Part Three of a series of Eight videos showing you how to service a 2013 Street Triple R. In this video I balance the throttle bodies using Dealertool and refit the airbox.

Tune Ecu does the service light and ABS. It’s the most inexpensive option. $24 for module and a free app. Great videos!

hi really love your videos very detailed, i currently doing a service on the str but after putting the tank bank on the fuel sender is not working on the instrument panel, there is voltage change on dealertool sensor when i lift the take, so i dont think the float is stuck and its still communicating with the ecm, but the voltage is low 0.20. the tank is half full. I had the same faults come up on dealertool, cheers

Thanks for the kind comments, if I remember correctly when I did mine the fuel gauge tool quite a while to start working and registering again. Try leaving it for a while and either running the bike stationary or taking it for a short ride, I'm sorry I can't remember how long it took but do remember thinking it was taking quite a while and I nearly pulled the tank back up to check the connection.

No unfortunately not I got rid of the bike before the valve clearances were due otherwise I would have. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for the really helpful tutorials! How do I avoid kinking of the right breather pipe (the one with the clip)? Where does it run exactly, I figured a part of it has to be in the frame and goes then under the airbox, but it's a tight fit. Or am I wrong with that? Does it have to avoid contact with the cylinder top? It would really help me, if you could share that part of the airbox refit.

Reply to myself: The right breather pipe needs to go under the air box. It's a really tight fit to the right (not in the frame!) and the top of the motor. Once in the right position the air box slips easily in place. Hope this helps anybody who stumbles over the same little problem.

The outer two should match the centre cylinder (which you don't adjust) I forget the tolerance I thinks it's no more than 20 but would have check the manual to be sure.

You need a suitable diagnostic program I used a program called dealer tool. There is also one called tune ecu but I don't know whether it will reset the service light.

Hi mate I’ve got a 2016 str. Will I need to take the bike to triumph to remove that service light? I have not yet performed the service I’ve only just received the service kit from the uk thanks

How do we know when to balance the throttle body?

It's part of the service at certain mileages- although if it was a higher mileage bike you would need to check your valve clearances first- I didn't as the bike wasn't due a valve clearance check at the time and mileage when this video was shot.

hi thanks for your guide I used for my speed triple, but i could't do it a perfect balance. I used tuneecu and the best value after work is cyl1 66, cyl 2 59, and cyl 3 66. do you know why the cyl2 is more down that others cyl?

So... do I need any of the sensores conected when adjusting the trhotle bodies? I do have the Tiger 800 XC. The problem is hat, when i go for the trhotle cheks and turn on the key... nothing it's shown on the display/screen. What am I doing wrong hear?? Can you help? ps: must have the map sensor conected? on top of airbox?? Will it be it??

Not sure on the tiger if it's the same as the street-if it is follow the video or see if you can download a workshop manual and follow the procedure in there.

Hi been watching your vids and quite new when reading ECUs. Which software is the best for STR 2013; ecutune or dealertool? Prolly won't meddle with flashing first but ideally for ABS bleeding and clearing fault codes for now. Also, should I get the Bluetooth or cable obd cable and which is the recommended?

It's called dealertool. Search it on the web, I was quite impressed with it to be fair.

Amine Salim not as far as I know. I believe the ecu's are locked from 2013.

Really good tutorial! Since you seem to know your way around 2013 street triple, I'm wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm facing :) I'm trying to replace my stator, I'm all done with cover/stator removal, gasket and so on, but I cannot find how to disconnect the CPS-crankshaft position sensor which comes along the stator, in fact I did not find the connector. I'm guessing it's hidden somewhere behind throttle body / starter motor, but how am I supposed to even get a finger in there? Anyway, great video =)

Thanks for watching. I've not replaced a stator yet. Checking the workshop manual it does refer to a multiplug but it's not clear on it's location. All can I suggest is you follow the wires. Thanks for taking the time to check this :) I'll read it carefully however at first glance it looks like the 2012 or older kind of connectors which at not located at the same place. Anyway this might help a lot so thank you very much!

I'm told you can't connect an Obd reader to a 2016 speed triple, apparently it will shut the bike down, and you have to take it to the dealer to be unlocked. Anyone know anything about this?

For sure the early ecu's were unlocked in terms of being able to map youself using something like tune ecu. 2014 onwards there are protected from third party software loading different maps on. It's true in the case of any ecu when you writing to it that you can corrupt it. That's not the same as connecting and obd reader to read codes,as in the case of my street I used a third party scan tool/software with no issues.

Thanks for video - really came in helpful tonight. Quick q, how do I remove the fault code as engine warning light now on dash? I dont have any software - can I reset any other way? Thanks

The service warning spanner can only be reset software. If its a fault (mil light) I believe after 3 starts from cold to hot,if it's not a current/ permanent fault it will reset. I think it did on the earlier models not sure on the later ones.

Thanks. Not related to your post but was looking for ignition cable grey socket as got an issue with clocks going dead and resetting when I press start button. Its intermittent at the moment but happening more frequently. After a few seconds everything comes back to life and it starts fine and no issues when fired up. Any ideas? Battery fine. Thx

This may take a bit of fault finding. I would start by checking battery voltage under cranking. Live and earth for volt drop. Then check starter button and circuit. Don't know where connector is off the top of my head.

So bike needs to be warm, but you disconnect the gas it appears (brown connector). How long will it run disconnected?

Greg Welch You need to have the fuel tank connected or a subsitute fuel tank connected when you do the throttle balance.

Hi, I'm about to attempt this on an older 2011 Street triple R and on my bike the intake air temp sensor(IAT) is on top of the airbox and so are the 2 ECM connectors. If the airbox needs removing to balance the throttle bodies , will the bike run with the IAT disconnected?

Paul Mp. The bike should run with it disconnected, but it will flag a fault code which will need clearing afterwards. Have a search on the net to find the correct manual, to check the procedure. It shouldn't be too hard to find ;)
