This Pontiac Torrent with a 3.4 has a history of the MIL, ABS and Traction Control lights coming on. On several occasions it experienced an extended crank time, dead tach, stalling and losing power. Scan retrieved code P0336 for intermittent crank signal. These sensors get rust jacked in the block. The challenge is getting them out without breaking them.

Despite living in the North Eastern US for most of my life, I don't think I've EVER seen rust buildup on an engine block that badly...and our conditions aren't to far different that our neighbors up north. It literally looks like the block is dissolving. I'm pretty sure that looks worse than the Titanic, and that sunk in salt water 110 years ago.

That's pretty typical around here for sure. Have to watch frame rot on anything more than 10 years old here.

I wonder if you could have tried heating the sensor lightly to make it slide out easier with the plastic being soft that way something I thought of not sure if it would have made it easier.
