2015 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 Performace Upgrades 

Thanks for this video. I got the 2016 sierra 5.3 yesterday and I too was thinkig of buying the k&n cold air, now im convinced! I know I will love that sound. I might not need to change the exhaust.

how's the sound inside the cabin during cruising speeds 60-80mph with the muffler delete??? is it a quite sound VS a loud sound like if you would have flowmasters???

I have a cold air intake and long tube headers and honestly I don't notice a difference other than great sound and looks awesome.. :)

Hey I just want to know what is throttle body spacer fit on a V6 truck 4.3 so 2017 a 5.3 spacer can it fit a 4.3

Nice vid. I agree that the TBS won't do much. I got suckered into one on my old Dodge and other than giving me an annoying whistle, it did nothing. I just got a 2017 Sierra and I'm doing the intake. I am super interested in the muffler mod. Did you really just cut the muffler out? Also, are you from Canada? I swear your driving in the Collingwood area here. :)

So before I end up getting a spacer I have a 2011 5.3 v8 silverado with knn intake straight pipe and tune will it make a difference??? Thanks in advanced

Damn it, people, please, please quit wasting your money on bullgarbage products like throttle body spacers, that are supposed to spiral the air. There is way too much research already proving that it doesn't work. Only on some carberated intakes do spacers sometimes help, if the carb is too close to the base of the intake, so that the airfuel mixture cannot mist, before pooling by hitting the bottom of the intake, then these spacers, help, not the spiraling either. Do you know how many abrupt changes and cuts and corners the air has to go around in a modern fuel injected engine. Yes sometimes spiraling works on straight through shots like on a Harley Davidson carb, that goes straight into the motor. These examples are few and far inbetween. It just pisses me off to again see someone help make wealthy these asses passing false information and lies to rip off hard working people. It helps the sound, are you kidding me. Otherwise thanks for attempting to pass on information.

delete the resonator i did it to mine and dont regret it. gave it it a deeper throaty noise than with just the muffler off

I put k&n on mine, and replaced the muffler with a magnaflow, i cant hear the magnaflow over the intake now. These vids dont do justice to the sound they make in the cab, very nice growl when hoping on the highway.

Borla attk is best exhaust for these 5.3, they have a video for every exhaust u can do on RU-vid

what made you go with k&n? I ask because I've had k&n in previous trucks and liked it, but I'm really liking bully dogs CAI. just trying to be as informed as possible. I too have a 2015 5.3

Spacer is just to allow your engine more volume in the intake plenum to help burn more efficiently. No hp gain to real talk about! All spacers whistle, they are designed that way, if you drive yours easy you will hear it too!

my 14 is straight piped. I left the resonator in but have removed it since then. I left the valve in but I'm going to remove it as well because it rattles a bit. The straight pipe does sound pretty good and with 3 cats there is no need to worry about back pressure. I am going to tune it though and delete that stupid 8-4 cylinder garbage.

Did you really notice that much of a difference with the spacer? I have the cold air. Stock muffler. Just wanted to know if the spacer would gain anything? Let me know if it's worth it or not... Thanks.

Hi I have a 5.3l v8 2014 Silverado. I know I'm a pro at air flow for vehicles. The spacer will do very minimal gain(like 0.5 more hp&tq). But if you add other gaining mods like a cai, exhaust, and more air flow directing to the cai. It will all domino-effect(which means all the mods you do will work together). At this point the spacer would probably do 3-4 hp&tq gain

My bro has been running one for years. Cold air intake just keeps cooking map sensors on him. Curious s to what these mods do for your warranty haha

interesting they suggested a muffler delete. that was my plan on mine, ended up w the super 40 muffler instead

Expensive cold air intake (200-500 are a waste of money. I paid 100bucks for mine and it looks and feels great (all metal). I also had a cam and longtube headers installed. Next is the converter and centrifugal supercharger.

personally I've never had any whistle at full throttle. the whistle is most pronounced at quarter throttle where I'd like to call the "sweet spot." I've always thought it was geared towards giving more torque for everyday driving, which it does imho and to help find that "sweet spot" it give you an audible que, ie a whistle. maybe it's a placebo effect, but I felt I could keep it at QUARTER THROTTLE and "feel" the whistle, adding torque so much so that keeping my foot there would have the truck easily finding +60mph from 3rd quite smoothly. imho it added something these engines lost along the way... torque!

I'm running a F5 chip. cold air intake and a TBS on my 05 tahoe every little bit counts muffler delete up next its alot better than it was Just my opinion

I got the 5.3 also just not 4x4 but I have long tube headers k&n dyno tune and a magnaflow ...sux that I dnt put pics up on here lol

What rpm is it shifting at, the max engine speed is 5800 rpm according to General Motors

If you add a performance mass air flow sensor it will run alot better, jet power flo mass air flow sensor

If your asking for my 2 cents worth? It seemed to have more torque before! You were spinning the tires pretty good before the downgrades! Spacer plates only work for naturally aspirated engines, from my experience anyway. $300 + for a cold air intake pipe is really another waste of money. You actually get colder airflow from the factory setup because the air is actually coming in from the front of the vehicle. Cold air intake sucks air from the HOT engine compartment so it deletes the purpose right?

Cold air intakes!! Has anyone ever check the actual temp before and after the replacement from there stock induction, to "cold air" intakes?? I have checked more than 15 different makes and models of vehicles, using temperature probes in the induction air tubes, on 4 cyl, 6 cyl and V-8's and they all come up the same outcome. Your cold air intakes, actually run hotter, some more than 80 degrees hotter from the air cleaner to the throttle body, than the factory induction systems. Unless you wrap the "tube" with some type of non-conducting heat barrier, i.e. HVAC wrap, you are getting under hood engine temps. Also, unless you get the air induction from outside the vehicle, you are getting under hood engine heat. This is why when you usually see people running wheel dyno pulls on there vehicles, the hood is usually open, or big fans in front of there grill, to cool the incoming air into the engine and to cool the engine compartment. Ya, its sounds pretty cool, but they really don't work, unless you wrap and route them properly. Throttle body spacers?? That little 1/2 inch spacer (1-2 cfm's) isn't worth $1.00. The amount of "extra air" (thickness of the plate) you gain going into the upper intake, doesn't amount to nothing. IMO, waste of good money.

A CAI won't do anything for performance unless you also add a tune. A TBS is a complete waste of time & especially money.

That TBS is absolutely pointless if you have a Vortec manifold.

Waste of money my friend absolutely no gain but sounds good. All I did with my 17 High Country 6.2L was drop in a AEM dry Performance filter in stock box and Airaid intake tube.

ofcourse a muffler delete sounds better than a flowmaster. i wouldnt put a flowmaster on my lawnmower. Go borla catback. you wont regret it

waisted your money on a throttle body spacer. multi point or direct direct injection vehicles don't benefit from extra space in the intake.

TBS's are a waste of money. Better off filling your tank with premium fuel. No gains are made from a TBS.

Buy a 6.2 liter if you want real HP and torque gains.

I made a CAI out of PVC Pipe for around 10 dollars.
