JAH MEGA The latest communicators from Sena, UCLEAR, and Interphone allow you to pair with other brands. Just look for "universal pairing" in the product details. Sena calls it Universal Intercom, UCLEAR calls it Open Intercom, and Interphone calls it Anycom. -DrewZilla
Hey Joe! The Sena SMH10R is one of the lightest / lowest profile kits out there and one of our favorites. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-bluetooth-headset
Faisal Almaiman Listening to music does count as talk time, though listening to music via a physical wire requires slightly less power than streaming music via Bluetooth. -DrewZilla
Trying to choose between the Sena S20 and the Cardo G9x. There features are about the same. It'd mostly be used for rider/passenger intercom, (using ear buds for one of us), listening to music, occassional phone call. Which do you recommend?
I have the u clear and its was extremely easy to install and the connect to my phone. I bought the dual pack since I ride with my wife and it was a little confusing linking them but after a quick video we had them paired in no time... It has really good sound and the mic picks up great.... I really recommend the U clear!
just picked up the sena 20s and i gotta say i really do like it i have it hooked up to my arai vector 2 and fits like a glove headphone fit without a problem the only thing i recommend is using the wired mic and put the boom mics to the side. downloading the app was easy and connecting it was easier and same goes for the computer update and download. and its alright to be a little rough to the 20s it does take some solid taps to activate the voice commands and the "hello sena" command is pretty useless so just stick with the taps. still need to figure out all the little flaws atm but i give it a solid 7/10 ATM firmware updates if brought on quickly and efficiently will raises it to a 8-9/10 :)
Aussie Butters Thanks for the run-down! The 20S has been flying off the shelves, even with some of the software issues. Hopefully all the kinks are worked out soon. I'll be tempted to buy a set once they are. -Kraus-e
This review was very helpful, i'm a new rider and was looking to get a bluetooth so me and my friends could communicate better and with that hopefully stay out of trouble. But my question is about the Sena 20s I didn't catch in the video if it was waterproof or not?
Lucas Plouffe The Sena 20S is highly water-resistant. It was not built to handle being submerged in water, but will handle rainstorms. Good luck this deer season! -Hi-Viz Brian
I have the hbc 200 but for some reason will not pick up my voice was working fine for about 2 months, does anyone have the same problem. Also what will be the best budget bluetooth with a boom?
MrTrucker89 One of the best budget Bluetooth systems is the Sena SMH-10. Give our Gear Geeks a call at 1-877-792-9455 or email to cs@revzilla.com so we can help you troubleshoot the issues you're having with your UCLEAR unit. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh-10-bluetooth-stereo-headset
You did a great job on this piece. Just a few corrections. The 20S supports ear buds, and up to 8 multiway intercom connections. It’s also BT 4.0 compatible, which means low power, and that left over power can be put to longer range, which is 1.2 miles (2000 meters). Great job otherwises. Here is the SENA comparison list. www.sena.com/product-comparison-chart/
Does the new SMH20 allow swapping out the in-helmet speakers for ear bids or molded in-ear monitors? Also, how far backwards-compatible is Senna's all-brands software? I have a pair of Scala Q2's (not the Q2 Plus; the older model) and want to upgrade without rendering what I already have useless, but nothing (including the current Scala models) seems to be compatible with them.
Woot! Waiting on the Sena 20S full review. It sucks cause i want this, but with this release, the SMH10 has gone down in price, making it temping. Tell me why this is better than the 10 in your review :) Looking forward to it. (also, amazon has it in stock, dont make me get it from them :P )
Looking to buy a helmet (historically ride without) looking at BlueTooth ready models like TORC or O'Neal. Is it better to buy after markets like you demo here & install into a regular helmet? Have recommendation on lightest weight full face best audio option for a BT ready helmet?
We NEED to see a $100- Video on bluetooth options. I for one would love to see the BTS 1 or BTS 2 included and compared. I need that riding on a budget stuff, I have a wife and kids man I dont get to see money lol
Midland BT Next Water proof multi layer playing and able to connect to all other blue tooth and I have been using them for almost 2 years way ahead of the other!! Easy enough for me to even use!!
I bought the Q3 last fall this the 3rd time I used it and the last. I got on the hi-way and it went flying over my helmet. I made sure it was "clicked In" because it doesn't do it easily.
you said that the sena 20s is the only bt device that has an android apple app B4 plus has that, and has the universal intercom as well. (B4 plus n-com)
Looking at intercom for a gift, looking at the Autocom Air here in the UK, seems to be a good simple unit, and the in helmet aspect looks great compared to clamping onto the helmet. Wondering how it compares to these?
in case I've a smh10 and want to buy an 20s?? can i use the shell of the smh10 and just buy the mainunit from the new 20s?? or must i buy the complete 20s set if i want to upgrade??
AgainstTheRoad All Sena Bluetooth units are solid as a complete package. They include mounting hardware, speakers, and the Bluetooth unit, in addition to any instructions needed. -Hi-Viz Brian
Great point! All of these units will work on most full-face helmets as well. We chose to show them on modular helmets in the video to make it easier for customers to see the "ins and outs" of the systems. Thanks Jay Pichardo! -Hi-Viz Brian
Great Video, My Question. I have my Automobile 3790LTM GPS in a waterproof mount on my bike. Works great for a visual. Will the Sena 20S enable me to hear my GPS and can they Pair together. Thanks. Been waiting impatiently for this one
ntucker5000 Thanks for the feedback! If you want to pair with a Cardo G9 (I assume you meant G9), the best option for full compatibility is the current Cardo G9x. While the Sena 20S does have universal pairing, you get the best functionality by pairing two of the same brand's units, so Cardo with Cardo, Sena with Sena. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cardo-scala-rider-g9x-headset
I just recently bought the SMH10R and love it. Something Anthony said that struck me- he said the Sena 20S was the only one that had compatibility with other brand intercoms. As far as I know (according to the manual) the SMH10R also has "Universal Intercom" functionality.
tuuskee With the 20S, you can listen to music and gps navigation simultaneously. This is called audio multitasking. With the SMH10, you can only listen to one source at a time. If you are listening to music and a gps direction comes through, the music will be paused and interrupted. After the direction is given, the music will resume. -DrewZilla
Just a quick add in about your claim on the 20S. Nolan's BT4+ is inter-connectable with other manufacturers devices such as Sena, Midland and Cardo and has its own app to control the radio presets, paired devices and so on. I have been riding with it for the last 6 months and its awesome. Granted the draw back is its specific to Nolan helmets. Maybe you can do a video break down on the NCOM BT4 itself since I haven't seen one yet.
It sure is. For more info checkout the link - rvz.la/1dWgT6v. We hope to have a video breakdown sooner than later. Our video team is burning the candle at both ends. Thanks for the information. It's very helpful. -Hi-Viz Brian
Thanks for your help Brian. But unfortunately you can't have 3 or 4-way comms ie group chat. Need to toggle back and forth. If had known this before hand I wouldn't have bought the Scala Rider Q3.
How do I pair my q3 with my friends q3? They bought a daul set which is already paired. I can't pair mine with theirs for 3-way comms. Please help thanks.
Wolfy2929 Have a look at the link below (page 2 section 7). Also, feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at 1-877-792-9455 or cs@revzilla.com for help. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.cardosystems.com/user_files/qg/Q/MAN01003%20Q3%20QG%20EN.pdf
Have a Shoei GT-Air Wanderer - just wondering which setup would be best for simply connecting to my phone and playing music, but also maintaining a low profile inside the helmet. Ideally, I would not even see or feel it inside the helmet, but is able to pick up voice reasonably clearly. Any suggestions?
***** Pretty much all the speakers are the same thickness. The GT-Air should have enough space in the ears to handle any of them. If low-profile is your game, the Sena SMH10R is the way to go. If microphone quality is #1, go with a Cardo. In the end, it's more important how you set the thing up. If your mic is far away from your face and you don't have the chin curtain installed, no one will hear you. -Kraus-e
I want to listen to music and am tired of dealing with ear buds. What would you recommend for a Shoei rf-1200? I have read some things online that say some speakers wont fit in the factory cutouts without modification. I don't want to have to modify the helmet, and I would like for the unit to be as unobtrusive as possible. also the newest version of Bluetooth would be a plus. I think they are up to 4.1.
The Shoei RF-1200 has slight indentations around the ears, just behind the foam flap, that will accept speakers. For a low profile setup, I'd recommend the Sena SMH10R. It's Bluetooth 3.0. -Hi-Viz Brian www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-bluetooth-headset
Will the Sena 20s allow GPS to be bleed in with Intercomm and Music all together? Any update on the in depth video review from you guys? Can't wait for this headset to be released!
Howcome the INTERPHONE F5MC wasnt included in this buying guide just the auto - reconnect feature is a huge plus since with these units you would have to stop and pair up again if you go out of range
We haven't received a definitive answer from Cardo just yet regarding its U.S. release. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later. The concept is awesome. -Hi-Viz Brian
Curt Morse I wouldn't consider the Schuberths "Bluetooth-enabled" so to speak. I would call them Bluetooth-compatible, since the Schuberth SRC integrates seamlessly but is sold separately. I'd add Nolan as the only other major option with their N-Com, which again integrates but is sold separately. I don't find a need to narrow down a category when there are only two options in it. Personally, I find the SRC and N-Com systems to be expensive for what you get. If you look at our just-released 2015 Bluetooth Guide, you'll notice that the Sena SMH10R and Sena 3S are as compact or even moreso than the SRC and N-Com, offer similar or even more functionality, and cost less. Plus, as universal systems, they fit in almost any helmet, as long as the helmet has room for speakers. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/2015-best-motorcycle-bluetooth-headsets-buyers-guide
The anticipation for the s20 is killing me, I just ordered all my goretex gear and have to wait until may or possibly june to be able to enjoy bluetooth connectivity.
Tell me about it! They say good things come to those who wait. I wouldn't hate it if Sena offered their employees a little overtime right about now. -Hi-Viz Brian

Curious to hear why the Interphone F5 didn't make it into the guide. Based on your previous video review of the product, it seems like a pretty solid contender.
Anthony mentioned it in the Q3 reveiw video. Sh it happens. I emailed Cardo support and they said you need to toggle. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. Will try it soon. It sucks that my two friends can chat together while riding and I'm missing the conversation. :(
They could sell so many more of these if the different manufactures would agree on a basic protocol for rider to rider communication so you didn't have to try and get all your friends to get the same unit you have. It's Bluetooth, not Blackmagic.
Good news! A few manufactures are introducing a universal intercom feature into their systems. -Hi-Viz Brian 1. senabluetooth.com/sena-technologies-features-universal-intercom-for-cross-brand-compatibility/ 2. www.n-com.it/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=364&Itemid=261&lang=us

I've been hearing that the SMH-10 (not just the 20) can pair with headsets from other brands as well. Can anyone verify this? Second question, I hear talk and standby battery durations, where will they fall if you don't link up with other headsets but you do use them for music? Thanks, great video as always!
The battery duration explanation could be clearer. They should list them as active (not talk) or standby. If you're actively using the system, whether it's through the intercom or listening to music, you will use the battery at approximately the same rate. This is true from my personal experience with my SMH10 as well. -Hi-Viz Brian senabluetooth.com/sena-technologies-features-universal-intercom-for-cross-brand-compatibility/
From the Sena SMH10 manual: "17.1 Universal Intercom Pairing: The SMH10 can be paired with non-Sena Bluetooth headsets for Bluetooth intercom conversation. You can pair the SMH10 with only one non-Sena Bluetooth headset; if you pair with a different non- Sena Bluetooth headset, the previous pairing list will be removed." So just *ONE* other non-Sena Bluetooth headsets for Bluetooth intercom conversation. :|
I'm kind of on a budget, but a mate and I are currently riding a lot together so we thought that we should probably get an intercom. What budget intercoms are out there and which one would you recommend? requirements: 300+meters of range Rider to rider connection sidenote: Both of us use full-face helmets. Seeing all those intercoms, I see tons of extras I just do not need.
That's an easy one. I recommend the Sena SMH10R dual pack. If you buy the dual pack and split it with you buddy it's much cheaper than buying two singles. -Hi-Viz Brian www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-bluetooth-headset-dual-pack
2spooky You can mount any of these communicators on the MX-9 Adventure helmets as well as any from our updated 2015 Bluetooth Guide linked below. If you'll be doing any riding in wet, dusty, or muddy conditions, I'd recommend the Interphone F5MC and the Sena SMH10R. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/2015-best-motorcycle-bluetooth-headsets-buyers-guide *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/interphone-f5mc-stereo-bluetooth-intercom *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-bluetooth-headset
Tong Garwin They are close in comparison. The G9x edges out the SMH10R in areas like range and battery life. However, the SMH10R still has exceptional range and battery life. I like the SMH10R because of its universal intercom feature. Cardo does not offer it at this time. -Hi-Viz Brian * senabluetooth.com/universal_intercom/
Will sena smh10R mining equipment that convenient? For example say I have two helmets often in exchange for going to use will simply adopt change it? Or can be added directly to buy a headset and microphone mounted in a fixed helmet use when taken directly manipulate the body and change batteries?
Tong Garwin You will need an extra battery, speakers, and microphone if you want to switch between helmets. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-battery-pack * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-slim-speakers * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-wired-microphone * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-smh10r-attachable-boom-microphone
I am debating between after market Bluetooth or the bluetooth that would come with schuberth c3pro helmet. Pending on my decision I may even opt out of the schuberth and go with something like the SHARK modular alternative. Is there a real difference between OEM schuberth bluetooth or the aftermarket once? I am looking for quite helmet and good bluetooth device mainly for phone calls and music. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
JUDY FOX-MARCHEV The SRC System is made my Cardo. It's basically the Cardo G9X technology installed into a Schuberth neck-roll for a completely sleek design. -Hi-Viz Brian
RevZilla wow great insight I really appreciate you input. What about helmet, do you think that schuberth c3pro is the quietest helmet out there? Should I really go all the way in or is there alternative ? I am on 1200SGS but doing mostly city and highway i just love the fit and comfort of the bike.
Asen Marchev I think the C3 Pro is one of the quietest modular helmets on the market if it fits your head shape correctly. My intermediate oval head doesn't fit the C3 Pro's round shape. I fit much better into the Shoei Neotec. The C3 Pro and Neotec are two of the best modular helmets on the market in my opinion. -Hi-Viz Brian

+biglo99 All Sena communicators can pair with each other as well as with an iPhone/Android, including the SMH10R with up to three SMH10s (four total in group).
