I decided to replace my alternator from the bottom as well. I'm no mechanic by no means but I did have to have my brother help me get the top long bolt out and help put it back in. Once it was loosened as much as possible it wouldn't come out so as I turned the wrench he pulled on it and we finally got it out. To put it back in I held it from the bottom while he pushed the bolt in. Again we had to wiggle it a bit to get it to go. I don't know how I possible could have held in position and put the bolt in but besides that the only other issue was squeezing it out the bottom without breaking anything. All in all it wasn't the easiest alternator I've done but also not the hardest Just glad I didn't have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it.
Top long bolt 14mm. 2 on bracket are 12mm. Then for the ground you will need a 10mm. To take off the shield on the bottom I had 2 8 mm. Digging through my tools always slows me down cause I'm never organized.
ITS EASIER TO TAKE THE BRACKET OFF AND BOLT IT ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND THEN BOLT THE BRACKET AND ALTERNATOR BACK ON TOGETHER WITH THE 2 HOLES ON THE BRACKET, BECAUSE IT DAM NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO BOLT THE BRACKET BACK TO THE ALTERNATOR, THE 1 BOLT DOESN'T WANT TO LINE UP.ITS CRAZY, YOUR ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE SOME DIFFERENT WAYS WHEN YOU'RE PUTTING IT BACK ON THAT MAKES IT SO MUCH EASIER!!! 💯
I have a 2008. Battery and brake lights came on. After googling looks like it's the alty. :-( will buy the alternator, but what will probably kick my but is figuring out how to put the belt back on
@@Usmanthemecano this is my first truck project. you mean the axel on the far left? so I got how the belt suppose to be routed but trying to get it over the pully (the small wheel you took off in the video) it's like no slack at all to force it over the hump
oh looks like I'm putting it on another way. I only removed everything in the way to get the alternator out. so everything on the right side is still on
also I've watched how to videos for the nissan titans and they say losing up the tensioner to take the belt off. so do I suppose to losing up the tensioner to put it back on? (I've screwed everything all back in place and fully tightened.)
There's a tool called the Belt Tensioner wrench,.....its a long tool that has fittings on the end to pull back the Tension Belt Wheel to easily place the belt off or on,.......its abitch to use a socket wrench so get that tool,.....!
I need to find a never-done-it-before, dont-know-all-the-parts-or-tools-names, female Friendly video!! Aughhhh!! I'm barely reading the comments & I'm ALREADY so confused?!! Tensioner?!! Pulley!!? Wtf?! *Sigh*
