49ers were Super Bowl contenders? Kaepernick stood for the National Anthem? Aaron Hernandez was still playing for the Patriots? Man, a lot can change in just a few years...
had the day off from work this day and slammed so much beer and smoked a couple blunts that I passed out during this game... the game I was waiting all day to watch! LMAO GO NINERS!
+Celestial Scripture Well with the clock ticking, running it wouldvr done them no good.. and there was really great coverage + a no call hold. But oh well. It wasn't meant to be.
That's one way to look at it. But it seems to me to be a better move to run it with the best rushing attack in football as opposed to a mediocre at best passing game versus the best secondary in a generation. Dumb move, I say.
Jim Harbaugh's 9ers were so damn good. I missed the 2012 49ers. They had everything that you would want in a team for a chance to compete for a superbowl. Thanks to the clown Jed York, this 49ers team operated by Harbaugh was short lived.
Man when I look back on this game, it's one of the best games during the regular season. It also ended up being a great game. The Harbaugh-Kaepernick lead 49ers at their peak traveling to the east coast to play against Belichick and Brady's Patriots who are always a top team. A potential super bowl preview matchup that season. Two teams with big fanbases. Game being played on Sunday night football with the best commentators. This game delivered big time.
This was the game where I realized to never turn off the TV even when the Pats are down big. Even though New England lost this game it was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen when they tied this game up. This is why I still thought NE had a chance in the Super Bowl against the Falcons.
Same here. Classic comeback with Brady taking over the game in the fourth quarter, even if they didn't finish the deal. And just because of shitty kick-off coverage.
As a 49er fan this game is in my top five of my favorite games.... I went through a roller coaster of emotions watching this game and I really thought at the end they were going to lose but I'm glad that they held off New England and won the game.. this game took place in December and for a couple years New England was undefeated in December so it was the first time in a long time but the Patriots lost a home game in December... Now the 49ers of 2012 made the super bowl and I think one of the main reasons was Randy Moss... Now when the 49ers signed them he was past his prime and they wanted to use them in the red zone now if you look at his numbers that year he only caught three touchdown passes... But ready and Moss didn't have to touch the ball to make a difference because he was a great decoy... The defenses always focus where Randy Moss is at and it took off pressure off of Michael Crabtree who had his best year in 2012 and I'm talking about like numbers were he probably was the best receiver that year.... I really wanted the 49ers the win last super bowl because nobody deserved it more than Randy Moss and Frank Gore as well as Alex Smith and Vernon Davis because besides Randy Moss... They spent a lot of years losing before Jim harbaugh came and times they got blown out so when Jim harbaugh came and changed everything and saved Alex Smith's career which he's one of my favorite quarterbacks of all time because of his story .. I wanted their hard work to pay off... But the Baltimore Ravens played a great game and I congratulated for waiting at super bowl tore me up inside as a 49er fan
Thank you for this. I remember the original television broadcast being pushed aside for the Presidential address and missing a huge portion of the game.
It kills me that the 49ers of 2011, 2012, and 2013 failed to win a single Super Bowl championship. This particular team had nine pro bowlers (three on offense, six on defense), and if not for poor clock management, bad playcalling in the redzone in very key situations, and a pair of boneheaded kick returns, they would have likely managed to win three in a row. Not only did the window close right after that, it slammed shut and then the whole house caught on fire. Just painful to see as a fan.
2011 championship game missed fumble call bowman forced Bradshaw to fumble, 2012 Superbowl lot of BS 2013 championship game rigged stopped play clock for Seattle
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 lol what part of “would have likely” is difficult to comprehend? It’s a hypothetical situation. The team was in position 3 years in a row.
Yes I was so scared that night me and my brother had beer wings and watching our 9ners take on your pats and we got up so far but we never counted Brady out not one time I told my brother we not safe until the clock ticks to zero we knew Brady was gone slice our secondary up
Willis and Bowman - greatest LB duo ever? Each one better than the other. And when one doesn't quite wrap up, the other is right there to finish up. Not only great tacklers, but fast. Didn't usually need help on pass protection. They owned the center of the field. Freed up the secondary to blanket the deep threat.
@@rhmayer1 Don't forget Ahmad Brooks. While Bowman was my favorite of the bunch (despite not being a fan of 49ers especially during Harbaugh era) Brooks was good too. They also had Michael Wilhoite, who couldn't get into games often due to this trio, but worked himself onto special teams and I think was a big difference maker in them being more consistent in that aspect. Aldon Smith too, but I don't think anyone confused him for A LB regardless of what the depth chart said. Clark Haggans was a starter at one point for the superbowl XL Steelers, you could've lost Aldon or an outside backer and still had a legitimate pass rusher at that position. The depth looking back on it was rediculous. Honestly, that front 7 covered up the back end, kept opposing offenses in front of them and beat them up. The offense did the same thing with Gore as its centerpiece behind that physical offensive line. You got tired playing this team, as you did Seattle. The idea those 2 were together in that division... im still shocked we only got a couple legitimate years out of that rivalry. Thought it was going to be the 2nd coming of the Steelers and Ravens with the hate boiling underneath. What a wild era.
just looking at this team basically throttling the New England Patriots, its unimaginable that Jed York would run Harbaugh out of town ... just inconceivable ...and the Niners fell so far the MINUTE Harbaugh left the team.
SuperOmnicron ,Three unexpected retirements and three players let go because of off the field issues but morons like yourself think it’s all about the overrated Jim Harbaugh leaving.
In the 9 season championship drought, the Patriots really did have some very good offenses. 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012. Each of those offenses scored over 500 points in the regular season and averaged 30 or more points per game. But the offenses all came up very small in the playoffs. Especially in the two SB losses to the Giants.
Oddly enough - NFC teams have had more success in Foxboro over the past decade. SF in this game, Arizona, the Giants, Philadelphia, Seattle and Carolina have all won there while only 2 or 3 AFC teams have in that span.
gogetta80 what about chiefs in the home opener of 2017. Pats got 2 big fucking breaks in 2017 against Houston and especially against Steelers that's why they got home field advantage in the playoffs cause Steelers got robbed by the refs with that so called no td catch. Karma justice was pats losing the superbowl against a backup qb in foles scoring all those points on the pats defense and strip sack fumble on Brady which no gay fucking tuck rule to save Brady. Also pats fans in New england be crying saying how the NFL doesn't like them and saying they hate us cause they ain't us b.s. moniker it isint that it's caught cheating 2 or 3 times and Brady and the pats always bailed out by the refs when they're gonna lose a game. That's why most nfl fans hate the pats and there fans and when Brady retires all the non new England pats fans will jump off the pats bandwagon shop cause pats will be mediocre or below and suck without Brady and that's a fact.
Brady was really moving his legs and jumping around and firing the ball out of his hand in that second half like I've never seen him before, he was on fire in that second half.
I been a 49ers all my life and even though that the 49ers 2011 season is one of my favorite season. this game was awesome, as a 49er fan, this game had a a lot of motions, and I give a lot of credit to the New England Patriots....it just that this happen in the 2012 season and it was in December...and Patriots always play well in December, if I can memory correctly. it was something that Pats never lost a game at home in December for a long time. and beating the Pats at there home in December, that shows you how 49ers were like when Jim Harbaugh was head coach, this game reminds when the 49ers lost in the super bowl,
Bart, I was at this game. Thanks for putting this on. Any chance you could also put the 12/28/1998 49ers @ Pats game on as well? I was at that game as well.
This game was the turning point in the 49ers run to the Super Bowl that year. Just Smith got hurt in this game, and as a result, the defense was never the same afterwards. The secondary got exposed in the playoffs. While I liked Alex Smith, without Kaepernick, the 49ers offense would not have been as dynamic. But the Super Bowl was another story. Alex Smith would have won them the Super Bowl.
Kap also beat Matt Ryan in Atlanta when Ryan was the league leading QB, and beat Aaron Rogers in the Divisional Playoff (9ers first playoff in 9 years). And Kap beat Rogers again for the 2nd time at the follow-up 2013 season opener, which was supposed to be the Packer's revenge game. (All 3 games here on YT - all great ones, highly recommended.)
@@BasePuma4007 I was referring to the 2012 Season. Oh, I see the point of confusion. Whoops, Kap didn't beat Drew Brees in the Div Playoff, but rather Aaron Rogers. (Now corrected.)
Any chance at all you've got 2005's Seahawks Monday Night Massacre of the Eagles? louis noverati uploaded it earlier this week but it was flagged within an hour or two, and I've long wanted to see that game again.
I hate to trouble you further, but I've just thought of a few others! These are long shots, but since you seem to specialize in playoffs when it comes to older years, I thought I may as well ask, just in case. No hurry of any kind, of course. The ones I'm looking for are: -2001 Wildcard Ravens-Dolphins -2001 Wildcard 49ers-Packers -2001 Divisional Ravens-Steelers -2002 Wildcard Colts-Jets
as a 49er fan, I was very happy that randy Moss got sign by the 49ers...if you look at stats....Randy Moss only caught 3 touchdowns that season, bt he made such a difference, a lot of teams double randy moss even after his prime, and it help Michael Crabtree get open,....his stats in 2012 season, were like hall of fame numbers...I never understand why he wasn't offer to play in pro bowl.
I was excited to watch this video until I realized there were 29 ad breaks! Thanks but no thanks. If I wanted to be bombarded with corporate ads, I'd just turn on my television!
It’s a shame how there has never been a San Francisco/Bay Area vs Boston title matchup in any pro sport ever! 49ers vs Patriots SF Giants vs Red Sox Warriors vs Celtics Sharks vs Bruins
yeah..they just can't maintain a 4 touchdown lead, they're really up there with the orange crush, purple people eaters, doomsday defense and the steel curtain. you read my mind
benny robinson they kinda got overshadowed by the LOB the next year but this defense without a doubt was one of the most dominant defenses during 2011 and 2012
The only reason the Pat’s got back in the game is because the 9ers was scoring to quickly and defense never had time to rest and they got tired because they stayed on the field longer than anybody, but we still got the W tho. LETS GO 9ERS 2023
what i remember about this game was the TD pass to Moss. to say Kap isn't a starting Q today is an erroneous perception. especially with Brian freakin hoyer still in the league.
Since becoming a Niners fan in 2010 roughly (I'm 20 now) it's been a really strange ride. 2 SB loses, faithful then and faithful now, its gonna be sweet when we finally get the 6th
