2012 Honda CR-V EX-L Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, & Test Drive 

Spot-on review the 4th generation CR V is summed up perfectly by this review. Easy to live with, comfortable, spacious, adequate power... few hi tech innovations... exactly what our family needs. We have been driving rhe 2.4 5-speed auto for several months now and we love it.

Honda crv. The best, this is my sixth one, once you own crv its always crv.

The CR-V's dash and door panels are hard touch and regrettably so, however some vehicles will have more solid feeling hard plastics. The CR-V is just one of them, we actually never quite knocked on the previous Rav4's interior, aside from some cheaper looking switch-gear, we found the interior to be the norm in the class for its time. Even though the Rogue had soft-touch materials, we weren't too impressed with the overall quality which still felt lacking.

I was lucky enuf to find a Honda Certified 2012 CRV with just 38K miles. Bought it in 2019. Loving it. (Had my mechanic look it over before I bought it).

Soft touch materials are hard to keep looking good. IMO there is a sweet spot not too luxurious not too spartan. Love the Honda CR-V

i just took a 12 trip in my aunts 2010 crv exl and i was pushing it 80-85 in the fast lane and it diddnt want to get up and go i had to really get on it i did have the ac on though

this car looks way nicer with some genuine Honda accessories... i installed a front skid plate to my 2013 black Ex.. ....rear , tow package with the Honda H cap...also added the Honda chrome tailpipe...interior... i added the rear rubber cargo CRV floor mat....also the Honda factory rear inside organizer... really makes this car look way nicer... my opinion...

Down a gear? How would Honda change the ratios? Like Toyota's or Mazda's six speed with no difference between 5th and 6th, and too close of a 2nd to 3rd? Or like Ford's or Hyundai's six speed that practically have two first gears because they are so unnecessarily close? I'm telling you, and everyone that these five speed automatics are perfect.

Does anybody have any complaints about the size of the bucket seats? Im 6'2 and a lengthy guy and find myself a bit cramped in my Saturn Vue. Anyone have any thoughts?

Why didn't you mention how the gauges are from the Accord which are from the CR-V? Also it is offered with a Manual across the pond (which does not good for the video or us, I know). Also, 2013 Silver Honda Accord Sport @ 7:42.

Why does it matter whether or not the upgraded CRV has Smart Entry? Push Button Start is a feature that does not affect car performance.

Get the turbo1. 5L and put ir in sport mode and you'll hit 0-60 in7. 3 id say thatis pretty sporty!

1:08 how big to wheels need to be? 18 used to be huge but now were up to like 22s. I like paying less for tires.

If you don't drive it on the highway at 75 mph, don't talk about road noise. Easy like that. A good review in general.

BTW it's called small overlap. Not frontal offset.

Camry has a much higher fleet percentage than the Accord. Accord is the retail sales leader... Not trying to continue the argument, it's just something to consider IMO.

I took one look at the cargo of the Tiguan and then realized that you could maybe fit 4 grocery bags in it and took a pass. Also the fact that VW can't get their electrical systems in check. I can't count how many newer model VW's I see with one taillight or headlight out.

Honda CRVs have always had "hard plastics" ... every generation has used it... nothing new there... i guess you knew that...

As much as I like how upscale the CR-V has become I have to say I am just in love with the Tigaun that my girlfriend's mom just bought....go ahead call me a German car snob.

The escape was the sales leader last year only because of the earthquake/tsunami that caused problems for Honda parts.

You fail to mention the new RAV4 having soft touch materials on the dash. It's much nicer than the CRV.

Some of the things you mentioned that aren't available on the CR-V are available in other markets. Better if you mentioned them as well. Anyway, better if we could actually see the road instead of just yourself. Great videos! :)

You'll never see a Honda with a 4 cylinder and 6AT. The CR-V gets DI and a CVT next year or 2015. Honda already released all the information on their new earthdreams engines and transmissions and a 6AT for a 4 cylinder wasn't one of them. I don't mind because the CVT is a great gearbox.

Arr you sure the crv doesn't have a power tailgate? In top trims it isneven foot-activated.

Actually when I had a rental Camry when I was having my tailgate repaired (That was my fault lol) I thought of that.It's weird because you would think that they would choose the cheaper one out of the two but the accord starts at $21,680 and the Camry at $22,235. Seems like they would choose the cheaper one.

Its a budget car. No other car can beat the CRV in space and versatility. Which are more important for a family. But the sound system and navigation is horrible. Very reliable daily driver. Underpowered but the gearing and torque is just right to provide you enough acceleration in the city but on the freeway not a lot of power in higher gears for passing. Great road trip car due to massive space both upfront and in the back. Fold flat rear seats are amazing. I can afford a lot better (Lexus, Acura, Infinity, Cadillac, Merc) but no other car in the same class is as spacious as the CRV. As a reference I once fit 6x8Ft foldable tables and 42 foldable chairs in it for my kids party!

Why 2012 and not 2013?

I also want to say, we drive the hell out of our CR-V. Not a lot of power but it moves out of its way easily when you drive it hard.

having two 3rd gen cr-v's in my family, and owning a 2006 SE which we still have, CRV'S are great cars. easy to drive live with, nice features and overall just a nice car. i just hope when honda refreshes it they add a 6AT and direct injection from the accord. IMO the koreans attempt at this class is slow ugly crap, the ford escape is a timebomb and the rav-4 doesnt even offer real freaking leather. i like the tiguan because its fast but cargo room on that is below too especially for the price.

Top trim model? And no navigation...???

One thing I do not like about Honda's is that you have to pay extra to get navigation and stuff like that the price that they're selling their vehicles for navigation should come standard instead of being add on!
