In this weeks video we have the Skoda superb again 😊, for a long while the active DPF regeneration comes along every 140 miles and together with it a cloud of smoke, after few conversations with a dpf reconditioning company we came to a conclusion that the filter isn't doing the job anymore... The reconditioning company requires the old filter, where working together with a friend of ours luckly we were able to send a bad filter without the need of the car being of the road an only replacing the filter when we had one already... I'll take through the process of removing the filter, differential pressure sensor reset, DPF soot content reset and static forced regeneration... cheers 👍👍👍
A genuine reconditioned dpf costs £522 and if you send your one like we did it costs £250 and the company is dpfcleanteam.c... 👍👍👍
by the way I have no affiliation with them or sponsored, they were recommended to the owner of the vehicle and I just did the replacement and reset cheers

This is really close to my VW MK6 Golf, and I gotta say thank you so much for putting this video up. I needed to replace my DPF and this video is one of only TWO that I could find that were relevant. This one is great because I also don't have any fancy tools or a lift, and while doing it on the ground is a real PITA, it was much easier after seeing how you did it. I tried really hard to avoid dropping the subframe, but I've concluded it's totally worth it and the only way you're going to get the DPF out (and back) in one piece -- and you don't need to take out the drive axle, even though the workshop manual says you do. Thanks for the video!

Just in the midst of doing this on my 2012 VRS. Dont see anyway the exhaust is coming out without the driveshaft being removed as it's too thick to squeeze past

good job. for those with 4x4 models,just lower the subframe,no need to remove the kardan shaft. I did the same on mine,only i deleted the dpf 😁

@@CarsExposed When you undone your subframe, Did you replace the bolts? because they stretch bolts!!! If you’re experiencing movement in the front of the engine whilst driving “like engines jumping forward/Squeaking when going over bumps. you will need to replace the bolts + You will need to Torque them. I’m Studying mechanics in college. Hopefully I will work for BMW or Audi one day 😀

Done many 3t dpf removal. Couple tips. Get engine hot and remove all exhaust sensors as aids removal of dpf later. Replace centre exhaust bracket as nearly always rotten. You don’t need to remove steering rack just lower subframe 1/2 inch is sufficient. Centre exhaust tunnel heat shield give a bit of massage to where dpf is and dpf will rotate out of hole. While in there get a dark side developments egr cooler pipe and remove egr cooler and get mapped out or if cheap skate get egr delete box. Whole job should take approx 3-4hrs. If dpf is not cleanable cut hole in engine side of dpf and remove as only mot failure if they can see been tampered. Due to vw brands not able to rev up when doing mot cannot do smoke test and you still have cat in so unless engine worn out should be good.

hi.i just removed one today out of a 2009 octavia 1.6 tdi. i had to drop the driveshaft and remove the stabiliser it just cleared the steering rack when i removed the angle bracket. i did not need to touch the crossmember,

A H it does ... while regeneration the EGR and throttle body/air inlet is commanded by the ECU to almost closed position... also deleting the EGR increases the amount of soot accumulation in the DPF damaging it ..👍

Dpf deletes allow particulates and NOX into the atmosphere . This is not good for lungs, especially little lungs but if it passes the MOT inspection who cares that life expectancy of our children is now less than their parents......

Mine has almost 300K on it, it used to emit alot of smoke/dust during renegeration. I've managed to get rid off the problem during regeneration by spraying 1 can of Wurth PDF cleaner inside the filter and then went for a forced regeneration while driving, on a highway. Now the regeneration runs nicely and almost no smoke. I think a bit of smoke starts to appear after I interrupt the first 2-3 regen attempts because I have to stop ( short town trips ).

It can be done by undoing driveshaft on gearbox side and turn the dpf clockwise slide back out done mine yesterday

dpf filter can be cleaned ONLY WITH HEAT!!! In an oven. Chimical cleaning will destroit it. V6 300k km ...regenerations about 250km. After cleaning 1300Km between regenerations..You judge for yourself! It doenst matter how bad the filter is!

How's she goin'? That was an involved and difficult job to get the DPF out. I bet putting it back was no picnic either... The regen for the DPF took a long time, but you knew you were on the right track because of the absence of smoke out the tailpipe. Nice repair !!!

U don't need to remove the Subframe mate . U need to just remove heat shield from the top and bottom and will easily come out

I had this exact issue on an AUDI TT TDI, very similar 2.0 CR engine. Fixed witha £10 can of Mannol DPF cleaner sprayed in through the temperature sensor hole you show at 1:52. Mine was beyond the limit for forced regenartion and car was in limp mode. 10mins to spray it in, stand for 10 mins or so at idle with occasional revving then take for drive until values showing below threshold. Force regen while driving and all is good. The TT has quattro 4wd so no way I was getting that DPF out myself!

dopiaza2006 Result mate I can only imagine it would be a lot more difficult with a 4wd vehicle 👍 The owner of the car already tried that sort of product and also a company terra clean or something similar and no results the inside of the dpf ceramic honeycombe was actually knackered 👍

@@CarsExposed Yeah, it was kind of a last resort before removal - I couldn't believe how well it worked. Back pressure at idle was well over 100mbar and after the spray can it dropped to 50-60 immediately and after a drive/forced regen down to 10-20mbar. Who knows if it's a long term fix but the DPF is regenning automatically now and soot levels staying low. Fingers crossed! You should mention engine type (CFFB, CFGB?), transmission type (DSG or manual? 4motion?) and make year in the description (maybe in the title as well). It would help others but also good for Google searches. As you know, the same engines are used across a wide range of brands and models, like Audi A3/A4/A6, VW Golf/Passat, Skoda Octavia/Superb, Seat Leon etc etc

Subframe bolts are to be replaced if removed as they are stretch bolts and are prone to snapping if reused

Hi great video! Would a DPF blocked cause engine to smoke from that v-clamp area between the DPF / Turbo. Also back end on idle? Also shaking engine and no power whats so ever almost like misfire. My car has an issue same engine CFFB Any help would be great thank you

Does car overheat if dpf is clogged I had dpf light on 1.6 tdi vw Passat did overheat as soon dpf light disappeared car gone back to normal temperature.

Hi Igor enjoyed this video. Cat believe didn’t hear any swearing! Must have been busy editing lol. Am I right in saying that even if the DPF filter does its job, at some point it will need cleaning or even replacing? Eg it’s just a matter of time before it will cost you money even if you drive motorway regular etc. Thanks

Thanks mate I was busy in the editing 🤣🤣🤣👍... the DPF supposed to regenerate itself on long runs on motorway or when pressure in the dpf is high enough raising temperatures and burning off soot but you are right they seem to kick the bucket or give you issues around the 200k Miles 👍👍👍

Thanks for that I’ve got a 2014 Mk3 Vrs estate done 80k so should be good for a while yet. On a Separate issue “changing timing belt” I’ve heard mixed views. Skoda say every 5yrs or 100k whichever comes first. Also read from online manual that unless live in a dust rich country (UK isn’t obviously) then it’s good until 240,000km or 140000 miles. Can you comment please many thanks

Hi top vid. After dpf replacement, do i need to reset pressure sensor and let ecu know dpf replaced, then do regeneration. Or do i do regeneration first and then reset pressure sensor and let ecu know dpf is replaced?

It’s recommended to run a regen when replacing the dpf ... you will have option on vcds for sure 👍

Hi there, I have engine management light on 2017 Octavia, just had a new Turbo fitted and being told DPF is knackered as I have replaced the NOX sensor, but still light comes on.. Going by your video would you think that my car needs remapped first as this might solve my problem before replacing DPF (Engine had to come out to replace Turbo and would guess also DPF)

John Reilly is the engine management light related to DPF? No need to remove engine to replace turbo or DPF as you can see in the video 👍👍👍

Cars Exposed the management light is saying that the NOX sensor is picking up .5 gas, it has been reset many times but keeps coming on so the Nox sensor was changed costing £400, but as you can guess light came back on. No being told that the DPF must be gone as other thing is Turbo and that’s been renewed. Garage did say to me that the engine had to come out for Turbo replacement and now to replace DPF. Says it’s because of the new singing in my 17 plate Octavia

Konstantinos software is Delphi DS150 Microsoft based I purchased from EBay the tablet with the VCI and software already installed was around £250 about 2 years ago 👍

@@CarsExposed good tip on leaving the 13mm mounting bolts loose before you tighten the clamp on the turbo flange, I tightened them up first and only realised when I smelt the fumes inside the car.
