Where sis you purchase the valve body kit? Mixed reviews with the ones I'm finding. Also, can a transmission shop reprogram or does it need to be the dealer? Can I drive it up to shop before reprogramming?
Nissan parts deal dot com for the part www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-valve-asmy-co~31705-28x0b.html If a repair shop has the equipment to program the transmission control unit then yes the should be able to do it. And yes, you can drive the car to the shop before it it is programmed as long as it's not like 50 to 100 miles.
About the issues: The transmission was shifting into overdrive at 15mph and juddering (like starting in 3rd gear with a stick shift). There were no codes and very little evidence of metal in the pan when I opened it up, so no serious damage IMO. I live in Florida and driving in the summer was overwhelming the little factory trans cooler, overheating and burning the fluid. Nissan NS-3 fluid is viscosity sensitive and burning the fluid will affect performance and can even damage the transmission. I was told that a common fix was replacement of the valve body and complete fluid flush. I also added an axillary transmission cooler to prevent a repeat.
Good afternoon, can you tell me the part number in the valve body and if it fix to altima 2017 3.5? Thank you and I really apreciate your effort in teaching us.
Hi vern i have a 2017 murano with 150,000 miles i had the fluid chaged about a month ago and now the car shakes at around 15 miles but when i push the pedal it goes away i have no lights pop up and it does this intermittent the dealer told me the transmission is shot and its 6k for a new one i am also in florida and i just wanted to thank you for this video because i also suspected the valve body but now i can try it, i will keep you posted on the result and if there is any advice that you can give me please do, thanks
@@juanfiol1975 Check your transmission pan for debris. If you only have a little sludge (no metal bits) the valve body swap may be the ticket. If that solves it, definitely consider adding a transmission cooler for the Florida heat. Good luck!
I have a 2014 Pathfinder. I want to replace valve body. I would like to know what your valve body cost and what Nissan Dealership charged for programming. Thanks a bunch!!!!
@@getdirtywithvern Thanks Vern, I'm trying to replace the easy things first. Speed sensors, input and output, then the TCM. I have a Thinktools ProS+ which should enable me to program TCM and hopefully a valve body if it comes to that. That was a very nice video that you made. I learned a lot from it.
I'm not an expert but the valve body of a 2012 transmission looks very similar however it won't bolt up to a 2015 transmission and the computer controlled valves would not be recognized by the transmission control module (computer). I think the 2015 through 2020 models are the same but are not compatible with 2013 or earlier Muranos.
