12:47: “he’s already on the slipstream on the big Bentley, the two biggest widest biggest heaviest cars are going to head to head” man I love that commentary. The way he said that is so cool
at the start of the clip the GTR was 9th..... I'm no fan of the R35, I've always loved the R32 and R34, but looking at the car come down the hill @ 13:26 makes me love it in racing trim....
R32 snobbery is getting very boring mate, R35 has proven to have achieved the respect it deserves and re-establish the GTR heritage as force to reckon with. As much as I love my old skool skylines, I'd love to own an R35 GTR just as much.
i never hated the R35, i just never liked how it looked. i knew they were faster and more capable compared to its parents, and its exactly the same with the new NSX.......how is that snobbery?
Godzilla is awesone, that driver knows exactly what he was doing. Pedal to the metal, that describes this epic finish vera good I think. And this is Motorsport at its best. That can just happen with the best drivers in the World. Just awesome....
wow, that's Tons of weight Are you sure about 1000kg? I mean, they probably made the whole chassis out of light weight materials. The probably just shaped the materials to look like the Bentley production cars. With that said it probably has nothing like that on the real GT they are selling but I haven't done research.
It's the standard steel road car chassis - and yes they shed more than a tonne (2350kg for a standard conti vs. 1300kg for the GT3 race car). Front body work, roof, doors etc all done in carbon fibre. Door weight down from 50kg per side to 7kg. The V8 was chosen over the W12 because it weighs 23kg less plus they ditch AWD system. It is a serious racecar - made by the same people who have made Ford WRC cars for decades..
Yeah screw you director for missing that final turn highlight ugh... I'd love to watch what exactly happened back there.. We got a glimpse of that audi going for the outside then suddenly got trolled hard but this stupid director... 😩😩..
Also at around 5:31-5:44 the director chose to show some fingernails at the exact moment the GTR passes an Audi. You can hear the displeasure in the announcers voice.
it's amazing what an age of possibilities we are living now... to think that a videogame geek racing virtual cars back home had a shot at going pro race driver and even drive a real car to win a 12 hour world level event, racing against a bunch of race bred and experienced other drivers would be a way farfetched conception years ago, back when videogams and real racing were worlds apart
+eddie scythe why man? Apart from feeling the car fully what doesn't a simulator give? It lets you drive the track know your gears get quicker reactions etc. There are studies out there that have proved if you train your mind in the motor skills required to do a job and even if you have never done it but keep going through the process in your head you actually end up being able to do it.
The amount of load of constant load on the body in like super hot suits and weather is not as easy as being at home in a creature comfort environment. I have mad respect for those racers. To actually perform fully consistent all the way to the end is insane. It's not just whipping a car around corners and thinking you are fast and even if you are in the game it's no where near what characteristics the real-world is throwing at the driver.
Commentary: "BUT WHO'S GONNA BE SECOND THIRD AND FOURTH??" Director: "ok, let's cut away from those three and focus on the guy who's obviously going to win"
The major circuit motor racing divisions in Americ need to see this video. Outstanding racing. Some of the best racing I've seen in my life. I wish I could've been there live. I'd be as excited as a kid in a candy store for this kind or racing.
Way to avoid the amazing finish to watch another guaranteed victor take the checkered. I'm so tired of the camera cutting away from proper racing to see a glorified victory crossing. We will see nothing but the winner for the next half hour or more after the checkered flag, surely a few seconds spared for the actual fight behind the leader is worth it.
+1chriscollins1 My thoughts exactly... I was sure the Bentley would take second, then I was WTF? then went back and watched again but all you see is the Bentley gone wide etc so I'd love to see any footage of how it actually went down.
Last win on Bathurst circuit for Nissan was 1992 in groupA, with factory supplied R32 then race developed by Gibson racing. 270kph going up the mountain straight back in that race.
this is the first real race i've ever seen on this track in real life.. i've never had a channel to watch racing like this. i've 'shredded' mount panarama many times in a toy gran turismo GTR. love the track an gtr. Watching, fresh, no idea who would win. I saw the gtr in 3rd.. an said. oh its gonna win.. so much fun.
Who wouldn't be pressured with Godzilla glaring at you from your rear view mirror. I know right when the GTR passed the R8 the Bently guy was probably like...."FUCK I LOST".
HaloToday This is international, it's just one of the races that take place happens to be here. You can see most of these same drivers and cars racing all over the world, they have one at the Nurburgring too. FIA GT3
+HaloToday you can man atleast for this series just type in GTWORLD in youtube search. goto their channel. All the races are broadcasted live in super quality and also then recorded and put up on the site a day or so later. its all under SRO which is the organization that hosts this series (Blancpain) atleast.
What a crazy race finish! That is motorsport at best. Angry at the TV director though for totally ignoring the battle for 2-3-4 before and in the last corner. What were they thinking? Dumb move. Nobody needs to see the winning car traveling past finish line lonely and safely when there's a heated battle just behind. Winner will get deserved publicity and replays soon after anyway damn it.
Agreed. For example, in F1's 2019 Brazil GP Max crossed the line first by a mile. The camera focussed on Gasly and Hamilton then. That's what I call great directing.
Man this sure is kick arse at its best Porsches Lambos Audis bentleys Aston Martins Mclarens all get out performed by the GTR the cheapest car in the field
Good that it was the only time it got destroyed. This is just a BoP fail if you look at that Top Speed advantage. If you watch the Nurburgring 24 you know that the GT-R isn't on the level of the others really.
GTR has only got a V6 engine smallest engine in the super car field and to buy one off the shelf will only cost you $200.000 where as the rest will cost you $500.000 to over a $million why pay a $half million plus to get blown away by a $200.000 car
HOLY CRAP!!! They will have to create a new class for the GTR!! Cause it TOTALLY outclassed the other cars!! 🏆 But that big Bentley!?!?!?!?! 😱 Hats off, well done!!!!
In this thread is a vid shot by a fan showing what happened to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. You'll have to dig, but it's there. I don't have time to find it at moment to post. Aston Martin hit Bentley on final corner, knocking it wide. Apparently, there is precedence for this from Aston driver. I don't know if final podium places were adjusted as a result of this...
not gonna lie the bently esp with the racing flared fenders and bigger tire profile reminds me of an rs split bumper camaro esp the headlights and grill gap. When viewed from the front
Was the Australian Gibson team that developed the R32 and their cars became know as Godzilla. .They were to race in Japan but I believe refused entry as they were producing a faster car than the Nissan backed teams in Japan but I'm sure a Google search will clarify ☺
BTW the announcer is wrong and the GTR did not win in 1991 or 1992 at Bathurst. The Supra A70 MK3 powered by the 7M-GTE engine won in 91' and in 92' It was the RX-7 FD which dominated for 4 years. This was the first time for the GTR and what an amazing win! I want a R35!
Porsche came in 3rd in both GTLM and GTD last year in IMSA, Ferrari came in 2nd in GTD. Porsche teams won at COTA and Laguna Seca last year, and the Ferrari team won at Sebring and Watkins Glen and took the GTD team championship.
