Man you guys are clueless. Robert Plant has written songs with Zep and on his own with all sorts of influences seeping in and blaring out from blues to middle eastern and all sorts in between. Allison Krause is at the forefront of bluegrass and medium Robert has always admired. Makes perfect sense to me and the album is amazing. It deserved the honor.
One of the greatest singers in all of Rock & Roll in Robert Plant, along with a beautiful angel from heaven in Allison Krause! What a great combination and what a great album!
Miss Krauss won her 22nd THROUGH 26th Grammy that night. She won her 27th the next year, giving her the highest number of ANY female artist and tied with Quincy Jones for the number two spot overall. Now THAT'S recognized talent. You can just call her the GRAMMY QUEEN! At 39 years, I don't think she is finished yet.
Robert plant deserves this! Years and years of studying different music in different cultures. This isn't just ones years' work. This is a lifetime of studying his craft. ❤
Krauss and Plant are two of the very best musicians. Congratulations to them and their wonderful team very belatedly for this award; they are so deserving of it. 👍💖🎸😎
I'm a huge Radiohead fan and "In Rainbows" is probably their best album to date, but I'm glad Plant and Krauss got this one. "Raising Sand" is a beautiful album, extremely well produced and full of nostalgia.
Tf I am surprised that there are people who don't know Robert Plant was the lead vocalist in Led Zeppelin or have not heard of Led Zeppelin at all! Damm!!
I seen Zeppelin on April 25'th, 1977 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY. I never thought I would like and of his music outside of Zeppelin, because I was a huge fan, but I like Robert and Allison's music. Great job. About time for an award, lol
@@bosnake9253 that sounds more fun than the men's, lol, jk. It was a good show, I've heard some say they thought Page was off a little, but I enjoyed it.
So well deserved ! So glad they won ! A few industry noses out of joint methinks judging by the mood of the room ..... well that's how it goes - a win for true passion and dedication, by two absolute legends, who have upped their game, and created something truly new and beautiful. Congratulations. Much love. To all the nominees - congratulations too - some outstanding works there - a pity there's only one trophy, because there were so many winners - keep the dream alive guys 😊
Yeah, Hard NOT to Notice. You CouLd TeLL The~Guys from °Radiohead KNEW They "HADN'T" Won about As-Much As *(ALLISON & ROBERT) KNEW "THEY~HAD".!!!!!!!!!!!! €¥£ ^
Anderson Cooper Please don’t misunderstand me, Led Zeppelin is not only my favorite band but hands down to me the best band ever! Having said that, I would take this album (Raising Sand) with me if I knew I were going to be shipwrecked on an island and could only carry 5. It’s a masterpiece.
How so? All nominees were rock solid in their respective genres and it’s perfectly valid for the Grammys to celebrate all genres. If anything, Plant/Krause were the more “traditional” choice.
The comments are talks about how great Robert Plant and Allison Krause are with them getting an award(they are good artist)…..Though at the end I’m just going to be legit and say they shouldn’t have won compared to other albums that year but I notice every time an artist from like 30 something plus years ago comes back to make an album(nothing crazy big but yeah) the Grammys automatically gives them a Grammy. When people think of 2009 they don’t think of Robert Plant and Allison Krause just saying.
GREEN DAY!!!!!! :) It feels like FOREVER since I've seen them out and about. (even though it's been less than a year than they did the FHT mini-tour. Not that I actually got to see one of those shows... *tear*) I'm really excited that their new album is coming out!!!!! :)
@RedPhil89 Robert Plant was the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. With out Zeppeling, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple you would never have had Hard Rock or Heavy Metal. Ever genre of music sense then from Pop, to Rap has used part os Hard Rock and Metal music in there sound at some point. So for you it's Epic Fail.
Her name is Allison Krauss. Alison Krause was another woman . She was one of the 4 students being shot in Ohio, USA, by the Army while protesting against US invasion into Cambodia in 1970.
That was the least Applause I ever heard in my life for an album of of the Year winner I mean people will walk it out on this speech how insulting!!!!it was a great album I'm glad they won their really wasn't much competition that year!!!!! anyway!!!😎😎
Frederick Franchi you must have been rocking to led zeppelin back in the days and like the oldhead completely ignored any of the modern music in the present. There was definitely a competition that year
would have been mega awkward and interesting to see radiohead win it and go up there with green day since Jonny Greenwood has been talking a bunch of shit about them for over a decade. ha!
Yeah but the album was released near the end of '07, and it had already entered the '09 Grammys eligibility period. Anyway, In Rainbows should've won. But hey, Alison is a Grammy darling with her 20+ trophies, and Led Zep was long overdue to win one, so that makes the perfect formula to win AOTY.
All these zepplin fans in the comments are corny as hell. yes, they’re a great band but shitting on the other people jus to feel satisfied with your opinion is really petty and not a healthy way to live your life lmao. i personally think in rainbows by Radiohead should’ve won but it’s all good.
Zeppelin is my all time favorite but I'm not shitting in any otherss..lol just funny to see people actually say they don't know who he is or he doesn't deserve something. and btw..it's a personal opinion who should win and what was better..
Yes!!!! Robert plant is one of the greatest artists in this history!!!!! He deserved the album but no offence I have no idea who that Alison Krause is other than she is a country singer
green day isnt trendy, theyve been out for twenty years and make music themselves instead of other people doing it for them, led zeppelin is epic and amazing but greenday is great because they bring up topics that actually get played on popular radio stations for all the miley cirus bullshitters to hear
Please.....Radioshit has had ONE decent song EVER....they are...without question THE most overrated band....EVER...and I say that after spending several hours giving them a listen and a chance...now if i wanted to hang myself on a rainy saturday.....radiohead it is
I actually can't believe that out of all of the iconic albums that were nominatedl /that/ is what wins??? Radiohead's iconic album?? And Coldplay with one of their most iconic albums?? And Neyo?? And Lil Wayne???????? like anyone else could've gotten that grammy . But nooooo. And yk whatever it's in the past now right? But guess who out of all of them is actually still relevant!? Literally everyone is still relevant BUT the winners. Who is Robert Plant and A. Krausse???
Robert Plant never won anything with Led Zeppelin, I hate the Grammies. Zeppelin was the biggest act on the face of the globe in the 1970’s, and the four piece of Page, Plant, Jones, and Bonham never won any Grammy together, and were never even nominated for any of their music outside of a solitary nomination for best new artist Awarding music in this way is simply wrong, and can never be done right
Lol.calm down..it's all a matter of personal taste. Robert is an absolute legend and is still great as always. Your response tells me that you are quite immature so be gone
Radiohead should've have won 'Album of the Year' that day. Or maybe 'Viva la Vida or Death & All His Friends' by Coldplay. Still 'Raising Sand' is quite good. And now Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are back
