The Cardo Scala Rider Q3 is the newest communication system from Cardo that takes the place of the Q2 with some excellent upgrades over the original. Most noteworthy are the firmware upgrades, music sharing, replaceable speakers, boom and wired mic, and pairing with a 4th rider. The new firmware upgrades are compatible with both Mac and PC platforms, and while logged into Cardo, the user can fine tune settings on mic, FM presets, and sensitivity settings. Music sharing is now from rider to passenger or from rider to rider within a 33ft range over bluetooth. The Q3 uses the same audio package as the G9, which is already one of the industry best, and the 3.5mm jack connection allows the rider to upgrade to earbuds, if desired. The new hybrid mic allows for more mounting options and includes both a boom mic and a wired mic. The Q2 was able to allow 3 riders to toggle between each other for one on one conversations, and the new Q3 can take one more rider for a total of 4 riders. Other notable features include the half mile range, the click to link feature for any Cardo user, and 8 hours of talk time and 1 week of standby. The Q3 will come in both single and multiset options.

Yes, if you have the right kind of adaptor to accept the charging cable. There may be some slight distortion in the speakers if listening to music while charging. -CK

The mic itself is super light, so the velcro actually holds it in place nicely. Also, the 3M tape used to stick it on is solid, so it shouldn't go anywhere! -CK

I think that depends on the quietness of your helmet mostly. A full face helmet with good amount of protection against wind noise would solve this problem, but an open face or half helmet will make it difficult for you to hear. The noise canceling technology takes care of the road and wind noise, but sometimes pipes still creep into the mix. -CK

Currently, the software and tech in the Scala Rider Q3 limits you to toggling between your connected riders. The only Cardo that supports more than two riders conferencing together at the same time is the Cardo G9. - CK

Yes, these will be compatible, but with limited functionality of course. The Q3 won't magically gain all the features of the G9 when paired :-). -CK

I'm not super impressed with the Bell Revolver EVO. Most of the entry level modular helmets tend to be a bit heavy and bulky. If you have a $200 budget, you could get a much better full face helmet than a modular. For a communicator in your price range, I would suggest the Sena SMH5. ~Ali

Hi! Im new with motorcycle world and I have a flying tiger bell helmet. Im going to buy this cardo system but i noticed that my helmet is different from other that you can remove the inside part to attach the Q3 basement...Im afraid to damage the helmet...its ok to remove it? thank you...by the way nice reviews!

I have this version, and to be honest, i'm not very impressed with it so far, pairing itself is straight forward, but my passenger simply cannot hear me at all, At least with the old teamset I had, you could speak to each other off the bat, - with this one, you have to press the intercom button, to at least have a chance to talk to each other. The instructions provided, aren't very clear- what happened to just talking to each other instead of pressing buttons?

It only fits with older Qualifier DLX helmets, as Bell has removed the door and recess from new Qualifier DLX helmets. They made a rolling change almost a year ago. -DrewZilla

Youri Van Miegroet The Q2 and Q3 cannot be paired together. You would need to have the Q2 Pro to be able to pair with the Q3 or Cardo G4/G9/G9x communicators. -DrewZilla

+Teh_Appix Yes, because the Sena 20S has universal intercom pairing, you can pair a single Cardo Q3 to the Sena 20S. You won't have the music sharing functionality of the devices though, and the range won't be as good as with two Sena 20S units. -DrewZilla

No, the Q3 is not compatible with other brands of intercom. hey revzilla, i am looking for a intercom that me and my two friends can use for a 16 day trip around Europe. need something that will connect to our phones for music and navigation. also we need something that would let us talk to each other simultaneously rather than switching in between. so when rider A talks, B and C can hear and respond. is this possible with this cardo model and if not, what other device would i be looking for?

What you're looking for is 'full duplex' for at least 3 people, and the Q3 does not offer that. Instead, consider the Cardo SmartPack (supports up to a group of 4) or PackTalk (supports groups of more than 4). They will allow everyone in your group to listen and respond to each other without any switching. Ben Hauser Yes, you just hold down the music/mobile button on the Q3 until Siri activates. You also use the music/mobile button to activate FM radio or A2DP music. -DrewZilla

RevZilla For FM/A2DP switching you need to stop the current play (hold music/mobile) for 2 seconds, then double tap music/mobile to get into fm radio. To go back hold for 2 seconds, and you can hit the play button to start your current a2dp music. As for SIRI I have not found a way that works either.

The 10S allows you to talk with three other riders simultaneously, while the Q3 only allows you to talk with three riders one at a time via toggling. In that respect, the 10S is better. Otherwise, they offer similar features. -DrewZilla

shrey No, not at all. In fact, it's easier to mount one of these in full-face, modular, and 3/4 helmets than it is to use in half helmets, as many half helmets don't have ear covers in which to mount the speakers. What helmet do you have? -DrewZilla

Does this work fine when listening to music and using the intercom at the same time? Is there any lag? In comparison to the Sena 20s where the music just gets turned down.

How about the packtalk? Is the music constantly at a lowered volume when in intercom mode or only when the other person is speaking?

With the PackTalk, it is always slightly lowered in intercom mode, but it doesn't sound soft. I find it sounds natural. -DrewZilla

I bought the new Scala G9 a couple months ago. They have not worked proplery one time. Numberous calls to Scala customer "lack of" service and still nothing. They just give you the run around to try this and that. I wasted 450 bucks. I hope you do not do the same thing. I can not hear the speakers above 35 MPH in a full face helmet. After about 25-35 minutes they just turn off. You have to pull over and restart them. Cardo is now telling me the original advise they gave me is wrong and to try new stuff. The G3's may have been ok, but stay away from the G9's for sure. Motorcyles were meant to let you enjoy the road, not be frustrated.

the company Scala sucks.. i bought the power-set and had to deal with the company directly.. they do not warranty their products..if you have any problems with your unit, they will tell you to beat-it.. buy another: is what i got... you've been warned , do not buy from this company "scala"!!! love revzilla, no problems with them. love anthony, hes my goto video guide for bike products..

If this is the same poor quality in pairing as the Teamsets, obvious 'Chinese quality', I advice to purchase an other brand. Because Scala Teamset Pro sucks!

Hi Brian, I approached the help desk of Cardo several times and every time they advised to reset the TomTom. Yesterday a perfect pair....till after 30 minutes paired no pairing at all anymore, all of a sudden. No TomTom, no iPhone, no buddy set....Swichted off after the ride, switched on after two hours and paired perfectly.....Next time it won't pair at all, as usual...Russian 'Roulette', Will the set pair today or not, we make bets the last year..
