A little hard to watch with the rambling dialog, but I appreciate the video. The same thing is happening with my daughter's 2013 Sonata. I told her it was probably the starter. Your video helped because it's the exact same symptoms. In future videos, maybe try writing down some notes to follow so it's easier to convey what you're trying to say to the viewers.
I dont know about that. I have a good battery and a brand new starter in the car but the car is still a no crank no start. I am able to start the car every time by using a wire to touch [under start fuse 1] pins 30 and 87 together. What that does is bypass the ignition (key) side of the system and delivers voltage to the starter directly. I think my issue is from within the ignition switch. I say that because the hyundai sonata has a frequently reported issue with this. But let me know what you think. I just want to fix my car hah
If anyone has the same problem as I am, Check your negative battery terminal. Since my above comment, I replaced the ignition switch (easy replacement) but still couldnt start my car without jumping it from the relay box. But I have since discovered that the connection on my negative terminal is not perfect. For some reason, it wasnt making a good connection but after disconnecting it, cleaning the connection, and tightening it Down onto the battery as well as I can, I am no longer having starting issues. I will try to buy a terminal connector soon.
I currently have the same issue March 17 2021....I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4 cylinder....car doesn’t crank. Absolutely no noise from underneath the hood. All lights and electronics work inside the car but no crank. Yes I bought a new battery thinking it was the battery but NOPE same issue. Long story short I took it to Hyundai to get it checked out and sure as shit, my starter went out PLUS 3 RECALL ISSUES!!! Computer system needed an update, shifter knob and both front seat belt pretensioners are recalled. Hyundai isn’t charging me for the three recalled parts, the only thing Hyundai is charging me for is to replace the starter. Despite the three recalls, the main problem for my car not to crank, making my car seem like the battery died on me was the starter.
I changed my starter 3 times just to find out that it was a $20 problem which the signal wire to the starter was loose and needed to tightened. Haven't went bad since.
Did you fix it... It's the starter... I'm currently working on replacing mine again. This is the 2 or 3 time again. Is it the 2.0l T or 2.4l I'm sure you are not in the US because the gauges on the dash is different or I can be wrong
I have same problem every couple days. I just try wait a minute then try a couple more times then it starts fine. Battery is good, alternator good. So how did you fix it?
Hello fellow Hyundai Sonata owners. I bought a 2011 LE, 4 cylinder, automatic, push button ignition. It only has 37,000 miles on it and the previous owner bought it new. She sold it to me because her two mechanics could not get it to function for her. It would sit for a few days and would not start. They replaced the battery and alternator. That didn't fix it. Right now it will not start or do anything at all, so it actually got worse. The battery is new and checked good (confirmed with part store check and deep charge). The main fuses I can see all look good. Nothing comes on. No exterior or indoor lights. No dash lights or gauges...nothing. Except, the push ignition button will lightly illuminate when I push it. Both key fobs will show a small red light when anything is pushed on them, but nothing happens. The trunk won't open, the alarm won't turn on, no door locks, nothing at all works. It does the same thing when attempting to jump start with 3 different vehicles. It did start occasionally for her with jumper cables and battery charge, but now it is entirely dead and nothing gives it power to crank or start, or any accessories or gauges. It's behaving like it has NO battery at all. I have not connected a code reader to it, yet. Questions: 1. Anyone have this occur? What fixed it? 2. Is there a way to test the key fobs to be sure at least one is working? 3. I know how to get the car in Neutral to push it around, but is there a way to get the steering wheel to turn? I hate push button crank cars! Thank you!
@peterl6095 battery terms are good. I'll check all the fuses. And check the end of the ground and positive cables to be sure they lead to wherever they go. Thanks!
It’s a transmission issue if it doesn’t completely start at all then that’s the issue this happen to me I had a new alternator and engine but this happened it wouldn’t start when I got a jump it’s a transmission issue my guy ! Did u get it fixed ?
Been having this issue to as well but all I can figure out is that it’s the theft security ,been told Elantra’s had this issue for years (don’t know how true this information is just thought it might help)
It’s the second battery in the trunk that’s dead. Not the starter. Some of those cars have 2 batteries and if Indy second one is drawing too much. Power the car won’t start
Your car has two batteries. The main and the one in the trunk. If you don’t know about it you would think it’s the starter but the issue here is that the second battery in the trunk is dead and is drawin too much power for the main one to start the car
I have a 11th grade education fortunately I worked my ass off through the years and making 150k a year but I am actually dumber now after watch this video. I'm from the south .... but lived in New Jersey for 10 years and understand how the yankee mind works and thinks...But this goes beyond I learned nothing wasted 20 minutes of valuable time hoping that you would have some good information. I'm a positive person so take no offense to this comment as you clearly said "please leave a comment" it was actually funny not informative just funny. Was that a after market alternator?? Have a great day friend and just smile not rudeness here just my 1st amendment right per your request. Peace.
