2014 - CURRENT FORD EDGE BATTERY INSTALL / YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT THE FACTORY DID TO MY CAR! 

Ford engineer "Hey lets put the battery by the fire wall" to make it really hard to change, especially when its pouring rain or northern climate neg 30 and dark out. PITA

We had the same issue with our 2013 Escape, it's obvious that the engineers don't service their own vehicles. It's crazy that so much of the engine compartment needs to be disassembled just to get to the battery, sure not a roadside repair. Our shop (not Ford) still needed to use a meter to recalibrate the battery to the battery voltage sensor.

I have a 2010 ford kuga and i found that were the battery is it's the most stupidest place they they could have put it, really good getting it cheaper from the dealer , excellent video.

Dodge Journey is worse battery location. Driver side tire has to be removed, inner fender liner taken out and it is behind the bumper. They ought to make the engineers work on them for 5 years BEFORE being allowed to design anything.

My wife’s 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees battery is now over 7 yrs old still working great never failed yet . It’s under the passenger seat

just a heads up for those that have a 2014 edge. It is not set back that deep and much easier to get to. I believe this set up started in 2015 & up.

Thanks for the input , mine is doing the same thing , a little short on cash , got most of it , but I'll have to wait until the end of the month before I can even do anything about it , really sucks .

I was just about to type that very paragraph, the insulation in heat refractive, however the battery still becomes heat soaked after longer engine runtime internals but now without the refractor it will become heat soaked much more quickly than previously. With all that in mind in the end the battery installed is an AGM and resistant to heat much more than older style lead acid types. I would also like to add it is a common myth that cold is bad for lead acid batteries, in reality it is quite opposite and there are a plethora of case studies on the fact. More people replace faulty or weak batteries in hotter climates than in colder climates. Always remember a hot engine will always turn over easier than a cold engine and just because a battery won’t start a cold engine doesn’t mean it’s bad. Figured I’d add some extra wisdom from my prior experiences and research from the past 17 years.

as a Ford tech I can appreciate the effort that it takes to install a battery in that Edge a job well done !! that "sensor" is a battery monitor sensor it's pretty important it a real good idea to take it to someone that has a scanner to reset the BMS sensor values in the pcm ... it is possible that if you have a relationship with your local Ford dealership they may reset that for no charge ... I know we do all the time cause that's my job it's pretty important to reset the BMS !!! I have seen that sensor cause havoc in a electrical system!!! even a no crank no start !! anyways we wish you the best and thanks for quality content!!!

Hi sir I've had to change my battery on my focus and i had a hard job getting my battery out i smeared some dielectric grease on the battery post and had to use my diagnostic equipment to register the new battery for the pcm to correct the charging voltage so the alternator doesn't charge too much. and destroy the battery plates thanks Tony 😊

Was there a connector on that negative side sensor? Didn't see you plug one in before you shoved it back there into Narnia.

I hoping you cut that part out but if not you missed one very important step and that is to clean the terminal ends and the battery post it’s makes for a better contact…👍👍

That sounds like us. I went out to start our 2006 Ford truck,and it was DEAD,I had to call my sister from montevallo so we could go to NAPA to get another battery

I found out myself the only Ford batteries motorcraft and GM batteries AC Delco batteries you're better off going to the dealer to get them for the same price for like you said cheaper it's not worth shopping around just call the dealer but you may want to call a couple dealers they do charge different prices

I am relieved to hear that the pathetic "heat shield" is worthless. I recently replaced my pain-in-the-ass-to-get-to (had to cut through the dash board) motorhome battery and forgot to wrap the new battery with that rag.

That looked like a piece of cake, its much more difficult on a Lincoln MCX, or something like that. You must remove the air box which is very easy, replacing the air box that has been warped by engine heat will drive you stir crazy,and you may even coin a few new cuss words like I did !

You would think that American engineering could figure a better place for a battery.

Now you know why dealer shop labor/parts prices are so high.

The stylists quest to build smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic vehicles at lowest cost have forced automotive engineers into solutions having a distant afterthought for simple serviceability. A sad compromise hated by any DIY mechanic.

2014 was the 1st gen body style. 2015 was the 2nd gen. We bought a 2015 titanium with 25k miles on it. It had a crack in the block as it kept needing coolant. Luckily ford replaced the motor but we got rid of that lemon and sold it for more than we paid for it. I will never buy a vehicle that is the first year of a new body style/generation ever again. Not bashing fords. My 03 sport trac has 197k on it and its only had the water pump replaced and that was my fault for not putting enough antifreeze in it. Lol

Chevy Tahoes are the same way. Negative terminal difficult to remove because it is under firewall

Ford's are the best trucks and large SUVs but you should really buy a Toyota or Lexus for a small SUV or car. It's like buying an echo or Stihl of the small vehicle market! Anything smaller than a V8 explorer or 4.0 ranger I would not buy Ford!

Dude that is a AGM battery. You need to test it on the battery on the battery side. Lol.

If you dont know what things are you should not be doing a video. The black box is the BMS mod. It monitors the votage.
