So many hateful comments on this poor Outlander Sport. Consumers rate this vehicle very well. Most love theirs. Reliability has proven to be very good now that it's been around for several years unchanged. The 2.0L engine is just not enough motor for this much vehicle. Only look at versions equipped with the 2.4L. My mom bought the GT 2.4L and loves it. I drive it when she visits and I love it too. Smooth, quiet, great MPG, comfortable, reasonably good power. It's small outside, but big inside. Seems solidly built. If you're hung up on having the newest, trendiest styling then I suggest you look elsewhere. I don't know what all the bitching is about regarding the CVT. I love it. Smooth, seamless acceleration is a problem? I'm sure there are cars out there with nasty shift shock to please you.

palebeachbum Agreed. They're not the most popular brand in the world (their sedans suck) But the outlander sport is a solid vehicle if you're in the market for a small suv with awd with "enough" techs features like push button start and keyless entry. They're reliable, good looking, pretty good on fuel economy, have an excellent warranty , and Mitsubishi dealers will be happy to have your business vs it being a chore like most dealers. And they have tons of rebates so you can walk away with a great reliable brand new suv for practically nothing. I'm currently car shopping for something with awd and this is one I'm considering

I made the mistake or trading in my 2011 Outlander for a Lexus IS 250...3 years later I am still regretting getting rid of my outlander and thats why i am getting an Outlander Sport now...Lexus was great! but I did love my Outlander....Going back to my Mitsubishi!

Great review & very fair rating - I just bought one with the GT trim & love it. - The overall style and curb appeal in addition to it's great warranty & price is unmatched. I find the CVT ride as smooth as butter. Excellent fuel economy, Love the fog lights and Rockford Fosgate sound system and the simplicity of the interior dash.

I've had the SEL model for 3 months. It's doesn't have the panoramic sun roof or the high end stereo, which is fine by me. I had a luxury SUV before this and no, this isn't one of them but I'm surprised by how much I like this car. It's comfortable (and I'm 6'2"), sporty and has some character.

Just bought this exact model, panoramic sunroof and all, and I love it. It looks great and drives so smooth. Taken it on the beach on the northernmost part of the OBX and through mud ruts my buddy in an F-150 was bottoming out in. Thanks to this thing being so light and having the ability to lock the differential I made it through all the mud and had a blast doing it. All that and I'm averaging 27mpg on regular! They can keep the turbos, I'm happy with my baby Outtie

Good easy to understand video. I think this vehicle seems good. I don't need or want a vegas style infotainment system, and this one is just what you need and nothing more. It would be worth a look if I were looking at this type of car.

One of the few fair reviews I have seen on a Mitsubishi. I have a 2018 sport limited edition with the 2.0 engine. I have no complaints with the power of the smaller engine like a lot of other reviewers. I get between 28 and 30 mpg in mixed driving.

I get a lot the same mileage. I love my outlander sport. It has all the features I need. It’s very reliable. Very unrated vehicle. It’s refreshing to have a vehicle that’s not so tech crazy as newer suvs. Plus less to go wrong in the long run

I don't get why people call mitsubishi vehicles SH*T because my dad had an 2007 outlander which has 165K from the northwest territories and it's front wheel drive. The only thing that we changed was the timing belt due to a collision. Mitsus Last very long and now they are bringing AndroidAuto And Apple Carplay for the outlander.

The only thing I wish it had was, according to this guy, softer seats, and a better infotainment system. It looks really 2009

Great review, the Mitsubishi compact Suv is kinda lame compared to it competitors. Lack of exterior appeal is hitting hard not changing the exterior to look more unique is going to cost them more in sales. good thing about this is its AWD or rather AWC i guess thats good but problem is what competitor SUV doesn't have AWD and run off a CVT now a days. Interior is nice all but they are heading down the wrong direction, When most people think of Mitsubishi(aside from world war II vets) they associate the brand with their Mitsu Lancer/EVO/Rally Art. Why go after the luxurious look when your brand is known for sporty design. Strangest thing about the interior is the front doesn't have 2 Auxiliary power outlets when tech is a hot market right now, with so much popularity with phones, phablets, tablets and netbooks accommodation for the charging ports would have been a nice selling point alone. As for why they cut the EVO, 3000gt and Eclipse; Eclipse wasn't selling actually i don't think it ever was popular except that brief moment in the Fast&Furious 2 movie. Mitsubishi 3000gt/GTO great sports car however the constant change in parts killed the car plus having two different designs for one car was a big mistake hence why for example the ScionFRS/Subaru BRZ was such a success compared to the Mitsu GTO/3000gt/Dodge stealth because the car was just one deisgn with a different emblem. The EVO however i don't understand why they discontinued its like Ford discontinuing their Ford Mustang.

The rear suspension design is scary if your in a turn over expansion joints. I wouldn't have bought mine if I knew how bad the design was. This car hadn't been changed in a meaningful way since it was introduced in 2011.

When I left my Outlander 2016 at the service for a windshield replacement (a rock cracked it), they gave me the 2015 version of this guy as a courtesy car for the day... It is a car that feels poor and many parts of the interior are still the same in the 2016... Mitsubishi are themselves poor so fancy design and production budgets are not going to happen soon... One thing that the review does not mention, is the fact that the value of a Mitsubishi crossover vs competition (except Subaru) is their very efficient AWD system and ground clearance. The competition are just transforming SUVs aka crossovers into cars with low ground clearance and so so AWD systems. This one has good value for people who needs something to go on rough roads and give them security in snow storms like here in Canada... Only Subaru symmetrical AWD beats Mitsu's but here in Canada (Montreal), Subaru is one snobby and elitist brand that makes you think they sell luxurious cars... Yet they sell allot and they know that they have the market of secure and stable vehicles in Canadian winters...

And Warranty?
@kallasnikov
@kallasnikov 8 лет назад
The default Mitsu Warranty, even though it is one of the most generous car warranties out there, does not cover windshield cracking due to rocks and such.. It covers a defect windshield, if it cracks without any impact from unidentified flying objects :) However the extended warranties that they sell, yes, they cover it...

Does it have the same Jatco cvt that is used in Jeep products?
@kallasnikov
@kallasnikov 8 лет назад
The previous year model did, this one not sure. I have the big Outlander and was told at the service department that the RVR 2015 (Outlander Sport as it is called in the US), has the engine and the CVT of the Jeep Patriot... I had a Patriot and I could not wait to let it go :-/
@the1reef.243
@the1reef.243 7 лет назад
kallasnikov I asked a dealer they say that mitsubishi builds their own CVT or there would be no 10 year warranty
@kallasnikov
@kallasnikov 7 лет назад
Yes what I wanted to say actually is that indeed Mitsubishi builds the CVT and engine for the RVR yet Chrysler (Jeep) used to take those from Mitsubishi and put them in some of their vehicles including the Patriot. When I drove the RVR it felt pretty close to the Patriot (CVT) I had before...

@@kallasnikov no it's the same jatco cvt
@RDEnduro

@@kallasnikov the big outlander had the same parts. Mitsubishi really only had one chassis right now. The one codeveloped and is also the jeep. They are all so similar in my opinion, just the outlander is longer.

Also, that panoramic roof, all it did was make the cabin really hot if you had it open. Plus, we had a storm and a wimpy branch fell on it and cracked the glass
