Great video, is there a part number for that relocation kit or a TSB number that can be referenced? I want to do the fuel pump fuse relocation as a preemptive measure. As you well know FBM, Mr. Murphy chooses the worst time for something to go wrong. Thanks again.
Thank you very much, spoke to my mechanic and he said the same thing. He thinks I'm not putting it all the way into park. Will keep you posted when i get out today. Thanks again 🇨🇦
THANK YOU!!! 10/6/23- sitting in a Lowe’s parking lot with 2 littles and the vehicle would not start. This video saved us BIG TIME! Hubby and I both say many thanks for this video.
Turns out my 20 amp fuse was blown, gonna replace it with a new one as soon as possible. Seriously man thanks a lot 💪🏻 💪🏻 💪🏻 Update: After replacing the fuse with a new one, my truck started right away, thanks again bro ❤
Just saved my a$$! Truck wouldn’t start while pulling a trailer full of restaurant equipment about 200 miles from home. I had stopped at harbor freight to pick up some clamps. Wouldn’t start when I came out. My brain was already thinking about the hoops I was going to need to go through to get this truck and trailer home (on a Sunday). Your video popped up first, checked the fuse and it was cooked, back in to harbor freight for an $8 box of fuses. BAM!!!! Back on the road baby. Thank you!
They have a bigger relocation kit if you Google fuse number 27 it will actually show you the kit that you need to relocate it to one of the bigger box fuses in the future
This video saved us so much time and money. Son called saying he was stranded. Looked online for videos and this one came up and sure enough was so RIGHT! $5 fuse saved us a tow and God knows how much at a shop to fix something so easy to do. Thanks so much for your time in making this video. Just got home and first thing I did was get back to the video to leave this HUGE THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!!! You saved my buddy and I today. 115 miles from home at hunting camp and his 2013 F150 won’t start. A quick search found this and minutes later all was running!!!
Hopefully Both of you subscribed to the channel.....tell him to reach out and say hi once he does to It the least he could do Thanks for letting me know
Sir, you saved me big time! You will appreciate this story. I remember this video from you posting it a few weeks back and I had a similar issue with a completely different vehicle. I have a 2020 Explorer Platinum and the high beams randomly stopped working. No codes, no fault messages, just stopped working. I knew the switch worked fine because it would turn the icon on the dash and it would also turn off the fog lights when you flipped them on. I decided to look up where it was and it said below passenger glove box. My first thought was this video and my wife using an imaginary brake pedal because of my “bad driving” (not bad driving). Anyway, I pull the carpet back and there it was “headlight control module”. I knew it was it the moment I saw it. I saw the harness was crooked, pushed it up and heard a satisfying “click”. Threw a zip tie around it to hold it together and called it a day. You saved me several weeks waiting on it at our local Ford dealerships that are backed WAY up. Thanks and keep up the good work!
You are truly one of the greatest helpful guys EVER!!! I can’t thank you enough, I know your video saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I hope everyone sees this video before taking it in for repairs. Thank you again, Joe
Had to do the fuel pump fuse relocation just last month, intermittent problem. The online tech service we subscribe to led me to the service bulletin. Doesn't set any codes, until you know what to look for, kind of tricky to diagnose unless it's a constant no start.
Love your videos! I started my Tech career back in 1983! We didn’t have instant video back then. My last Dealership was in FT Worth Tx back on 2002! Keep the videos coming as I really enjoy them as a former Tech!
Thanks sir for an awesome tutorial, mine was problem #2. Spot on and easy fix, saved the day!!! My husband and son were super impressed with my mechanic skills 😊
I have to say, this video saved me so much money. I was going to have to have my truck towed to the local shop, and I know for a fact that I would have walked out of there paying 300 or 400. Thank you so much for your knowledge and passing it on. It only cost me $4.59 for a pack of 20 amp fuses to fix the problem.
I never leave comments but for this I HAVE to. This video just saved me a tow bill plus what I’m sure would’ve been 100’s of dollars. 1 little fuse can cause such a headache. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge!
I can't thank you enough man, just needed reason number one, found that fuse almost melted, oh my Lord....I can imagine what a mechanic would say to me if I would get the truck towed to any shop! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thanks boss. 350 miles from home on the remote national seashore island. No mechanic within an hour. Truck wouldn’t turn over. Sure as shit, fuse. I owe you one. You did me a real solid with this video.
I had the Fuse 27 issue a couple years ago. Luckily I knew about it so I was back running in a couple of minutes, I had to steal the horn fuse to get running 🤣 I ordered the relocation kit and it's been good since.
Your video just saved me 1300 dallors. Truck was in drive had not started in 5 days machinic said new fuel pump ran across your video walked out to the truck and popped the hood found fuse 27 pulled it and cleaned area and put fuse back in started right up .thank u
Remember just because you replace the and it's working right now doesn't mean that's the correct way to fix it, go on Google and type in fuel pump fuse relocation kit F-150 www.ebay.com/itm/265745817899?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wImpftUJSky&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=9fe6mqyvsle&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Boy, I was hopeful on this, but Hubby went out and checked those two things on our 2014 F-150, and they weren't the problem. Thank you for posting this! I hope I can find another video with other suggestions.
I’m glad i stumbled on this video, I changed out my crank shaft position sensor and after this video I pulled the 20amp fuse and sure enough it’s shorted out
Car broke down in Detroit after a football game an hour and a half away from home. Wife googled why the truck wouldn't start and this video came up. It was the passenger side issue! Thank you for this video!!
Saved me after a long day at work, an hour drive from home, fuse was completely melted. Troubleshot the issue in less than 5 minutes because of a google search and finding this video. Thank you x1000
YES, this is the same fuel pump fuse that heated up in my 2012 F-150 work truck with 220K and the 3.7L engine would not start until I switched fuses temporary with another component, now I keep several spare fuses in the glovebox. The engine would spin over and over, but not start until I switched the fuse as I mentioned above.
Your fuel pump drive module is shorting out cause more power to be drawn through your fuse causing fuse over heating and in alot of cases melting so moving fuses around adding bigger wire is not the fix
Thank you so much! Mine was problem number 1. I just happened to be broke down at a grocery store that had fuses so it saved me a lot of time and money
All I ask is that if I helped you with something major like this subscribe to the channel pop in every once in awhile and say hi maybe I can help you with something else in the future but don't walk away and forget about me
It'd definitely be nice if you know ford would put a fuse panel ledger in the cover like every other manufacturer. Most of the time the owners manual is missing by the time their vehicles make it to our shop.
I was having issues with cranking over. After watching this I went back and sure as day was the damn fuse. Thank brotha that saved my ass from putting in the shop
Remember they have a fuse relocation kit now where you take that fuse separate the Box and put a bigger fuse body and fuse location 70 you just Google your year F-150 and type in fuse relocation kit for fuel pump it will pop up
Your video just saved my ass happened to stop at Subway. Get back in my truck and the thing wouldn’t start pop the hood and See a fried fuse. Happen to be a NAPA in the parking lot. Thank you for your video.
Bro - literally had this problem two days ago. It’s been ongoing for months, and I was pretty sure this was the issue. This comment is for everyone watching - he’s right about the interior fuse/relay harness. Mine is very touchy on my 2011 crew cab XLT
@FordBossMe dont forget about the #FuelModule above the spare tire under the bed!!!! Its on the frame rail it wont throw a check a engine light or code when it goes bad. The truck will spit and sputter and hop like its bucking when give it gas and it wont idle. Ford keeps them in stock. Check it always.
Yeah you're right but that wasn't on these model F-150s that was a little bit earlier but I only show number one and number two problem for a reason I see these more than I see anything else
I have a 2011 ecoboost 3.5 with 388.438km, what a beauti, this just happened to me, won't start until i throw her into neutral.... I'm hoping that fuse is the problem. Great video Fella👊
If it won't start until you put it in neutral then you have something wrong with the way the transmission is reading the gear that you are in and that is probably the lead frame in the transmission because that's where the range selection is and there's an extended coverage on delete frames but they're on backorder and you can get them from Napa so make sure that that lead frame isn't bad you might have to have it towed to a shop so they could check and see what codes are present in the computer because it makes me think you have a lead frame issue
Thank you. I own a 2010 Harley Davidson edition and I had this problem and I changed the 20 amp fuse which was blown. She started right up. Going to check on that relocation mod asap.
Seen some of those completely melt part of the fuse box. It melted so bad that the near by fuses were intermittently making connection. Had to replace the fuse box in that case
Yep other reason is ur fuse box mounted on top of radiator support. If truck don't start, leave key on the on position and tap fuse box,if you hear relays clicking off and on,its the fusebox.
Dodge had huge problems with those fuse boxes. We had a Dodge Nitro. Headlights just randomly turning on while parked at night, wipers just randomly going off, horn blaring, randomly not starting, and other issues. I sent the TIPM to a company in NC. They rebuilt it and that solved all issues. Apparently, moisture gets inside and causes corrosion.... This is what the company told me. They said its a very common issue. Costs 199.00 plus shipping and turn around is about a week. Comes with 1 year warranty.
On the topic of FUEL, I had this issue with my 2019 F150. All of a sudden, engine knocking.. check engine light, error code indicating running rich, could smell it from the exhaust. Took it to the dealer, and the found that my Flex Fuel was indicating over 50% alcohol, giving a rich shot through the injectors. They stated there was a TSB indicating that IF you run your tank down low, and If you only put a few gallons in, it will cause this problem. They Reset the value, instantly read 10%, and then dropped down to a much lower level (I usually run premium no alcohol). I was stunned! If I run out of gas somewhere.. and AAA puts 2 gallons it. I will get to the gas station, but it will cause this error again.. Dealer: Yes.. dont let your tank get lower than 1/2 full... ! So apparently they do some calculations to estimate the % alcohol.. and by filling this way it messes up the calculations! Is there any way to reset this calculation/sensor yourself? (remove battery? Forscan?) Thanks in advance.. love the great info (worked at Ford EEP, WAP and WEP ) thanks for all the insights.
I wish I had known of this a year ago. I had my truck shut down several times on the road because of that stupid fuel pump fuse melting and once it cooled down I would be able to start the truck again. Was really ticking me off because I couldn't figure out what the problem was.
Exactly mine did the same thing but it managed to burn 🔥 up after burning out . I'd suggest to anyone buying a used F150 to just go ahead and get the Relay Location kit installed before its an issue. Mine burnt at 158,000 miles
I'm hoping this is the issue with mine. Will be walking back in 19degree weather to check. Had a quarter tank and parked on slight slope towards engine. Won't start but ignition fires and lights are on. Added 10gal of gas and still nothing but Guage is reading 180to E on flat ground... so can't afford the fuel pump because my boss never paid me and I had no choice but to walk away lol
Really good video; straight to the point... no messin` around. Thank you! I've got a 2012 150 and it's been a good one; aside from the fact I did the moulded thingie for the trans and water pump and a few Other things. These things ought to be just about fool proof since they cost so much!
Another fuse that will prevent starting. I have a 2015 F150 Platinum with push button start. Synch system was acting up and the fix is to pull the 10 amp fuse by the passenger sidewall. However, when you pull that little 10A fuse, the car will not start. Message says key FOB not found. If that fuse blows while you’re on the road you are out of luck unless you carry a spare fuse. Needless to say, once I reinstalled the fuse, car started up again and SYNC went through a reboot so hopefully it fixed the problem. Can’t believe a little 10A fuse can take out a F150!
I’m dealing with a 2012 150 that has no power to the F75 fuse and the F35 fuse the kick panel 18 fuse has power none of the fuses from f52 to f83 has power I’m thinking the bcm is bad but not sure
Man Eye CAN t say The pleasure and Thanks To you and others .... Special Thanks to All Mechanics For diagnosis Of the broken eye beam piston pin ...... Great videos you are making sir, if I can a question. Have you seen any problems with the new gas 7.3? I heard one tech say that they were having a problem with valve springs breaking. Any truth to this that you've seen? Thank you.
Anyone have a suggestion on what the number 3 problem is???? There's about 50 videos on RU-vid talking about the number 27 fuse in the passenger side floorboard relay, in my situation neither of these is the problem. What is the third issue?
Wow thats interesting to see the fuse box out front like that!! Glad i got mines later on!!! So the terminals which the fuse connects to rots out? Or rust ? Thx AB
@@jsjizzaone3590 The fuse isn't a regular fuse, it's a low clearance fuse. So instead of making the connection on the bottom on the blade, it makes it on these little slivers on the sides of the fuse. It works, but that isn't enough meat to run 20 amps through and it ends up melting stuff from the heat. When you relocate it to fuse 70 with the kit, you get a regular cartridge fuse that works a lot better. Strip the wire, crimp it on, slide the new blade in, replace the fuse, and you're good to go!
@@MFingChuck You'd think Ford engineers would be smart enough to avoid a problem like that by now! Something like a fuel pump and heater/AC blower motor should always be on a larger sized fuse with a good bite to the connectors. No mini fuse BS. Those mega fuses should be used. The better the connection, the less resistance..the least amount of heat generated. And Idk why they would put a fuse box on the very front where it's most susceptible to getting blasted by water. That's a first for me.
Thanks for that. If my 2011 ever don’t start I’ll check those things first. Is there a kit to relocate the fuel pump fuse? Or just a bulletin and standard wiring practices?
Another problem is the starter relay stops working and the gear indicator light quits working too. I opened my relay and turn my switch on and start it from te relay
