I just bought a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The 13 has some updates from the 12 that make it even better. I drove the Camry and the Sonata. The Sonata I felt was better and for a few reasons the Sonata IMO is better looking it is also more roomy and with 2 kids that's a big deal. The tech is also better. I like the interior lay out better in the Sonata as well. So for me I got all of that with a better and longer warranty and at a better price. So for me it was a win all around.

Joshua Wirht its true, the 13+ has a 35kw electric motor instead of just 30kw and the gas motor is stronger too. It also has a more energy dense battery so it gets better milage

I have the Hyundai and tested both thoroughly before buying. The Totota felt cheap inside. The seats were hard and the dash is a mess. The CVT sucks. You just want it to shift already. The Sonata was roomier inside and I felt the materials were a better grade than the Toyota. It also drives very nice. I have no issues at stoplights or getting on the freeway. It has plenty of power. I think the Toyota Camry is the WalMart of cars. It is vanilla. Get the Sonata!

The 2010 camry xle that i got drives really smooth and you can barely hear the engine. Some people like to hear the engines roaring but I prefer to keep the engine sound low and the music up!

To be honest hyondai had poor reliability and designe flaws in the past. But they have stepped up there game makeing the quality better then the past and be nice to see them grow and be better... just like the koreans technology.. And now talking about toyota the past quality was one the best.. but ever sens the Prius incident i started to dislike them because they took there prestigious time to recall... my respect for the company droped from that... all though i would buy an old toyota any day especially a supra or a AE86 or the Toyota trucks

I had a 2015 Sonata Hybrid with 130k and I didn’t have the launch issues, it went like stink and I lined it up with a normal 17 Camry and the Camry stayed behind the whole time.

Not even close to the truth. The first gasoline-electric hybrid car was INVENTED in 1901 by Ferdinand Porsche, the designer of the VW Beetle and the grandfather of the man who designed the Porsche 911.Diesel-electric hybrid powertrains were used on submarines even earlier than that, so hybrid technology is not new, the problem was that battery technology was lagging behind other technologies.The lead acid battery was invented in 1859!

Hybrids are still Toyota's game for the moment, just take the real world example from the video. And very often the Hyundai Fuel Economy figures are too generous, test after test of real world application, results in disappointment.

The reliability ranking classified by brand was announced by Consumer Reports in 2012. The 1st Scion, 2 Toyota, 3 Lexus, 4 Mazda, 5 Subaru, 6 Honda, 7 Acura. 8 Audi, 9 infiniti, 10 Kia, 11 Cadillac, 12 GMC, 13 Nissan, 14 Mercedes-Benz, 15 Chevrolet, 16　BMW, 17 Hyundai, 18 Volkswagen, 19 Jeep. Camry and a sonata are the vehicle representing a brand, respectively.

The Camry isn't just better with Fuel economy and drivability, I actually like the interior and the exterior more than the Sonata. The Sonata just looks hideous from some angles. The Camry looks a lot more luxurious and has more "street presence."

That's also because they're from the Greater Toronto Area. Mississauga = Ontario's India Town. GTA is known for being extremely diverse in culture, which makes it one of the best areas to live in, albeit being extremely expensive.

Well, Toyota got an advantage: They have been making Hybrid cars for long time, even before the Prius. The Sonata Hybrid is the first try from Hyundai on the Hybrid cars. It does very well, but Toyota has more experience on the Hybrid department.

Wanted to get a Sonata Hybrid but.... admittedly Hyundai just isn't there yet. Toyota has more experience in the hybrid vehicle market- which I consider just to be a huge industry experiment. Reliable, but not entirely proven. The 2013 Hybrid is supposed to be a lot better for Hyundai but they've got a ways to go. Ended up getting the 2013 Sonata gasoline for now...

I think it's just a matter of preference. Both are fine with me in regard to performance and price. Toyota Camry is well known, and the design is little bit conservative(especially interior) as a top selling car in the segment. Whereas Hyundai Sonata provides the best cost performance and flowing design as compared in Camry. The choice is up to you :)

to people who like the hyundai do you realized how unrefined the front end is? the lights are down low and point in like a nissan juke, whereas the toyota has a well refined thought out look to it (the back is even better too) the only thing better on the hyundai is the lines on the side

I wouldn't be able to get used to how the hyundai look like. The interior is busy and seems unorganized (but at least it's trying to be different) and the exterior is seriously ugly. I don't understand why most reviewers say it's a really good looking car. I think the entire lineup hyundai has is just straight up ugly.

1) Yes, they do BREAK (learn to spell). Hyundai has the 3rd lowest warranty claims in the industry. Toyota is 7th. That would mean, just to help you along here, Toyota's not only break, but they break more than Hyundai's. Point is, people are not necessarily dumb, that's more just more your standing in life.

the hyundai sonata (or i40 in asutralia) is beautiful. the design, sweapt headlights, large grill... they all make it gorgeous. the toyota is boxy and really, no one really expects much from Toyota anymore. Hyundai is back in the game and make everything else seem old. Toyota really needs to step up in terms of design in the car and out. Keep going Hyundai

I've owned both and they are spot on! He is correct, if you are driving in traffic and need to get on the gas in the Sonata, you have to turn off eco mode or there is what I feel is a dangerous 1.5 seconds between smashing the gas pedal to when the car actually accelerates. (and the Sonata is very road noise compared to the Camry)

Lies! The Camry is super light and boring. The Sonata could be a bit more punchy off the line, but, to me it looks better and has a stronger body. The Camry's body and metal is like paper. It should be illegal to make a car so light and flimsy. I currently have a 2013 Sonata Hybrid as my daily driver and it does well. At one point I owned a 2012 Camry and someone ran an intersection at about 14 to 25 mph. They hit my driver's side door and it was shredded to bits. Had they been going faster, I can only imagine what would have happened. Cheap metal, light cars!

No son,FUCKING Supra from 92-2002, Good job with the Wikipedia though. Read it all the way to the bottom. It's the same car used in Fast And Furious (the first one). Power to go over 1000HP when fine-tuned properly with the right mods. It stands on the same track with the likes of Porsche 911s and Audis. Go try to buy a supra from that generation, still costs over 20k in a decent condition and no Mods, if you can find one i.e.

......i agreed 100% until i saw "Styling"...Stretching it too far. The only stylish toyota car is the new avalon and GT86,(excluding lexus offers)... meanwhile, about 99% of hyundai cars look miles better, excluding the veloster. that aside the other things you mentioned, i'll give you that.

The Passat TDI is better if: you like getting smoked by toyota hybrids at the stop light, you like electrical system failures and enjoy paying more money for camry like ride, while paying more for fuel at the pump. The only place Passat TDI has the advantage over the Toyota is the classy interior, and the bigger trunk.

It's great to see multi ethnic presenters, but the guy with the glasses had such a strong lisp that it made the video too distracting to fully enjoy. He also has odd facial expressions where he looks to be squinting many times throughout the video. He seems like a nice guy and is well informed on both cars, but he needs to work on his hosting skills.

The sonata looks better this model has some weird rims and ugly color? Was that done on purpose? I test drove both SE sonata all black with the 18 inch rims looks way better than a huge rectangular body in the Camry and the insides are nearly identical but the camrys is a BIT better with the stitching but the sonata FEELS luxurious and modern while the Camry is boring and dated . Currently own a Lincoln MKZ which beats both :P
