2016 Silverado/Sierra: Heated Wheel Upgrade - Supplemental Harness 

First of all, let me just say thank you for sharing your knowledge with all us DIY'ers. Just finished the Heated steering wheel upgrade on my 2018 Silverado with the help of your harness. Without your help and that of Tinkering Fox I would never have attempted it. Thanks again and keep 'em coming!

UPDATE….. Just got done doing my heated steering wheel swap. If anyone wants the part #’s,,,, First though, PHIL, the wiring harness worked AWESOME, your video showed every step. Thank you very much!!! I have a 2017 Chev 2500HD Diesel LT. Steering wheel # Black GM #8448368…. Clock spring GM# 23381966. and the wiring harness to power the Heated button, got right here from Phil, see his notes… The swap went flawlessly, other than forgot to UNPLUG the clock spring BEFORE I popped the steering wheel off. Thank god I had to replace it anyway. Other than that.. Great.. AND… it works and new parts left over!! Other than the steering wheel. :) Thanks again Phil… Great work!!

Just got my EBay heated steering wheel for my 17’ 2500 HD, Harness came in today, just waiting on my clock spring. Excellent video!! Thank you for building these harness’. MAN… can’t wait to get this mod done!!

You saved my mod. I'm one of the lucky few that has a 2018 Sierra SLT and I bought the 2018 Clock spring only to find out that my truck had the powered pigtail, but it was a 2014 -2016 style instead. I could see the plugs were different but I kept trying to force the two ends together for some time. I sent Phil an email and he knew right away and made me an adapter harness. 2014-2016 is more of a square connector like the one in this video and the 17-18 is more oval with a weatherpack gasket inside the connector. I think he said the clock springs are interchangeable so just order the one that matches your plug.

First of all thanks for your videos. I was looking for a heated steering wheel and sense you seem to know just about *everything* for these trucks lol, I was wondering if you knew if the steering columns are the same on all these vehicles? In other words will a heated steering wheel from a Yukon, Suburban, Denali, Chevy 3500 etc all fit a GMC Sierra 1500?? And if so, will I run into problems with the clock spring? Any help would be appreciated 👍

My truck has the fuse and wire in place for the heated wheel , but it is not connected into the fuse box. my question is what color wire do i have to find to plug into number 37?

I really appreciate your videos! I have a 2017 Silverado that doesn't have radio controls on the steering wheel. If I buy the controls (Radio Switch - GM 23262276) will there be a hook up available to plug it into? What else will I need to do to make it work?

Phil, I ordered the new wheel and clock spring from the GM site and installed it tonight. I’m almost there, but the heat connector from my new clock spring doesn’t fit into the connector under the dash. Doesn’t appear close. I have a 2018 LT. i was going to just splice the wires together, but I also popped the fuse block out first, and it doesn’t appear that I have the wire running to it. I’d buy the wiring from you, but I’m guessing it has the same connector that’s under my dash that won’t fit. Any thoughts on this? For now I’m going to try and source the pins on the fuse block connector and just splice it together.

Does the heated wheel turn on with the remote start if you use your own wiring, or does it have to run through the BCM to automatically turn on with the remote start? Does it shut off on its own after it has been on for some time, like it does on trucks that come equipped with the option? Thank you.

Off topic, my heated seats doesn't come on when I remote start the truck, they work other wise and it is selecting ON in the settings menu, any ideas on that? 2015 Sierra SLE All Terrain. Thx.

Hey I've been trying to do so much research but I just keep getting lost on all the forms and people saying different things with the different years and the different part numbers and I'm just like ready to pull my hair out.. I was hoping you could maybe help point me in the right direction. I have a 2019 Chevy 1500. I have gotten multiple part numbers for the clock spring and I'm not sure which steering wheel I need but it looks just like yours did you have a part number for the clock spring or any wiring you need or the steering wheel you got? Thank you Phil for a great Video. However, I have a question; first, is there a harness to heat the steering wheel for a 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom 1500? I just recently upgraded my original steering wheel to a leather steering with cruise and radio controls. I know I need to replace the Clock-Spring but is there a harness that continues from clock-spring to a connector under the dashboard (which I don't have) and continue towards the fuse box as you identify in the video? I really appreciate your help...thanks.

Any concerns with airbag discharging after or during install? It is the only thing making me a little gun shy for this install.

Hey I am doing this upgrade - I don't understand; I have the wire connector under the dash already and the fuse on the panel. If thats not "Hot", where do those wires go that are in the connector existing? Do I need to remove that in order to add a new connector? I have a 2018 Sierra
