an aggressive sound from my car. Thats why i bought a cobalt. Cheaper, faster, supports my country, better fuel economy, IMO it looks better, and cheaper insurance. Civic tend to be close to top of most stolen car list so insurance is a bit higher. Lawl Japanese.

wrong. the ss/tc has more torque and sounds nicer. no raspy 4 banger sound with that turbo on there.

I think the cobalt is hot compared to the newer cars coming out like the... Hyundai genesis coupe, the new mustang, ect. I wasnt impressed with the new genesis or the mustang.
