Thank you for the video. I did want to mention that anyone proceeding with this may wish to check their own socket sizes before going too far into the job. The oil pan plug on my 2012 (eco) is a 17mm. There is also a washer that you may or may not wish to replace during an oil change to achieve a better seal each time. Four quarts should take it to the mid-line on the dipstick, and 4.25 takes it to the top.
My daughter took hers to an oil change shop and they told her they didn’t have the “special tool” for a chevy cruse and they couldn’t do it. So she brought it to me. Apparently the “special tool “ is a socket wrench. Seems like pretty standard kit for a place like that.
I am doing my 12 Cruz eco manual myself. I found out that, to unscrew the drain plug, I even do not need to raise the car, stretch my arm and plus the length of the wrench, I can reach the drain plug from front side of the passenger side. The rest is the same as those steps in this video.
Before i invested in the lift, I used to drive the car, two wheels up on a curb to get under it to change the oil. It worked well but these days with all the distracted drivers I do not recommend it unless you can find a safe spot with zero traffic
I’ve watched 3 of these videos from different you tubers and each have a different size for the oil bolt. 😡 one video says 10mm one says 13 and one says T40 torx
using a 24mm six sided impact socket with a 12 inch extension driven by a ratchet wrench. Oil filter housing is plastic and fragile, rubber O-ring is the seal and very little force is used
