I can’t believe how useful this is 6 years later. I’m going to check out your other videos, even though I read you sold the triple. Much gratitude from Australia 🇦🇺
And a big Thank You from Wisconsin!! A lot of us have spanners but don't quite know where to start. Thanks for making the first step seem reasonable and easy enough for us to take the leap. Carry on. This is a Value to the community.
I just wanted to say thanks for posting this series; really useful and well put together videos! I'll be doing my own full service this week and your videos have been a great reminder of what goes where on these bikes; and that's having attended a Clive Wood course previously and watched him work on my bike a few times! Cheers!
Another tip: Make sure you catch that sump plug nut before it blocks the drip tray hole. Or you'll find yourself spending the next 3 hours mopping up oil from the floor of your garage.
I learned recently that just because the fully synthetic oil has the right spec, they're not all created equal. I put Smith & Allen fully syn in my Harley and the motor sounded terrible. Got rid of it and smooth service resumed. I guess if the base stock is poor, that'll make a difference.
Thanks for watching and commenting - definitely worth sticking to trusted brands even though they should all manufactured to certain standards as you found with experience 👍
Thanks for the great vids very clear and informative 👍👌. Gonna share it on the Triumph STR Facebook page. Very useful for many riders who are plannjng to do their own maintenance
Thanks for the great videos. I was alway tought to add some oil to the new oil filter before fitting. Not sure how long that takes for to fill up first time when starting the bike. I was surprised at how much oil it took to saturate the paper in the filter, and then some more oil while holding the filter horizontally. I just do it for piece of mind.
I have a 2008 Street but there is loads in these videos which applies to the older bikes....in fact there are many great tips for maintenance of any bike.Better than any Haynes manual!
Hi mate. Thanks very much for these street triple vids, super handy, just bought a mint Rx with 318 miles 😊 can’t wait to start modding! Where did you get the bar risers?
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. I seriously can't remember where I got the bar risers - it was a wee while ago - just searched my inbox and can't find any ref about them sorry :). Enjoy your new ride.
Your Videos are really great for me. Just bought a late 2015 Triumph Street Triple R with 2000km mileage. And i always do the service by myself when i am out of warranty or find some helpful explaining videos! I hope you make another series maybe valve clearance or adjustment. Do you use a explained service manual ..? Great Job! Watched all of your vids and saved them!
Glad you found the videos useful. On my year of bike the valves aren't due until 12000 miles which will probably take me another 3 years to get to ! But never say never I might do a video on it sooner
Anyway i will watch many times. Bikes miy bike got only 1k miles and i find yours quiet useful never saw a video explaing it that good! Take care and make some more great videos! Greetings from Austria!
Hey I've got a 2013 street triple too and noticed you had the same tires mine came with any reason you chose the bridgestone battleax tires I just upgraded to some Q3+ tires for the rear and still have the battleax in the front. Just curious if these tires were known to perform well on this bike or just a coincidence.
Hi thanks for watching. My street came with pirelli diablo rossos (from memory) and I found that they were excellent on a dry sunny day but absolutely shocking on colder wet days I went for better all round tyre that would give better performance and confidence for those damp and colder days. I found them great and have had them on a few bikes now they are normally my tyre of choice.
Thanks a lot m8 T.Just bought a 2013 street 675 that had been a bit neglected by a kid. I would be spending upwards of $1000 + just in labor from the local Triumph dealer for what all needs done. Think they are charging $125 hour ouch! Was wondering is you think I need would need anything done to the computer if I get a slip on exhaust?
Hi sorry for the late reply, you need a diagnostic tool of some description to reset the light,or you could ask your dealer if they would do it for a small charge. good luck
HI sorry for the delay in responding to you if you search for 'Triumph triple oil filter removal too' you will find what you're looking for try this link www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Street-Triple-675-R-2008-to-2016-Oil-Filter-Cup-Removal-Tool-OFW65/282250154718?fits=UKM_Make%3ATriumph&epid=5017024189&hash=item41b76b92de:g:k7IAAOSwXeJYHMWg
Took the bike to my dealership and they overfilled with oil...said its ok...cuz the triple engine consume much oill.. is that bullshit ? Its a 660cc S A2. Shold I just dain out the excess ? Its way above the MAX line..
Yes and no. Firstly the engine oil being overfilled is wrong and you should drain off the excess, the engines can consume oil in between oil changes personally I think it can vary due to how the engine has been run /broken in.
@@TheSussexBiker Thank you...but I.ve already driven like 150 km from the dealer to my home. Did that damage anything internally..didnt hard accelerate , drived normal.
Hi there could many reasons. I would start with checking for fault codes, bad connections / wiring round the head stock/forks etc. When it cuts out does it restart or does it have to cool down? If so it could be a bad sensor. If it does stay in the non start condition you may be able to do some fault finding ie have you got spark? Fuel pump run / pressure. Its hard with out being hands on and physically looking at it. Good luck hope you get it sorted.
Hi mate after changing the oil I now have the oil light flicking on and off when I stop at the lights or end of a ride. Any ideas I’d be grateful ex videos
Did you use a genuine filter or one that was a good brand? correct oil ? level correct? Other than that you'll need to have checked/check the pressure switch and oil pressure. Thanks for watching.
FYI, you should double check the service manual, as for earlier 675cc Street Triples, Triumph's service manual calls for the bike to be on it's side stand when you drain the oil. Also, grab a torque wrench if you're going to be showing people how to do this right man! lol here's how I do it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fmJ1wzj82CQ.html
Thanks for the comments, I will have to check the manual, don't no what you mean about the torque wrench, painfully I just had to re watch this video and I used one on the sump plug? unless your on about the oil filter in which case yes there is a torque figure but having fitted 1000's of oil filters in my life I'm comfortable doing them by 'feel' ymmv
MrBerg01 , I use a metal polish called autosol, and lots of patience. To be honest I have only done it a couple of times in the three years I've owned the bike :)
Hi yes the oil and filter should be changed at the recommended intervals remember it is time and or mileage so even if you haven;t covered 12000 miles in 12 months they should still be changed.
hi i have 16 triple r and the fuel gauge is not updating constantly showin full then all of sudden it drops 2 low level warning light! any thots would be welcome cheers andy! ps its still under warranty so it will be goin back 2 the dealer !!
AJUDGE24 judge Hard to diagnose over the internet. Could be a poor connection, intermittent bad live or earth or even the sender unit. Get your dealer to have a look and come back with the fix. Good luck with it.
