Hello This is an excellent tutorial video. I just purchased a Dodge Ram Tradesman with small screen. I want to upgrade to the 8.4 NAV/ Apple. The dealer where I purchased is going to do install part of purchase and warranty. I should have done my research and just did it myself. I don’t have full center console. They are installing this with a OEM remote start. I will be calling you guys since I just made purchase few days ago.

So I did not realize I had to replace the screen to get Android Auto to worK. Ram Ucoonnect Nav really sucks, so I am always using my phone for Google Maps.

I have a 2019 ram 1500 classic with the android auto. I currently have the jumper seat and I'm planning on switch to a center console. The center console it out of a 2016 ram 1500 sport. Will I need to switch the harness in the console and change out the media hub to maintain my android auto?

If you have a 2018, do you still need to replace the USB media hub? Your other comments made it sound like it's only necessary on older trucks or with jailbroken phones.

You don't. They showed the hub that already works a couple of times (the longer one with a USB port on the left and one on the right). But don't you already have carplay then?

You would keep the over the air updates if you have them now, And you can do updates via the dealership. If you have XM sat radio you just transfer over the ID number with a phone call at most to get XM sat radio to work on your vehicle.

5:15 what if the heated seat control switch is on the front corners of the seat and not on the center bezel (near trailer brake)

Then you have aftermarket heated seats and they do not go through the factory radio system.

If I was going to give up Uconnect I’d just go with the larger 10” screen. Losing Uconnect is a no go.

@@Infotainment_nav Unless it utilizes Uconnect then I wouldn't be interested. Being able to talk to my phone (Alexa now works w/ Uconnect) to start my truck, lock, or unlock it is not a feature I'm willing to give up. 2016 Ram 3500 Megacab Laramie CTD.

Remote start from the uconnect app. You will retain remote start from the key fob.

How is development going for upgrade options for the 2019 5th Gen Rams? I've been looking but so far I've not seen much in the way of options when it comes to replacing the stock 5" head units.

Look for 5th Gen Ram Upgrades to start coming in August. We've got the 12-inch touchscreen running. Also digital speedometers are close to being ready for 5th Gen. We hear you. And we're working on it.

If I am not going to be using apple car play do I need to switch the usb hubs? Apple blocks the factory one but I dont ever use apple.

Hello, If you want to use apple car play/android auto you would need to change out the media hub to work both phones to allow this to work it would not work for the android auto with the stock USB media hub.

What about the 7 inch instrument panel? Will it say "Apple carplay" when you're on carplay or does it not support that? It currently says Bluetooth, USB, iPod, ... depending on what source you're using

Infotainment I just installed this today and the answer was: it'll just say Apple CarPlay on the 7 inch EVIC cluster where it says "Bluetooth, DAB, FM xxx.xx, iPod". I didn't know if it would because the BCM and EVIC are obviously not updated, but it works!

The new hub has a security feature that prevents using Apple CarPlay with jailbreak iPhones. Apple doesn't want to reward those who chose to utilize IOS without the proper monetary exchange that normally occurs. You know what I mean?
