someone at suzuki has royally f'd up, suzuki invented the repli-racer and through the years have had some excellent gsxr's, now we witness the video above and no gsxr 1000? I understand why too, the 2009-2015 gsxr 1000 is the model A of litre bikes now. I hope suzuki's R&D dept is working some serious OT, this is ridiculous

GT6SuzukaTimeTrials I agree. Anyone reading this who thinks the lack of power is keeping them from their peak is delusional. And, it can be had for around 12K USD if you shop around which is a bargain considering how nice it is. Great package.

GT6SuzukaTimeTrials The cbr is a really nice bike. I had a 13' and the power delivery was amazing from the get go. Yeah it lacks top speed of the other bikes, but unless you are pushing 200mph, the brutal bottom end of the cbr is great for people that like hitting up turns. Not saying others can't, but the cbr is really good there.

The new R1 has really grown I me a lot. Amazing the ZX10 can still compete in this field. Honda ... needs to get a life. The bike is irrelevant.

Some disagree and still prefer a more analog bike. I think the bikes with high powers can't be ridden by the general public without all the electronics. So the Honda is more pure in a way.

Zone Television Honda needs to get a life? heh it looks like Suzuki wasn't even considered for this test. Still good to throw them in for comparison tests though, as a lower benchmark perhaps? Even so, the differences I see in lap times for the bikes are usually not much more than a 1~1.5 seconds different than the updated bikes. Once on the road, top end HP doesn't really matter anymore anyway

Zone Television Horsepower isn't everything. John McGuinness won the IOMTT on a Honda with less power than many of the other top bikes there (Kawasaki/BMW etc).

What about the H2? Sure it may not be quickest round the track, but still its a liter bike. So far I have heard only about the mad straight line acceleration but nothing on the cornering ability of the H2 and how it compares with other bikes.

R Bax Most people think so, and you'll find that pronunciation *written* all over the web. But try to find an audio clip of an Italian pronouncing it. It shouldn't be hard. It's actually: Pan-ee-gah-leh,

That's exactly the arrogant attitude that makes people hate Americans. It's not just an Italian word, it's a *name*! You pronounce it the it's pronounced in it's native language. You don't see people pronouncing english names any way they want. Aside Japanese that is LOL. They butcher any english word. P.S. not that anyone cares, but I'm not Italian, though I speak the language.

allcartuner Huh. In this video "Panigale" was said once and it was pronounced as Pan-eh-gah-lay. The Pan-ee-gah-lee I put forth came from a search for the proper pronunciation, but it was from the first link I found. American English rules would have a person pronounce it something like Pan-eh-gail. At least the way it was pronounced in the video is the closest of the three. Pan-eh-gah-lay is by far the most common way I've heard it pronounced in the US. So then Pan-ee-gah-leh; this matched what I've found since my last comment.

we use alot of languages here...we would have to break into japanese, korean italian german and latin in one sentence to use the original pronunciation and like i said its considered rude here to do that...i was trying to say it as diplomatically as i could...i really dont understand how you construe that as being arrogant when were being overly respectful of other culters with our homogenized sounding language

Many tracks have it nowadays. I like loud pipes but respect those who don't. It's not like modern bikes need the extra power anyways and the fastest guys on track days often times run stock pipes.

How sad is it that you can't even run a bone stock street legal bike at it's fastest for the whole track? Freaking PC everything. You should have used a different track as track times are crucial in a comparison. It's kind of like, "Hey y'all, we are going to sort of do a bike comparison... but not really."

Man is it me or is America getting carried away with the emissions? The r1 has been raved about by our freinds in Europe but the american detuned version has lost its ravage power. 162 hp is very lackluster for the American market (during this particular year when all the beasts have risen into the ranks . still all amazing bikes by any standard) . Well you can unlock the potential easy enough with a tune so im still excited.

***** Like boostbrigade said it's the stupid american epa restricted version the european and in other parts of the world the power is pretty close to being on par with the rest. It fairly easy to reflash a ecu here in the U.S. and get all or more of the power back!

in 1997 I was at Laguna, at the MX track. Doug Chandler was riding a KX250. He rode it like a pro. He was very fast. The MX track at Laguna sucked. They didn't know how to do track prep. It was sand. Hard sand. Blue grove sand. I never went back there after late 1997.

The R1 is not 20hp down on the bmw in the UK. It is less then 10hp. Something is wrong.

***** i can send my 15 R1 ecu in to superbikesunlimited have them race flash it and gain a guaranteed 15-18 rear wheel horse power. That is a crazy amount of horse haha. Im not sure what the ZX would gain but I know the R1 is rated at over 200hp factory overseas. The US kills them with restrictions

We need another over-the-top bike like when the first generation S1000rr came to the scene. It was soooo good and sooo fast that it redefined liter bikes at that time, now everybody has caught up. the H2 came out but that's a different ball park. If companies want me to buy their bike... it has to be as MOTO GP as possible. near 220 whp, and handle like a MOTO GP bike. But no..... we got 180-190whp sport bikes that are sooo god damn close to each other its ridiculous.

In my book.. Ducati has always been a POS from first hand experience but may be worth taking another look. I purchased a S1000RR a couple of years ago and found it to be the BEST sportbike I've ever owned. It is PERFECT for street and track.

I have a gen4 zx10r an I wanna add the Marc Marquez cbr into my garage love it also think the r1m is amazing only reason I did not get that is 1. It was the first year out (always buy it after a few model years so the bugs are worked out) an 2. I got a good deal on my zx (12k less than a r1m) If i knew there was going to be a #93 cbr repsol I would have go that

I think the 1000cc bikes are at a watershed moment. I don't see how they can get any better than they are now. These are all great bikes but I would go for the Aprilia.

Wow, is it just me, or, did the bikes completely outclass the riders? Other than the 3 time AMA Superbike champ, I got the sense that none of these guys were capable to getting close to the limits of these bikes. Is it possible that the bikes are actually better than the riders available for the test? Sure the Kawasaki was heavier handling than everything else, but, i got very little idea of what stood out on each bike? Honestly, I don't think I could ever wring out a 600cc fully on a track, and, the $16k minimum cost of entry is prohibitive, but, I was looking for more info. But, the BMW S1000RR sounds like a good platform to drool over.

David C. Gulliver All the editors are A-group riders at trackdays and all have had racing experience. But none of us can keep up with an ex-Grand Prix rider like Chandler.

That was more directed at the bikes, rather than the editors. I'm unsure if it's possible to winnow down the differences at 7 or 8/10ths on such outstanding bikes in a single day at a track. Even if the tires were matched, it would require more laps on each bike to get close to the bikes limits! The bikes are outstanding, perhaps, even better than expected. And, please note, no insult intended- keep up the great work in print & on video.

Good video as these bikes are awesome by themselves, but I really believe that to make a TRACK shootout you need lap times and to be able to pin it! None of this noise emission nonsense! It would be great to complement it by lap times with the AMA Pro setting the times on these bikes on equal tires.

I thought these superbikes would have more hp, around 200 HP, like the Ducati with about 205 HP but they say it has only 175 HP. Why?

Andrés Felipe Espinal Rojas The 205 HP is the power from the Crankshaft, by the time the power gets through the Chain and rear Wheel it drops to 175HP. Every Engine is built that way. Belt and Shaft driven bikes lose even more power to the Wheel
