It's a battle of the undefeated as the 6-0 Packers pay a visit to Mile High to face the 6-0 Broncos, in the second career meeting between Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning, on Sunday night.
Watching this in September of 2023 after the Broncos gave up 70 points to the Dolphins. Had to wash the taste out of my mouth and remember what used to be.. 😭
The only time Peyton Manning ever wore a blue jersey with white pants in Denver, and the last time he would ever... considering Osweiler wore the all blues while taking constant Mack sacks later this season.
It was actually the clue to know the Broncos were going to the Super Bowl against the NFC South. In 97 they wore these uniforms and the following year they wore the all white against a NFC South team just as they did in 2015
The Packers had 3-4 drives extended off of a failed 3rd down due to penalties and *still* only 70 yards. One of the best defensive performances in history.
@@ramal5708 the Patriots were a two-point conversion from tying the game and they definitely would have won an overtime Packers never had a chance Peyton actually had a decent game in this one probably the only good game he had all season that broncos team won in spite of him
OMG, I miss this season so bad, especially after the last 2 and startin to look like this one as well. Damn Peyton, why did you have to get old? It sucks how we went from the top of the mountain after winning Super Bowl 50 to the end of week 17 of 2016. Smh, think I'll go cry now lol. GO BRONCOS!! SB50 CHAMPS!!
can't deny the 2015 Broncos fought and won against some tough QB's. Rodgers, Brady, Roethlesberger, Newton. Great defense. My Pats came oh so close in the afc championship. If only we had kicked those field goals when we were in the red zone
Came home from a funeral to watch that game. I can remember reading an on flight newsletter about the game. Man I was excited. Long ride back to the airport after that game for the pack
I remembered this game. At the time, I told my family this was a battle of two undefeated teams: not easy knowing one team would be handed their first loss (Green Bay) and one would continue their unbeaten streak (Denver)
Not necessarily our next season was pretty good no matter how u wanna look at that season. Next season Rodgers was injured and defense was same ol same ol. Then this past season Rodgers essentially played injured the whole year and also had pretty much no defense. So basically it’s a lil more complicated that what ur sayin. But ur not necessarily wrong ether
@@ethenswords2134 I dont know dude there was a period where the Packers with healthy Rodgers would win over 11 games per season and a top 5 offense easily. Before this game they started the season 6-0 and averaging like 27 or 28 points per game then they ended the season with a 10-6 record averaging 20 points per game after this game. The 2016 season was going to be bad for the Packers but Rodgers had to go godlike mode to carry a 4-6 Packers to win 6 games in a row. This game did expose McCarthy in some way.
In Today's passing Frenzy league to hold one of the best QB's to 77 total yards passing is unheard of. This was just one game, but the proof was there GB was 6-0 going into this game as was Denver. And Denver destroyed them. This is by far the Greatest Defense in NFL history again because they did it today's league that favors the QB the WR's and can't jam after 5 yards it is all about passing and Denver did what they did all season long played Lights out Defense.
As crazy as it sounds, these Broncos have a case to be the best defense in NFL history. Let me explain: Unlike other great defenses of the past, the 2015 Broncos have to play in a modern league that rewards offenses while instituting a myriad rules against the defense where even a seemingly minor action just a few years ago could now be a 10 yard penalty or a spot foul-and not to mention, their defense had to carry the burden of an offense that had *BOTH* a geriatric Peyton Manning and the tall sack dummy Brock Osweiler at QB alongside a weak run game-they simply never had as much field position to defend on almost every possession.
And your point about modern game is blatant false, Broncos allowed 266 pts as if 2016 Patriots didnt allow only 250 15.6 points per game. 2017 Vikings 252. Every year theres great defense, its just not 85-86 Bears 187 points per game, but in 1987 the better rule era best team allowed 238 points. Only 12 point difference to modern Best Defenses.
The title of greatest modern day NFL defense still belongs to 2013 Seattle Seahawks and its not even close. They beat Brees, Brady, and DESTROYED Peyton Manning 43 - 8 in SB48, while the Broncos had the greatest offense of all time. Seahawks not even close
This game was the beginning of our crumble into mediocrity. We finished 4-6 in the final 10 games although an interesting playoffs run. Man we missed Jordy that season
Packersfan 12 Agreed. NO run game either. Lacy was packing the pounds and James Starks was just... no. 2015 was such a tough season, we lost all 3 home games against our division opponents, including losing a 25 year streak of beating the lions at home. And that week 16 Cardinals game... Oh God
Mike McCarthy is an atrocious coach. I respect Aaron Rodgers so much, and believe he's the most talented QB to ever play the game, and that McCarthy would be working as a mall Santa Claus if it weren't for AR's brilliance. That was evidenced in 2017 when AR went down and they finished 3-8, and 2 of those 2 wins were against the Browns and Bucs in freaking Overtime. I hope one day AR gets the kind of team, defenses, and coaching that Brady's been able to ride his whole career.
This is every team dream of having that same kind defense Denver had, pass rushers on the spot, DBs all over the receivers and LBs communicated very well
That 2019 49ers defense was great but it simply wasn’t better than the 2015 Broncos defense…and keep in mind these Broncos had a worse QB and running game too so the defense had to do almost all the heavy lifting
I am a Broncos girl all the way, but let's be honest: no one saw this coming. This was a butt kicking all the way, and one of the only complete games for this championship season.
Lindsey Summers I thought we were gonna lose this game. Peyton played an almost perfect game and the D was insane that night. I was quite surprised at the result. I knew after this game that we may have a chance at the Super Bowl if the team could keep it together
I actually predicted Denver to win this easily because this was where they would miss Jordy Nelson and I also knew those corners couldn’t cover DT but I never would’ve thought it would be this bad
Well deserved criticism & Well earned credits...JOHN ALBERT ELWAYS` GREATEST MOVE WAS GETTING RID OF THAT JOKE OF A QB TIM TEBOW WHO I [UNAPOLOGETICALLY] HATE [AND I DON'T GIVE A F#CK WHO KNOWS, OR WHAT ANYONE THINKS ABOUT IT]
I remember this game. We got exposed big time other teams started copying what Broncos did to us. Rodgers only throwing for 77 yards pathetic. One of the most frustrated year as a Packers fan.
Granted, no QB, including Tom Brady and Cam Newton (who was MVP), had zero answers against that defense. Ben Roethlisberger was the only QB that year to throw over 300 yards against them.
This was literally Denver's only easy win that 2015 season; outside of that, it seemed like every other game they won that year was a nail-biter that was always up in the air into the 4th quarter
All those teams had better offenses. Denver won the super bowl despite having an offense that did everything it could to lose games. None of the teams you mentioned could've done that. So... yeah.
Per PFF and DVOA the Seahawks and the other teams I mentioned had better defenses. Also there's no way the 2015 Broncos had as bad as an offense as the 2000 Ravens. Not to mention, the Seahawks defense had a better secondary, better linebacking grouping and similar talent on the d-line with a Prime benett, avril, etc.
Rewatching this game is exactly how I remembered it. Broncos ran man almost all night, pressured Rodgers, and the Packers receivers couldn’t get open. McCarthy got bailed out by WR talent for a long time, but when he didn’t have a lot of it, he couldn’t succeed. Couldn’t scheme anyone open. Just generic shotgun play-calling.
Finally a solid win for us that year....so many weak calls against us and they weren't calling any holding against GB, Richard Rodgers was holding half the time on the line, and we still took them by almost 20.
This was the game that shut everyone up about broncos being lucky lol , even in the beginning of the game cris was saying broncos was lucky to be undefeated 😂 🤣
Considering how pathetic their offense was they actually were lucky to be 6 - 0 up to that point. Their defense literally had to outscore their offense in some games.
The Broncos won the championship that year because of Wade Phillips. In spite of the chronically bad game plans of Gary Kubiak. The absolute worst head coach to ever win a Superbowl.
Outside of one hot stretch in 2016, Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been the same Quarterback since this game. Although it looks like he’s finally starting to round back into old form
The foot problems probably took place after this game or something. It had to have been because peyton physically looked really good in this game. Even on the deep balls that were incomplete you could def see he has plenty of arm strength to push it deep very well
He tore his plantar fascia on a completion on a bootleg pass to Owen Daniels across field vs the Colts. He also apparently wasn’t fully healed from his torn quad from 2014 either until about a few weeks before he returned vs San Diego. He played through far more injuries than I think he or the team willingly let on to. Peyton’s post-surgery mechanics depended heavily on using his legs & footwork to generate extra power to get torque on the ball since he couldn’t generate as much via his arm post-surgery. That is why his arm looked so much worse. He couldn’t generate as much velocity on his passes as consistently if the part of his body he used most (his legs) to generate torque on the ball was compromised. Thank God the Broncos defense was so good. Peyton - for all of his struggles - led the NFL in GW’ing Drives (5) & 4th Qtr. Comebacks (4) in 2015 & was 8-1 in one score games where he played all 4 Qtrs. 2015 was the lone time in his 18 year career that his team’s chances at winning or losing wasn’t almost entirely dependent on how he played. First time he ever had to be a complementary player & he managed to do it in a season of struggles that might’ve broken players with a weaker will. Peyton definitely was carried by his defense - as was the whole offense in general - to the Super Bowl 50 championship, but he did his part in earning it as well by being at his best when the chips were down (110.9 Passer Rating on drives w/ 2 min or less in the 4th Qtr, 108.3 Passer Rating on drives w/ 4 minutes or less left in the 4th Qtr.)
I’m a packers fan and this game made me black out. Disgusting offense performance McCarthy was so stubborn this year he should of played Janis and abbrederris more over Richard Rodgers who is so slow. We really missed jordy that year and Davante Adams was going thru growing pains and was injured he bounced back in 16 and 17 and now is a hell of a player and a top 15 wr
C'mon RU-vid,video has commercials then you give us commercials. Give us a commercial channel and video channel. I'm getting tired,I'm sure others are also
peluchin123100 Bullshit. Their defense was. The offense was hit and miss like it was most of the season. A healthy Rodgers vs. an inconsistent Manning they should’ve been underdogs
Ref: _Throws flag_ Player: _in disbelief_ *MAN!! I Didn't do NOTHIN* NFL: _shows player doing something against the rules from 123.5 angles_ Player: *Whatever, yall are horrible*
People forget that Denver started off 4-0 the next year. After game 4 win, Emanuel Sanders Complain he wasn't getting the ball enough. You're 4-0 and you have a rookie quarterback and you have the nerve to whine. Look at the KC game here in 2016. Simeon hits Fowler on a 3rd and long to put Denver up by 8 with two minutes left. KC. Scores with no time remaining and converts 2. Denver loses in overtime. It wasn't the only time Denver's defense lapsed in critical times that year. Simeon was not the second coming of Unitas, but we are seeing guys like Purdy and Howell succeeding with good coaches. If I had one complaint of John Elway was his choices of head coaches after Kubiak. If you are going to develop a quarterback, hire a coach that can develop. Denver has never drafted a quarterback and then develop them long term. Ever! Griese and Cutler were the closest, and they were only successful for a couple years. My bad for the length of this. Just frustrated. There are good quarterbacks out there to develop. They don't need to be first rounders, they need to be coached
