German correspondent Thomas Hellmanzik gets his first 911 driving experience, and promptly hits 200 on the Autobahn. Along the way he discusses the specifics of the new 991.2 GTS. Look for more new videos on Thursdays.
He drives fast, he brakes damn hard. I love this guy! One of the best reviewers out there and I'm so happy that he is from Europe! keep it up everyday driver bro!
You're awesome dude. I was watching a video the other day of some dudes in a Ferrari freaking out about going 190 and you're just a chill cucumber. I love that, you're not over playing things and you're actually using the car the way it should be used.
Dylan Alsgaard I was scared for him that some goof would pull into the left lane with no time for to react. Terrible way to meet God before one is ready to.
Porsche always underestimates their performance. Power is more like 475hp stock, and the car is relatively lightweight by today’s standards. A stage 1 tune bumps power close to 550hp, putting its performance in supercar league.
Whoa! That was absolutely top notch work! Fantastic edit, no dead spots, well shot, and Tom is an entertaining and clearly competent presenter. Bravo! More Tom please!
Hey man I like your honesty about this car....im glad that you don't pretend to be some Porsche specialist even tho you've driven them more than the average fella.
THANK YOU ! How many times I have wish that auto journalists mentioned the car's stereo or the little aspects such as the cruise control. You go over the crucial technicities and the feels while driving and you still go over the little things like these. Cheers from france Tom.
Miami blue GTS, rear seat delete, PCCB and carbon seats. Almost perfect spec. The only thing I'd change would be to spec bright coloured seatbelts. What a car.
It's always great to hear someone give insight on a car's dynamics from an informed position, at a level above the normal car show cliches. Great car, great video.
Porsche did a great job with making the engine sound less turbo charged but the difference is still quite spotty. No more insane natural breathing rawness. But probably worth it to comply with new regulations while making car faster. At least GT3 exists in natural aspiration still (and hopefully forever)
omg this video is perfect, just what we wanna see the CAR from every angle including first person fov. Just shows how beautiful the car is and even in the perspective of the driver so you can imagine how it would turn in etc.
I love this new GTS! It's my future car, for sure. I think the GTS trim is the best 'bang or buck' 911 you can buy. This is the same config I'd get too, RWD manual coupe, maybe with the glass sunroof, in agate gray. I should be able to afford one by the time i retire :(
Damn, I wish I found out about your channel earlier. This review is so good and I'm sure the rest of the videos are up to this level. Kudos to you for making such good content! Edit: That outro itself deserves a sub
I love the new GTS. It's my future car, for sure. It's the sweet spot in the 911 lineup. This is exactly the spec I'd get, RWD manual coupe, maybe with the glass sunroof. Can't wait!
Great work Thomas - YOu have a real ability to express the nuances of the driving experience. My fav reviewer, ahead of Henry Catchpole, then Harris (bit overexcited) then Harry Metcalfe
Good real world review. For me, if I bought ANY 911 I would not only expect the best balances sports car driving but also top notch build quality. Door panels rattling??? On a car that costs over $100,000 CAD/USD??? Unacceptable. Something for new buyers of 911's to consider if looking at the GTS cars. Many WILL want to listen to music and not only the engine/exhaust.
My first car was a midengined 1972 2.0 l 914, now revered by racing driver schools, later on I owned a 944, best handling transaxle you wish for and light as a feather (1120 kg). Now I am saving up for a boxster gts because I love open cars. And a nice 928 as an investment. They still are affordable right now. If I could choose just one old Porsche it would be a 911 SC Rally Special. Go check the sound. Older Porsches are more diverse than you would think, addictive and once you are fixed.... If you never owned one, buy one, no matter which one except the SUVs of course, good cars though. Now I am going to rent a new turbo 911 to make my own opinion of the new sound.
Was recently lucky enough to do a “corporate day” with an R8, Aston , Skyline , Lamborghini , Ferrari and a 911 GTS. The GTS was head and shoulders above all the others. I had no pre-conceived ideas before the day. However I was gobsmacked at the difference.
That is a dream spec GTS 911. Love Miami Blue, love the manual, love the seats, love the PDCC w/ Rear Axle Steering. Wish we could option GTS in the US with the bucket seats. Oh, and who the hell listens to rap music in a 911. Turn that shit off and drive.
