hey feller thanks for putting this together. i was able to replace my manifold without issues honestly it took me about 6 days to do the entire job. was only able to chip away at it only few hours a day. the hardest part for me was removing the broken stud in the head i ended up having to melt a nut on to it to back it out. i replaced all the gaskets minus the coolant fittings just cleaned em out real good. i will say for anyone doubting they can do this. i never done anything like this only basic things like brakes and oil changes. if i can do it you can do it 100% just take your time. the most handy tools i used for this was a breaker bar for removing most of the rusted bolts and a angled pick for for the coolant fittings 100% need those lol

Thank you for watching!! It means the world to me that it was able to help you out! It took me 2 days, I started on a Saturday and could have finished. But ford accidently sold me the wrong side turbo gasket. Thank you again for watching!

@@victortinney3924 it's not the first Ford to make it over 400k in my family. I did buy it new. Nothing too crazy besides full synthetic oil changed every 8000 miles. I know of someone who has theirs just over 500k now... I'm a bit jealous 🤣

@@SmashingPunkFan Thank you! I found a 2014 F150 3.5 liter Ecoboost with only 18000 miles on it about two years ago! I got it from a reputable Ford Dealer with verified carvfax. I only have 35000 in it now so I was just interested to know how these engines last! Im taking good care of it as I’ve already changed coolant and transmission fluid and transfer case and front and rear differential fluid. I just changed the plugs. I only use full synthetic oil too so you give me hope that mine will last a long time too! Thanks for the info and the video!

I’m going to start this process this coming weekend. Mine isn’t leaking but the flapper in mine is worn and loose causing it to clap every time the engine is cold. And when the turbo is spoiling you can really hear it like a loud buzzing. So I’m putting a rebuilt OEM in, but would you suggest anything else while I’ve got it torn apart?
@SmashingPunkFan
@SmashingPunkFan 2 года назад
Hey Jordan. If you can source the parts, I would suggest the exhaust manifold and studs. I had 2-3 broken ones on the driver's side. Im pretty sure when the studs break, it causes the manifold to warp. I hope it goes well! Remember to have patience with it lol

I have the same driver side fitting leaking terribly and just removed wheel and fender well. I hoped to.replace the fittings without removing the turbo. Were you able to get the back side turbo fitting undone before removing the turbo? It looks doable but not easy.
@SmashingPunkFan
@SmashingPunkFan Год назад
I wasn't able to get it to budge. The coolant line is very ridgid and fixed in place. Plus, you can inspect the turbo once removed
@ctfortner
@ctfortner Год назад
@@SmashingPunkFan It wasn't fun, but I got the line out, turbo still in place. The other end of the line goes into the side of the block and has a bracket that is bolted to the block. WIth the fender well out I could access that bolt and remove it. then I gently wiggled and pry on the line to get it loose and it is out. I have removed both fittings. My turbo line had a hole in it! Right below the flare. No wonder it was pouring coolant out so easily. Now I have to reinstall the fittings and new line, fingers crossed.

Dang, good job! I'm glad it can be done. Definitely could save time. A hole in the line?! That is crazy. Should be leaky free now 👍👏

@@SmashingPunkFan We shall see lol...I think getting a line out is easier than getting it in when its a fixed hard line like these. Yea it's crazy, the hole is large enough to stick a small screwdriver inside. I was going to reuse the line, glad I checked it good. Going to give it a go tonight!

Does this exhaust manifold cause slow acceleration and poor gas mileage ?
@SmashingPunkFan
@SmashingPunkFan Год назад
OEM should work best for any Ford vehicle. I used OEM motorcraft exhaust manifold for mine, and it runs great. I've heard slow acceleration and poor gas mileage could be spark plugs or coil packs. I replaced mine, and it made a WORLD of difference.

There was just enough stud showing to grab on. Oddly enough, not seized inside the head 😂

So far so good. It's had the valve covers leak, but that's about it so far. I replaced both sides (valve covers) last year. No other leaks besides the turbos and the fittings for them

@@fordguy1115 hmm... You could rock it out a little longer to save $$. But, absolutely change your exhaust studs while in there. That'll help you determine how good/bad that manifold is within 30/60 days I would say 👍

What is the exhaust manifold by the turbo for?
@SmashingPunkFan

I'm not sure I understand. It's the manifold off the engine head. Feeds the turbo on it's way through to the catalytic converter, muffler, exit?
