got one today. Updating firmware was fiddley but after a few attempts it worked. Fitting was fairly easy. Finding the manual difficult to understand but watching like this is helping a lot! Sound quality seems excellent.
Great advice. Sena 20S just arrived in the mail today - ordered direct from Sena. So glad they've done away with the separate mount to use earbuds. I've gone thru 3 mounts as the attachment point always broke. Love this new one!
sena has a long way o go if they want to be the top communications device. when it works its great but too many times its erratic. the range is good and battery life is good. Keep at it sena
There is actually a third and much simpler method to access voice command menu and that is the press the button on the bottom of the base of the unit, the part which state is connected to your helmet at all times. Do not hold it just quickly press it and let go and you will hear the prompt "say a command"
n4mwd I've got the 20s updated to version 1.3 I have 2 helmets: Full and Half. I'm still familiarizing my with the headsets. I can tell you the FM Radio works like a charm! I ride a 1300 VStar Tourer w/windshield, was wearing my Half helmet while listening to 98.5(Melbourne Beach, FL) doing 80 mph on rte 95 at about half volume. I was IMPRESSED in the reception and clarity. Although I only focused on the volume at the time, I did not give a voice command.
Rich Schmitz I ended up buying the uclear instead because it works without a boom microphone and I have a modular helmet. However, it has a lot of firmware issues and not many voice commands. It is supposed to answer the phone when you say "pick up", but in reality, any noise will cause it to answer. No way to disable that "feature" and just use the buttons. Sounds like the Sena is way ahead of the game in terms of firmware.
It’s unfortunate that controlling the few features of the SENA is so complicated that people need to watch a 15 min tutorial. I still have no clue how to use mine.
When I try to use the voice command to speed dial it always goes to redial instead. I've adjusted the mic to several spots and have tried pronouncing it different and still no effect. Is there a different way to use the speed dial function?
All Sena headsets can connect to each other for talking over the intercom. Our products also have a Universal Intercom feature that allows them to communicate with headsets from other brands. For more information about our products, please visit www.sena.com.
I just purchased this headset and turning the FM Radio on and off is not working. Giving a voice command fm radio turns it on but saying fm radio again does not turn it off but does make it stop playing. Talked with SENA and was told this is a firmware problem that should be corrected soon.
If you plug earbuds into the device, will it mute the ear-speakers? Im asking because im thinking of connecting the Sena's earbud-output to the GoPro's mic input with a 3.5mm male-male cable so that all the riders' communications will be recorded in the GoPro's video too.
I have a couple of Sena 20s and I wonder why in one of my helmets the sound is too low?. I swith devices using the right one on the helmet that sound low and is the same. What can I do? I called Sena and they told to use Audioboost or Audio Book reset
I will pull out the speakers from both helmets to see if the problems are the speakers. Also since very short ago I ear at very low volume when the Sena says the commands
Hi, Please help !! I am considering purchasing a Sena 20s. My friend who I ride with has a Bmw System 6 Helmet with Bmw Bluetooth built in. I would like to know a) would the Sena 20s connect to this ? b) If we went out off range would they automatically re connect when in range ? c) At the same time would I be able to listen to my co pilot sat nav instructions from my Htc 0ne Mobile phone ? d ) Would it be possible for you to show a video off it carrying out these task and how to do it ? Thank you very much for your help
Does anyone know if there is a way to independently control intercom volume and GPS volume? The GPS volume is SUPER LOUD I=when I set the volume so I can hear the intercom comfortably. If I turn down the volume so I can hear the GPS (without hurting my ears), I can't hear the paired intercom...There must be a way to fix this...Please help! Thanks!!
Steve Plante Each function has a volume setting. By that I mean talking on the phone, intercom and GPS turn by turn. You have to adjust the volume in each function when you’re using that function. So in other words, when you start hearing the GPS give you a turn, that’s when you need to adjust the volume control for that particular function. When you’re in an intercom conversation, you need to adjust the volume while that intercom channel is open. Same thing for a phone call. All three volumes work independent of each other. I hope that helped
I just got the 20s and I'm having trouble with Siri, it picks up everything I say but Siri doesn't know when you are finished speaking while using the Sena. If we do the identical procedure without the Sena unit it works flawlessly. We're running iOS 9.0.2 iPhone 6 and the latest firmware v1.5for the Sena unit. Anyone else have this issue? Please help.
I have the senna 20s evo and the voice commands on it are rubbish. Im sitting in my living room with my helmet on trying to get them to work. It just pick up what your saying. And the double tap thing is crap.
Hi Michael, Yes the Sena can be connected to other riders for intercom and also your phone (or another device, the 20S can connect 2 devices at once.) If you have audio multitasking enabled you can have your music from your phone on even while someone speaks over intercom. -Alyssa
This unit requires you to tap it so hard, it looks like I'm beating myself in the side of the head when trying to activate voice command while riding. Shouldn't have to tap it that hard. And with gloves on, it's even harder to get it to recognize the taps. Kind of a lame design in that regard but the other stuff works pretty good.
You can enable the voice command feature on the 20S by double tapping the main module, saying "Hello Sena" into the microphone or tapping the Ambient Mode Button once on the clamp kit.
So far, I think the Sena 20S is a piece of junk! I can't get anything to work on it. I paired it with the mate in the dual set, but they won't talk to each other! Nothing works. I'm so frustrated!
Do you have to tap it twice EVERY TIME you want it to do something via voice command or can you just say "Hello Sena." Tapping it twice every time would be a pain in the ass!
It would need to be done each time you want to use a voice command on the headset. Saying "Hello Sena" can only be used when the headset is in standby mode and not using one of the functions, like talking over the phone. If you want to give a voice command while using one of the functions then you would need to double tap the main unit to activate the voice command system. You can also tap the Ambient Mode Button once on the clamp kit to activate the voice command system. This function was added after this video was created.
With the 20S, Is there a way to adjust the volumes of Music, Intercom, and Phone independently? Every time someone intercoms the volume is way too loud, yet the music is fine? Also, is there a way to temporarily cut off the Music when there is an incoming or outgoing Intercom message or Phone call?
The volume level of music, intercom and phone calls are independent on the 20S. You can adjust these volume levels when these functions are active. Music can automatically be paused when the intercom is opened by disabling the Audio Multitasking feature on the 20S. The music will resume automatically when the intercom is closed. An incoming/outgoing phone call will automatically interrupt the intercom and music on the 20S.
Ken Kaiser you have to adjust the volume in each function independently of each other. When you’re in a phone call, and intercom conversation or receiving GPS turn by turn instructions. All three volume controls work independently of each other. You can’t just turn the volume down on the phone and expect it to be the same volume on the intercom. Adjust the volume to your liking in each function independently.
Is there a reason why there is different color bars on the box of the sena 20s? So far I've seen them have a blue, orange, and black color on the boxes. I'm about to buy one so if anyone can help me out I appreciate it
Can you use the handlebar control with this to question the voice commands instead of double tapping the unit, so you don't have to take your hands off the bars all the time?
I just upgraded to a Sena 20S from The 10 and it just seems easier to use The Jog Dial to move to the next song or the previous song as opposed to tapping my device while I am riding my motorcycle. Having to tap the device twice to get into standby mode to do voice commands seems a little much for me as I'm riding. Love the product though.
Hi Sena, thanks for these videos :) I've bought a duo kit to see if these units can be compatible for motorbike training. Can I create a one way group intercom, i.e. instructor giving instructions to students?
20S is great! Been a faithful Sena user since they came out and have slowly converted everyone to Sena. The new 20 is great with all the options. I had the early version of the 20 and there was some static issues but Sena replaced them with a new revision quickly and easily. No problems whatsoever with the new ones. Thanks again. Great videos too. ~TWS
