Recently purchased a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with 8,900 miles. Car was immaculate, so began staging for a full bolt-ons build-up that would increase HP gains, but wouldn't void the manufacturer's warranty. Parts used were American Racing long tube headers, Magnaflow exhaust, Rotofab CAI, Powerbond underdrive pulley, throttle body port & polish and East Texas Muscle Cars custom dyno tune.
A stock dyno pull was performed, producing 302RWHP. After all upgrades were complete, the final dyno pull produced 371RWHP and 387RWTQ.

The car is out of commission for the moment, but we're doing a MAJOR build on it soon. Stay close for the update vid....

@OhEightGT Yeah man, I'm totally with you! Absolutely crushed me when we weren't in a position to buy a brand new one before Pontiac was eliminated. Fortunately we found this one with 9k miles and perfectly taken care of. According to the previous owner, it was the 4th last G8 GT sold new in the US.

From Wikipedia: Underdrive pulleys usually are marketed as a performance enhancing item that increases the torque and horsepower output of an engine by reducing parasitic drag caused by belt-driven accessories, but more importantly by reducing the moment of inertia. Horsepower gains from underdrive pulleys alone are possible. Independent dyno tests have shown up to 15hp increase at the wheels after installing an underdrive pulley

AFM is still active, but the MPG has dropped by about 2 on the highway....but 24MPG on a 6.0L engine is not something to be disappointed in :)

I usually don't like the sound of Magnaflow, but this car sound awesome. I can't believe that new exhaust, ported throttle body, and cold air intake can amount to THAT much of a hp increase. Amazing.

@kentpublic Thanks man! As far as the exhaust drone, I've never noticed it. The interior volume is very tolerable at cruising speeds, both in the front and in the back. I think you would be pleased with the Magnaflow tone :)

@rackleyclan There wasn't one. That beeping you hear is a bad sensor. It was replaced before we did the "after" pull, so that's why there are TQ numbers there...

Thats really awesome your wife let you do this to her DD! That thing is freakin sweet! My buddy has a 06 GTO which these are generally the same and that thing is badass! He let me drive it once and i cant wait till i can drive it again they are so much fun! Cool build keep up the vidz!!

@DanSVT03 Thanks man! I did the research beforehand, and I couldn't get even any of my GM mechanic buddies to agree to warrantying a cam mod, so I didn't try and risk it. Not worth if for voiding 90k miles worth of remaining warranty...

Excellent video. I really like how you put it together. Also love the G8 and I was surprised by the gains of the bolt ons! I would have guessed about 40-50hp gain, but +70hp is just amazing! Good job.

@elasdeases1 That's actually where the shift points are supposed to be set for this tune. If you'll notice the dyno graph @ 5:06, the motor isn't making any power past 5800 anyway.......just shift and get it over with ;)

Thanks for posting! You've given me some food for thought. Own an '08 GT w/Borla cat-back, ported and polished throttle body. Thinking of going w/Kooks instead so I don't have to hack up my exhaust.

Now I got to get one for the wife. Our 2005 Grand Prix is getting up there on the miles. I'm going to have to find a G8 on the market, to bad that Pontiac has faded away but that wide track Grand Prix holds the corners on the twisty mountain roads with no problems and the ride is great. If I get her the G8 she is going to smoke my 315 HP V6 2011 Camaro. Very nice car and the color was nice as well.

@05front In level terrain at 60MPH it got 30.1MPG and at 80MPH it got 24MPG. Typically though, 22-26 is average highway.

im amazed at the power it made with those mild mods! wowza! i have no doubt it will run 12s. i know its the wifes so a mild stall and sum wheels would be a nice addition and help out. i cant believe 70hp gain! very nice
