Just did this. Only way to open the trunk was from the manual pull from inside. At first i thought it was just a blown fuse so I swapped it out and popped the trunk open and it worked until I closed it and tried again lol. Was blowing the fuse each time so I replaced the latch on the trunk as you did and replaced the fuse again and boom! Everything works as normal. Thank you for saving the people money 👍🏼
So wish I searched this two weeks ago. After 3 appts and $800 charges today the Chevy dealer called us to tell us it is the trunk latch and it was done in an hour. Though after $400 for another part that didn't fix the problem and several hours of labor cost the bill is $800. Grrr. Your video is awesome I am a 72 yr old gal and I think I could have fixed it myself with your explicit instructions.
Thank you for posting this. After blowing several fuses I went on the Chevrolet parts online site and ordered according to VIN. I just changed mines today on my ‘15 Impala, As soon as the parts came in from the U.S. i got right on it. Your video was straight to the point and easy to follow.
Thank's for taking the time with this informated video, I just started having this issue with a 2019 Impala. Oh quick info on panel plugs, harbor freight sells a tool kit for removing plugs and panels, hope this helps with the info you've already provided thank's...
Thanks for the informative video, it was very helpful I also found out if the driver's side trunk lid tailgate light is out the trunk release will work intermittently. Had issues with opening my trunk, i replaced the fuse and latch and the problem still exists. Replaced the blown bulb on the tailgate and it works fine.
I appreciate your video it was awesome thank you so much but if anybody is looking for this part just thought you can buy it on eBay I paid 14.99 for it and it works great
Great video!! thanks. I was just looking how to move the manual release from one piece to another. By the way you can add to your description is the same actuator for Chevy Malibu. I have the 2015 model.
Is this a common problem on the Impala? My wife's 2018 Impala keeps blowing the #66 - 5amp fuse. Is there a way to test the trunk release, to make sure that's the issue?
Hi....I have a 2015 Impala LTZ also and I'm having the exact same problem with my trunk fuse popping. It doesn't happen evey time I open the trunk, but it has blown like three times in the past two weeks. I have an extended warranty and have taken it to my local Chevy dealer and they weren't able to recreate the problem. How can you tell if a new latch will fix the problem??
I would first take your key fob and try repeatedly opening and closing your trunk latch at least 20 times then go and try it with your push button on the dash repeatedly also. You need to get this thing to blow a fuse constantly. Or else they will try and ride you out till the end of your warranty.let me know how that’s goes when you try that .
So in theory if the latch was the problem it wouldn’t blow the fuse if the wires going to the latch were unhooked.? Cause I’ve unhooked the latch and it still blows the fuse.
Mine wouldn’t close so I switch it for a new one. When I plugged the new one in the factory alarm went off as if it was broken into but it stopped when I hit the unlock button on the remote. I was able to get it closed but now it won’t open. I’ve tried opening it from the button on the trunk, the button on the dash inside the car, and when I try using the remote the lights flash. I’m so lost. Any idea what it could be?
@@christianmiller7954 I thought I’d be able to open it back up and install the emergency release later. I was moving hastily because it happened at my wife’s job and it was getting dark. I plan to have my son go back in the trunk and unscrew the screws and unplug the cable. Does the emergency release have to be installed for it to work? I didn’t think it did but maybe I’m wrong.
Is your trunk opening and closing properly . If this issue did not happen before you changed the latch you might want to go back in the video and make sure everything was done right
Did you notice anything specific that might have been causing it to think the trunk wasn't open when you went back and did it again? Just finished mine and exact same thing is happening even though trunk is clearly closed.@@joebowling7604
