Yeah that is amazing.. but its also not altogether new. For decades long before factory ford sought to get thing right with the mustang performance wise, Saleen had long taken the botton from Shelby , raising the bar to new hieghts producing Mustangs that rivaling europes best. Their mustangs even ran in the 24hours of lemans along side the likes of the mclaren F1! in its first outing at lemans. And note worthy is the fact that Team saleen faired well in the race going furthing than most its competitors but in the end dnf'd due to gearbox issues. What goes unspoken in regards to that race is utter carnage of most of its competitors dnf'ing mclaren lost majority of its cars in fires. the point of all this sayin that Mustangs were always capable of much great tunes when done by professional. Saleen wsa a racing team first. but their road going business found themselves struggling from time to time. with all the same issues you hear from most tuner shops including the likes of Hennessey. The all can make great cars but running the day to day buisness is more of a challenge. Saleen was crushing european marques for some time, but most people back then were not into track racing, only straight line drag racing, and could not relate to why Saleens had cost'd so much. most never drove them to understand. 458 is still better in everyway possible and it would easily out pace the gt350r, and i own a mustang, love american cars, but the s550 is a chunky horse, comparing a 458 to a gt350r is like comparing a corvette to a gt350r, sure stock the gt350r can beat it on paper, but the 458/corvette are just on a different level performance/chassis wise. And that being said if i wanted a track car id go for a SS 1LE before gt350r imao.

Love the Gt350R but it is selling for 90K right now.

Ford sells it for around 60k but they are so rare that the dealers jack up the prices. Pretty fucked up but even if this car was 90k originally, its still the best bang for the buck available.

@@Kayak56 I doubt it, you don't do multiple laps when trying to get the best, the more laps you do the more the engine runs harder and hotter and ends up decreasing performance, you would literally have to sit and wait and let the car cool off before trying for another best lap and even than you don't know if you can get a better lap, so highly unlikely.

@@raionshishi8290 I ended up buying a gt350 not the R but in my opinion Ford could have added more vents and cooling to the gen 1 16-18 350s. They don't do well with heat in stock form.

They're in different classes. GT350R is a break-neck track car with CF wheels, no insulation, no resonators. AMG GT S is a GT car that happens to be blistering quick.

The GT350R is lightyears ahead of the 350. And it's not a collectors car :) my dad drives his quite regularly.

I'm a proud Ford racing owner, but the GTS m-series cars are really catering to a different audience. They have more overlap with Maserati and Lamborghini than Ford. I would agree though, much better value from Ford

Vipers are shit. Ford GT was ok but couldn't compete with this. Latest corvettes are ok, but they were shit for decades, and the driving position sucks. I think there is a strong case for this car as one of the best-ever American sports cars.

Vipers are fantastic one of the greats no doubt - but the GT350R is really in it's own league.

More like 20K-35k less with all the markups but the M4 GTS is a unicorn.

You forgot the BMW M4 GTS is an automatic, while the mustang has a manual making it slower than it should be. The GT350R would be even faster with an automatic.

well, a good 'new-gen' auto, yea. the Mustang GT's current 6 speed auto wouldn't cut it, but Ford's new 10 speed auto would. 6 speeds lasted a long time, almost a decade, as excellent slush boxes. But, now any real performance car needs at least a well calibrated 8 speed transmission to be competitive.

+alexander vick A new Camaro model ALWAYS comes out after the corresponding Mustang model, that's what GM does; wait for Ford to set the bar, then make their car faster. It's easy to do when you never have an original thought. What you SHOULD worry about is buying a Camaro instead of singing it's praises, they're barely selling right now. Camaro sales are barely above 2002 Camaro/Firebird sales, so if you don't buy a Camaro now, it's likely GM will give the Camaro another 'planned hiatus'

I don't think it will bet the nsx. but I will like to see how much faster the NSX can achieve.

It would have been close. Randy probably lost .3-.5 over shooting the corner so needless to say the GT350R on a clean HOT Lap at Laguna can do a 1:35.7 which is a lot to say for an American Muscle Car transformed.

because the mustang is marketed for Europeans. It was heavily advertised in Europe. I am not even sure they sell the camaro in Europe. On the counter side, myself as an American have always loved the mustang, in fact I own one, but if I had to buy a new car today it would be a Camaro. It looks better and more American and the performance is way better. I dont want to try to mod a dohc they are too expensive. Give me a pushrod.

They most likely did a full video from start up, to revving. I doubt the engine was cold, as they would have recorded that at the same time as the rest of the videos.

you can't rev the engine when you haven't crank/start the engine yet. no idea what will happen to my car if I just started it and rev it high right away and I wouldn't try without warming it up.

+Tony Tsui every car does that at start up, hence the reason before that video is the driver pushing the start button. the video of the gauge rising is the gauge self testing. the video edited revving after a few minutes.

I figured a working mans race car for the street would be quicker round the track than a wealthy man's sports GT. Particularly with all that extra power. But hey, save 70k and only about a second slower. That being said whats so crazy about it? It's not all about lap times and a lot of people here are saying the gt350 is the favourite.

It'd save maybe 200lbs and a GT 350R is already more prestigious than an NSX. The 30% premium over list pretty much proves that.

It's not always about speed, its handling, cornering ability, high speed stability and braking, racetrack awareness and turn in turn out ability . I like the 350R , my 1st car when I turn 16 was a 65 mustang and I loved it.just sayin you just have to drive other cars to understand where I'm coming from, Im 47 and have driven over 240 cars in my lifetime. For the record I do think the 350R is the bst mustang ever produced and would be happy to own one.The new body is the best looking mustang ever in my opinion, cars are changing faster than ever b4 year after year and its interesting to see whats next that's all I meant to say from the start.for American cars I believe the mustang is still the best deal around, If I sounded like an NSX fan Im not really but I do like te look of it but the new NSX not so much.My ultimate dream car is the Ferrari 458.

yes sir Randy just makes it look easy, this is what hardly anyone has a faster time than him on most tracks he has race certain vehicles. Everyone else is a tad slower.

smooth is fast and smooth looks slow. dude is a phenomenal driver, and one of the fastest drivers in the US. i dont doubt his technique.
