2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus vs. 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo 

First gen Audi R8 is such a proper supercar. My dream car definitely.

Anybody who has owned a car before would know that the "turning heads" factor, while it will feel great in the beginning, gets incredibly old and sometimes even obnoxious, and it's what's underneath the car that makes you want to keep the car. With that said, however, the Turbo could really use some additional noise.

You cant be serious comparing r8 to 911turbo. I am not a big fan of porshe but that fucker blows almost anything when it comes to take offs and all around performance.

LOL a turn key start system is not a disadvantage imo it adds more character to the car and seems less like an appliance.

The 911 is my baby, fun piece of machinery.

I wish the 911 Turbo had the nicer interior and supercar looks but in the end I'd still buy a 911 Turbo for sheer driving enjoyment, and I wouldn't feel like I'm compromising or settling.

So people out there actually think the only reason someone would get an R8 (or some other exotic) is to turn heads? Seriously? Here's a thought, maybe they just like the R8 better. I find the R8 more exciting personally, that's why I'd get it. I'd get an exotic because I like them and I DONT care what people think. These are not fashion accessories, they're supercars! I would love to track my R8, daily drive my R8, and sit in my garage to just look at my R8. I couldn't get as happy or excited about the 911, it resembles a VW bug too much, sure it drives great though. But seriously, to hell with what people think of your car weather they like it or not, you bought this 6-figure car, you might as well be the one who likes it!

The nurburgring lap times says 911 turbo is faster ! R8 v10+ has a lap time of 7:45.00. The 911 Turbo has a lap time of 7:29.00, big difference here.

Na over turbo any day! I'm sure the r8 is a more visceral car than the muted 911 turbo. Both are fantastic cars though.

Would definitely like to see them revisit this comparison with summer tires on a hot summer day and see if any options have changed.

Just drove with my mate in his 911 turbo. I fly aircraft for a hobby. Oh my God, what a machine! Watching this on YT gives NO idea of the acceleration. How formula 1 must be is unimagineable. I have a new found respect for these supercars. Pleaee, all of you, watch less and experience more. You will not be disappointed.

Your comment on grip.... I took my 991 turbo s to Putnum park amateur small track. I disagree with you, I feel that the back end wants to step out so I have to back down on the power on most of turns. Not much grip, keep in mind this is a short track....

You said V10 Plus is most expensive model in the range... Audi R8 V10 GT version starts at 213.350,00 $ and it's slightly better overall, mostly lighter.

if you are buying audi R8 , you are buying the V8 because this is the best car for what it was made (everyday, fast, easy to drive, pretty reilable, cheap car). you can buy the hardcore V10 plus , but you are paying extra money for the sprotiness you dont need . if you want sport car you buy GT3 RS or maybe even ferarri . its not worth buying any of them

Since most of the people will never track the car, the R8 is the winner. Everybody prefer the Turbo because of 0-60 and turning capability but come on, in real life 1 out of 10 will even put a feet on a race track. The R8 is just sexy and brutal. The beetle on steroids is perfect on numbers but lacks of soul, and the designe is just too boring and outdated (some will say it's heritage, ha!)

Tmp Cayuga? What was the best time in the turbo? I did 1:19s in my Cayman R. Only ask because I just upgraded to a 991 Turbo S.

Come on AutoGuide - you all should know better. The old 5.0V10 which was an Lambo design was retired a long time ago. This 5.2 V10 is an Audi design based off the 4.2 V8. It's not a "Lambo engine"

Came in to question why a Turbo S wasn't used, until I realized they were trying to make the prices match as well. Turbo S is a lot more expensive than the R8 V10 Plus, unfortunately. Either way, the results would've been the same. Personally, I'd go with a Turbo S over the R8 V10 Plus, but I'd go with the R8 over the regular Turbo.

I drove facelifted lambo gallardo with that v10 engine, and ppl that are saying you buy those cars only to get an attention are plain stupid. You probably have no freakin idea how it feels to drive that mid engine monster, how great this engine sounds, how much fun you have as those cars are really tailhappy. Only bad thing in that car was that r-tronic gearbox but they changed it to stronic in those facelifted r8s - that makes them such perfect exotic cars. Who gives a flyin fk if that 911 will be 1 or 2 secs faster around the track...

The 2015 Audi R8 V10 will be much better and faster than the boring 911....everywhere you can see the 911, but the R8 is a real Supercar with a great sound and much more emotions! :)

I disagree, the 911 is the head turner. Better looking, better engineered, easier to drive oh and not to mention faster and more practical. What more could you want? And all this on two less cylinders.

Turning heads?! Lol give me a break its a matter of taste. The new 991 looks gorgeous in person but in photos its not that good. I prefer the 911 bc its a drivers car and its all about driving pleasure. Its a Bentley, a Camry, and a Gt-R at the same time. Its a real car.

I hate to be that guy but a fairer comparison would be the 911 Turbo S because it's price is much closer to the Audi... With its increased horsepower the Turbo S would absolutely demolish the Audi... Not to mention who cares if Porsche 911's all look similar, because they all look better than any Audi ever made...

The 911 turbo is fast as hell. The good thing about the 911 turbo is that is turbocharged from factory, whereas the R8 isnt. The other good thing about porsche is the handling. The damn car is way better than the audi R8. The R8 is almost like a drifto king car. Anyways, you can always modify them and compare who has a bigger dick but stock for stock. The 911 turbo beats it. Now about the looks. Depends on where you go. The audi R8 is definetly going to attrack more people than the 911 because the 911 turbo basically looks the same as a boxster, cayman, gt3, etc... Yes they dont look the same but remember not everyone has the money to afford a porsche and not everyone is a car enthusiast. So for the looks definitely an R8 because it just has that supercar look and you can see the engine covered with a piece of glass that revs up to 8700rpm with stock exhaust, its pretty loud. For handling and hauling ass through all gears, listening to the turbos screaming at your back, then definitely the 911 turbo.

base model 911 is the way to go.

Porche is still... just a porche. They all look alike. Someone could be driving a 35k porche next fo your 911 Turbo and if you asked a regular person they wouldn't be able to tell you the difference. There is something wrong with that.

Audi needs to stop protecting it's Lambo daughter. Stick the RS6/7 engine in the nest R8. 560 hp and 517lb-ft of torque. It shouldn't even be a question (though am not sure if the dual clutch can handle the torque).

Honestly. F the porsche. 150k for a car that looks just like the one thats 1/2 the price. Don't lie to yourself. The 911 doesn't look much different from the boxster or the cayman. I'll take the one thats got the engine from the $300thousand lambo instead of the $85 911 carrera.....
